Thanks again / I’m 82 years young trying to make 2 junk journals for my brothers both in their 80s / from Canada/ I have enclosed our family tree to start my ideas for their journals our mom kept humorous cards my dad gave her and I am also incorporating them in journals / family pictures to start them thinking of a story they may want to write. Both of my brothers live on the other side of Canada and I miss them, I want to finish them and send as a surprise . I am using elastic binding so they can add more pages,/ I have a letter from my grandfather to me. I saved it and will copy some of the pages for hand written pages in the diary My mom kept an envelope from when my dad had open heart surgery away from home. I also will enclose copies of this envelop to illicit some memories of my dad. Etc. Thank goodness these are junk journals as I am making lots of mistakes but I am enjoying the process which is what it is really all about! Thanks for your many suggestions along the way that has been a big help.
First I love your accent, I'm saying that because I have an Oklahoma drawl...and Australia is my fav country...I spent three months there in 1999.. I loved every moment...second, I love your videos...I've nearly binge watched all of them and several of them twice...you have hooked me on junk journals...I love writing and esp love writing in journals, but I buy a mass marketed one and soon I'm bored w it...so as soon as I can get my mind wrapped around imagination, I'm going to try to make my own...if I fail I'm buying one of yours...if I don't fail I'm still buying one from you for my to me from me xmas present...thank you for your clear and excellent instructions...I'm a scientist so directions are something I follow...now imagination not so much...
Great closure - to avoid risks with lighters, I run a small line of PVA glue on cut ribbon edges and press it in with my finger - dries quickly and stops fraying.
You could probably dab clear nail varnish on the end of the ribbon - or coloured, if you like - to prevent fraying. You know, for a less pyrotechnic version. I'm definitely going to try to make some of these.
I’ve used this idea to secure my kid’s stainless steel lunch box lid which was otherwise opening up easily. Used a thicker strap for wrapping around, a big button and a elastic hair band for closure 😎
Your paper making scrolled up so decided to watch the closure video. I dont journal but want to use papers for cards and tags. I use pity tail bands similarly to close my purses made from jeans and sometimes clothing, fronts of jackets too. It would be easier to pin to sew or pin mar where buttons go or cutting lines. I even sew buttons on with my 9 machines! Sewing is my main passion but branching out. For the lace that is a one sided design you can cut two pieces and overlap and do a small zig zag down the middle or edge sew the lace on both sides of a narrow ribbon. I cut and knot the hair ties too if I want a loop similar to close a flap on a purse. All in all a good use for this closure on a journal.
Thank you so much Natasha, I really really enjoyed watching you create this lovely bookmark/ journal closure. Great idea. And one I’m going to try out soon. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have been binge watching you all day and I am still not tired!! One great idea after another and you execute them wonderfully! Thanks again so much for sharing you joy with us!❤️
Oh, I like this idea. Partly because I always seem to forget about the closure until the very end at which point I can't hide mechanics of it. Plus I could make several of these at a time and send as gifts to fellow junk journalers. TFS
Yes!! Exactly! I have also forgotten to include a closure until its too late! This could be added any time, and also make wonderful quick and easy gifts!
Have only seen it used for bookmarks. Wonderful idea for journal closure. I can imagine a bulb pin and charms or any kind of embellishing. Can be designed to fit in your front journal design.
Natasha, I am binge watching all your videos. I just finished my first junk journal. I made it out of an old address book. Now that it's done and super "STUFFED" this elastic tie will be perfect. THANK YOU for all your great help! Couldn't have done it without you!
Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome idea, always nice to have options for journal closures and this one is quite quick and very effective Hugs and Smiles
LOVE this closure Natasa!!! I don't have a sewing machine but I'm sure I could hand stitch the elastic on. thanks so much for sharing and inspiring me!!
This was the perfect inspiration for me today!! I now have the ideal way to close a journal without covering the image..brilliant - thank you so much for sharing ❣
These are delightful - and a great way to use up all those little scrappy bits of elastic that I hoard "because they'll come in handy one day"... I liked the look of the books displaying 3 - might see if there's any way to attach them to the back so there would be 2 bookmarks & a closure. With a wide ribbon & a narrow button that are otherwise just perfect for each other, I think I would try folding the corners to make a point to stitch the button onto... Thank you for the tutorial - clear, concise & beautifully done as ever!
I literally just finished a journal and forgot the closure, hence watching this video to get me sorted lol!! I don’t have a sewing machine, so will adapt. ❤x
This was so easy to make, thank you.. I used fray check liquid for sewing to seal the ends of the ribbon...this demo is the best way to wrap around anything , not just a book.... good video....
Easy enough to do and endless possibilities...couldn't the sewing of the edges be done by hand if a sewing machine isn't available? (I'm enjoying your tutorials and learn a lot from them!)
I’ve got some symmetrical lace and some linen hand printed with bees which has already got me itching to do these. Thank you for sharing with us Natasa. 💕💕💕
not sure if you guys gives a damn but if you're stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend for the last couple of months xD
I'm watching this for like the 3rd time... Watching all your videos again & again, one after another. I love them. The ribbon you are using in demonstration is beautiful. I really like it a lot. Great video as usual. You are so good at it. And the camera angles are always perfect. Love you, Natasa
Oh I love those I always have trouble trying to work out how to make a closure Thank you Natasa ❤️ 🇦🇺💃🏼💐 Ps just a thought you could sew the one sided lace on to the ribbon both sides to make a very pretty closure I might try that🤔

Great idea thanks for sharing. You could also use some glue to stop the ribbon fraying.
Fabri-Tac from beacon glue will work really good and walmart carries it in the craft section.
