  • In this episode I'm starting to strip back my 2002 Mitsubishi Magna Ralliart to prepare it for painting. For a task that looks relatively simple, it takes a surprisingly long time to pull all the bits off! #motoringbox

I had a little chuckle about who would own a Magna... About 15 years ago I bought a second hand Mitsubishi 380, I hated the look of them and thought a front wheel drive sedan would be a peice of garbage... but it was a decent price so I took it for a drive and I was actually quite surprised. It was probably the best full sized sedan I've ever owned.

Had a brand new Verada back in 1998, great car in its day, loved the sound of the Mitsubishi 6 cylinder engines . Followed this car with a NM pajero in 2000, then a brand new manual AU III XR6 in 2001 ( loved that thing) then in 2002 a new BA Falcon XR6 with Factory sunroof and Factory 19 inch alloys - the BA was a world away from my AU III. Then in 2003 left my Australian car run for a 350Z . Loved all of my Australian made cars, was a ford man at heart but owned a number of Holdens too. Thanks for all your videos

It would be great if your able to show some of the paint work getting done too, but i understand that might not be possible.. really looking forward to the results. Another way to save a bit more money is to not have a deadline, let the painter fit it in to their schedule, however that can also drag out the process.. keep up the good work mate!

My last 2 experiences with getting my LTD painted the first guy broke trims which he obviously had no idea of what he was doing or got the apprentice to do it. Years ago, I worked with a dude who had a relative that worked for Mitsubishi, and then moved onto Holden when Mitsubishi closed down. According to him, the relative reckons that he could do a better job at Mitsubishi because he had more time to get everything done right, as the vehicles travelled less quickly down the production line than they did at Holden. Maybe it's because there were fewer Magnas and 380s being made than there were Commodores and Cruzes, but that's some more food for thought right there.
