As soon as he said “the second you recognise it feel free to stand” I just knew it would be about cancer. The journey of cancer is one of the most horrible journeys anyone could go through. My mum battled and lost 2 years ago. My heart goes out to everyone who has battled with that ❤
Language and communication is what drives us in life. Whether it is done with the use of a tongue, a touch of the hand, a look of the eye. That is the beauty of language. Language has the ability to allow connection to take place. To have a language is to possess a soul. Commonality is achieved when communication takes place. This video was a pleasure to watch!
Absolute brilliance just shining through him. The compassion, the emotion, the resilience, the patience, the knowledge and the open mindedness that he exhibits here is breathtaking. Cried and my heart felt very full throughout! Exceptional human being!
It is so rare for someone to introduce a new paradigm; a way of looking at things that has not been expressed. Ali does this so well here. Not only does he use language masterfully, but he has changed the way I look at interaction.
One of the best... videos, not TED talks, VIDEO... I have ever watched. Completely engaging and interacting while keeping the message clear and concise.
You made me laugh, cry, and spit all while watching this. I enjoyed your presentation of language and learning! I physically am able to speak 4 languages (english-primary, Spanish-secondary, and Pashto/Farsi). Now I understand that I speak a multitude of languages than previous assessed.
@@jonathandavis8503 oh ok. never knew each different type of arabic had it's own name other than arabic (country here) version. i just thought it would be like Algerian(which i am)

Is it normal to watch a Ted talk repeatedly for 7 ,8 times and still can't have enogh of it?. I am sure I need a Ted talk for my addiction to Teds. Absolutely love the brilliance this man Ali exudes with his sheer depth, originality and eloquence.
Okay, Its been awhile since I've watched TED. I'm very glad to return to TED by watching this masterpiece. This is one of the best TED talks I've ever watched 😊.
One of those languages, I felt years ago with the uncle who helped raise me. And I recognized it immedietly when he started talking about it. This talk was amazing.
Thank you for sharing your message, ‘It’ moved me & touched my soul. Without a doubt you spoke a language that reaches many and more importantly will lead many of us to contemplate ourselves, our IT.
Deeply grateful of all the experiences in life that shape and make us share the same language of heart, soul, spirit, human beings...our lives would be very flat if not. Thank you for this insightful talk. 🌻🌻🌻🐝🍯♥️
This morning I had what I refer to as a great conversation with a very close friend about "language" but at that moment while we interacted more than ever did it occur to me how much I value universality when I comes to language. Because I believe that language goes beyond words, so much to the extent that I have a discomfort being "identified" with particular "spoken languages"...... . I still hope that whenever I speak to anyone, ...that I can communicate and connect even when we don't speak the same language
Mr Ali, I don't know if your first name is Poet, because if it is, at least in English it is an unusual name. That said, if it is, your parents were insightful beyond measure because you are indeed a poet. As a bow to a violin string, my being resonated to your words. It was a privilege to listen to you. I am in your debt. Montreal, Canada.
One thing I found very interesting is normally only people who speak 'the same language' can become friends together, there are some people, even if you speak English together, you find it difficult to communicate each other,This is because you don't have the same experience or 'language' at all,You speak English but you have nothing in common, that is why we need to learn more 'languages' to really know the world. BTW,as a early childhood teacher, one of the important things I've found is that when you're talking to a child, you have to speak 'the child's language',they're not naughty, they just don't understand what you're talking about.
This is so interesting - he SHOWS us the 'language' instead of just saying it - sooo meaningful. My favorite though was the "text love letter" and the poem. So talented :)
This is probably one of the stronger Ted Talks posted for awhile. The poem/rap at the was really good. Could be one of those things you'd read off a short story or poem in Middle/High school and be judged.
*He is brilliant.* One of the most captivating people I've ever watched, communicating the most important ideas. So glad I found this TedTalk!
It’s amazing how all TED Talks need language in order to be communicated, and he communicated so effectively & gently. I love this one!
Me too
the way this guy speaks is like listening to a song. when i am home by myself i turn on this speak to put as background noise. so comforting
Right now I'm speaking the speechless language ... This TED Talk is art

He did the same talk in 2014... but whenever I listen to the last part of the talk... my heart melts
Breath-taking speech. Maybe the best speech I have ever seen on Tedtalk.
Why are there still wars on Earth when there's this kind of wisdom available?
It's called money
Because not everybody grows up safe
because it’s just a speech, not real life
