    I agree with the pro of being independent and not micromanaged. Long rant but I just quit my fairly new job where I knew NOTHING. I had no experience. They said training would be 2 months.. Unfortunately, only 3 weeks in the boss kept pulling me aside literally every day and telling me I was too slow, not doing good enough, and that I should know a lot more. Then she wanted me to study at home to "catch up" without paying me. As well as the senior staff member would make comments throughout the day like "come on. you should know this already"
    The problem was I knew the information. It just got very difficult to focus because of the negativity. I was sweating and so anxious all day and because of that kept making mistakes.
    I woke up one day and said fuck this and quit.
    I work best when not micromanaged. I need to take the time to learn things at my own pace. I cannot tolerate negativity. My previous job was a pharmacy technician. I did it for 5 years and I loved it and I was badass at it. It made me realize that I love talking to customers about health insurance. I hope I do well as an insurance agent :D I'm about to take the licensing exam. Yay!

    I do want to inform people before getting into the industry under a company it’s a building type job I wouldn’t suggest quitting your other job if u have one in the beginning have a side job( cause most likely ur not getting a based pay) don’t let these companies sell u dreams like ur going to be making bank first starting out u (it’s possible but that’s no reality reasons why turnover rate is very high)definitely have to be very dedicated and put in the work look at this job as like youre starting your own business! Like the companies are basically like ur vendors

    Today I was contacted by my Local district Office for Farmers insurance about potential career opportunities because they saw my resume on zip recruiter. I have a meeting on Monday to discuss what opportunities may fit for me, so now it’s time to learn more about the industry.

    • @earthorigins3509
      @earthorigins3509 Год назад

      Farmers Insurance is primarily a P&C insurance company. However, they will surely want life insurance sold also because the profit margins are greater compared to P&C and there is only one claim with Life Insurance and that's when you die. P&C could have multiple claims while you are insured.

    Got offered a sales position for a State Farm agent! Never been in sales. Is 40K base + commission with no sales experience fair? He wants me to do 40 calls per day (he buys leads) and 10 auto quotes per day. That kind of sounds like a lot to me -curious to hear your thoughts!

    • @ErinNogueira
      @ErinNogueira  Год назад +7

      That salary/commission structure sounds fair obviously not knowing what commission % is. 40 cold calls a day isn’t bad if he’s lying for the leads. Success rate on cold calls is low though so if that 10 auto quote requirement is supposed to stem from the 40 calls then that might be rough.

    Hello, my name is Sara I'm 25 years old, I currently work at a "mom and pop" type angcy currently we sell commercial insurance but we are looking to expand on doing personal in California.
    My angcy told me that they would like me to sell or "be the agent" on the personal lines. I've been working here for about four years now and I do work along side my mom. She is a GREAT agent but she even said herself she does not really want to get into personal and only really sell commercial. That right there scares me to death that my own mom doesn't really want to sell personal insurance. I don't mind learning and getting my license I've been thinking about it for a while because currently I cant speak or talk about certain things with customers that do call in for questions.
    I guess what I'm getting at or asking about is.. is it really hard selling personal insurance? I've never really been a "sales" person before and my mom has really been a great mentior for me learning commercial and she did say she would help me with personal to get me kind of started but I guess I'm just scared I've wanted to take a step up in the company some how but not in this way at lest not yet. I'm just looking for some advice I suppose I've just been kind of freaking out a bit thinking about it day and night at this point wondering if I should just do it and hope for the best or if I should just look for a different career/ job that's less stressful and not a "sales" job.
    I do love the video it did help me a lot
