    In today's video, I get my 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road tuned with the Overland Torque Tune (OTT)! I previously had the KDMax 6.0 and was happy with it but heard that the OTT was better. I had to find out for myself! Hopefully this video is informative and gives you some real-world examples of what to expect. I also want to give a shout out to my tuner Barrett and his tuning business Just So LLC. If you are in the Utah area, be sure to contact him with any questions. All helpful links are provided below.

    I’ve been running the OTT tune since Dec ‘23. I got the mild/med tune. I’m impressed with the power curve and you can definitely feel in in the 2k-3k rpm range. The only complaint that I have is that I’m still not happy with the shifting. Even when I’m using the pedal, it seems like the truck still downshifts way too much even on the slightest of inclines. Note: I’m only running 265/70R17’s. Also during local (in town) driving and I’m light on the throttle it like to jump back and forth between 5th and 6th gear way too much. The truck seems to drive its best with ECT Power button on.

    I put the KDMax 9.0 tune on my 2022 about two months ago. I love everything about it especially hitting the etc/sport button only when needed though mostly for hills and off road. The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was the noticeable loss in mpg’s. On a full tank of 87 my gauge reads around 250’ish miles range to the tank and that’s averaging around 13-15 miles per gallon for me and that’s with 33’ tires. I’m thinking I’ll do some research with a few tanks of 91 to compare but I already feel like I’m at the gas pump WAY more than I’d like to be. I’d like to try this time but at 400$ a pop that gets expensive. Has anyone out there gone from the KDMax9.0 to the OTT tune or vice verse and what’s your opinion on which is better?

      @kylemac6547 6 месяцев назад

      @mg-ke3ji honestly you can feel the torque difference. The coolest thing is the ECT button I'd customizable. So I got the hot-spicy tune. So the normal throttle response was hot snd the ECT- would move me to the quickest throttle response. This was actually too much for me. And I turned it down to mild spicy. I've got a 17 trd sport 4 door 5.5 bed. I don't run any armor and I'm on 33s. During the spring and fall we run a RTT, 2 bikes, and 2 kayaks. This probably adds another 500 (ish pounds) and the ECT button is there if I want it but I certainly don't need it.
      The guy who tuned me also has kdmax, but he switched to OTT after trying it for a few months. The shifting is faster, and especially on the highway, the torque is there for it to not scream going up hills. This is where I noticed the biggest difference, even the kd tune would downshift and hit 5.5k rpm on big hills. Not with this tune. If you're interested in talking more this is a long post but I can answer any questions you have if you drop me your instagram handle

      @mg-ke3ji bottom line is the OTT tune is the best tune I've used. I've referred 2 friends and 2 random locals to it(everyone has a taco here in NWA) and they've had the same results, the overall consensus is its the #1 mod for your truck. And definetly the best bang for your buck.

      @@MuscleAmerican what do you mean why? You changed the entire power curve. Loading up the revs on a 20 year old engine straining every part. There is a reason they run 150k that's due to the lower power curve which doenst strains the trans and engine...
      I've tuned so many cars and they all become less reliable. This is a Toyota truck not a Ferrari....
