    He was on stage over two hours. He has a tech/roadie/handler with him. He shows up in a van/bus. Uses the venues sound. The staff is not allowed to speak to him or look him in the eyes. He has his own area where he hangs out alone before going on stage. On stage he does have audience participation on the guitar but he adds more protection to his head gear before those portions of the show. It is him and his guitar for enough time that is it. Buckethead has so many styles and "hundreds" of albums published to purchase from him. Chuck Berry used to set a gig, the venue would hire a band that could play Chucks music. He would walk in, turn up the amp, play the gig and leave. Taking his cash with him. Another thing that was interesting... There was zero merchandise at the show. No T-shirts or memorabilia... Cool show .. Amazing he was in Guns N Roses so long.

      A lot of people don't know that he also plays with several blackout masks on UNDER the white mask. Dude can't see shit when he is up on stage. He has to disconnect himself from the whole deal or he can't do it or something. I know he did play in several smaller bands before Deli Creeps live and didn't seem bothered. Also, I know a few people that know/knew him personally. He doesn't really stay in touch with people that often in his personal life though... Rumor is that when Slash was out of GNR, a comment was made that the band had already lost its best songwriter, (Izzy Stradlin), best drummer (Popcorn Adler) and would never find a lead guitar player better than Slash. Buckethead being hired to that band may have been a giant middle finger to some folks. Hire possibly the most technically gifted guitarist since Roy Clark to be in your band. I remember people thinking the KFC bucket was supposed to be making fun of Slash's top hat but the bucket came way before then

    Brian Carrol is his real name. He graduated outta Musician's Institute GIT i grad outta there too. He's a bigfoot like legend there lol! Everyone that goes there goes in as solid guitarists and graduate as versatile musicians not guitarists but musicians. He had a stint with Guns N Roses and as a life long fan of GNR since '87 im not ashamed to say i really liked his live on stage work with them. I loved his duet with Robin covering Christina Aguilerra's Beautiful at the Rock In Rio 3 back in 2001. I love how at the ending of Paradise City all 3 guitarists swap leads back and forth of course Head is shredding his balls loose floppy and jangley just like the ending of November Rain lol! I highly suggest watching Rock In Rio 3 the whole concert is on here. I think u will really like it. Also contrast the songs pre Richard Fortus and with Richard Fortus especially Madagascar it'll amaze u.

    I was exactly the same. I'd heard his name on a few occasions but never checked him out, I'm not even sure why now, I suppose I'd maybe subconsciously assumed he was like a novelty act, not sure. But then this was the first video I landed on when I did finally look him up and without exaggeration, it changed everything!! No one has moved my emotions with their playing the way he does, some people dismiss him as "just a shredder" but that's so wide of the mark it's untrue! The more you listen to him, the more you hear tiny little subtleties in his playing and the level of control he has over everything under his fingers is just off the charts! It's a subjective thing, of course, but for me he's the best there's ever been!

    • @neilpatrickhairless
      @neilpatrickhairless 2 месяца назад +1

      The costume/comedy aspect is literally a way for him to detach himself personally from the performance. He's just a really quirky guy who became extremely good at playing guitar because he locked himself in a room as a young man and drilled everything Pebber Brown, Johnny Fortune, Paulo Gilberto and Shawn Lane had to teach him. There are musicians who play for money and fame and fortune and attention and we all chase it for one reason or another and then there are artists and musicians who work because they literally can't not put out their expression. It's like they feel they have to do it or they aren't living with a purpose. Buckethead is that kind of artist and musician
      I don't think he knows what to do with himself otherwise

      ""I had just seen Halloween IV", he recalls of a dark night in 1989, "and as soon as it was over I went into a store across the street and said 'Do you have any Michael Myers masks?' They had a white mask, which really wasn't like a Michael Myers mask, but I liked it a lot. That night I was eating chicken out of a bucket that my dad brought home. It wasn't a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket either. It said "Deli Chicken" on the outside. I was eating it, and I put the mask on and then the bucket on my head. I went to the mirror. I just said 'Buckethead. That's Buckethead right there.' It was just one of those things. After that, I wanted to be that thing all the time.""

    Why? Why is it always Soothsayer everyone reacts to? There are over 600 albums to choose songs from yet everyone chooses Soothsayer. I wish people would explore and review. Please check out some of the other stuff. Like maybe I don't know Labrontron or maybe Flare.

      I agree wholeheartedly but I think "Soothsayer" is his "signature" song. Most people can't even grasp how much music this one guy has put out over the years and wouldn't even know where to start. I have known about him since the early 90's and I have only listened to maybe ⅒ of his music.

      @@neilpatrickhairless welcome to Bucketheadland would be the signature song actually.

      To each his own . Personally I like him live and he never plays it the same way twice.

    Buckethead is one of my favorite guitarists but this song, in my opinion, isn't one of his better ones. The composition itself is rather bland and redundant. My favorite Buckethead songs are more melodic and emotional. For Mom, Lone Sal Bug, Big D's Touch are great examples.
    Buckethead is a riff machine. Check out the album Pike 225 in your free time. It's nonstop riff after riff.
