The end of an era, soon, CGI will replace things like this, leaving nothing to cherish. Creating these items is art, it takes a real craftsman to take an idea and bring it to life.
If Bugs Bunny can become a personality to millions, the same can happen to CGI characters. Why pay someone millions just to say a few lines on camera? Besides, the audience of the future will have grown up with video game "actors" and not even think twice about it.

Some art is just incontrovertibly great. I'm sort of convinced that you can't be a good person and not at least like BTTF. It is such a satisfying, enjoyable, and ironically timeless piece of cinematic entertainment. The first film holds up so well, even 30+ years later. The sequels, not so much. But still. It's a legendary franchise.
Seeing those pictures of those deteriorating DeLoreans actually almost made me cry. It always saddens me to see beautiful old cars "suffer" so much, especially one such as such special DeLoreans. BTTF replica or original, doesn't matter. I just want to have the chance to someday get close to one for real. It may not be a good car, but it's such a beautiful and cool looking one! If I had the money, I'd definitely import one from the US and care for it as I'd care for a son or daughter. Such precious car must be preserved.
Ha! I got to sit in a delorean from the first movie. It wasn't a real one but it was a replica! I saw it in a dealership I freaked out and ran in and asked if I could sit in it. They said yes and turned on all the light up props!

Never in my life have I ever cried so hard about cars especially a movie car for the film I will never stop watching, thanks to the Dos Santos family we can see this car and tell are kids and grandkids about the films we grew up watching, thank you to the Dos Santos family
This is my favorite version of the Delorean because the Doc built it with love. He gave himself instructions on how to repair the time circuits with parts from the 1950's. He wanted to save Marty but when Marty found out the Doc was going to be killed he went back to the old west to save him. I have a model of this car which I cherish very much. Thanks for sharing.
Back in '93 I went to Universal Studios in Florida and stood next to one of the original cars from Back to the Future. 25 years later I went back and had my photo taken again with the same car. It was like seeing an old friend again after all those years. I can't think of anything else, any place or thing that I would make an effort to do that with that, other than the Delorean from Back to the Future. I can't explain in words how much of an impact these films had on me as a kid growing up in the 80's, and no doubt there will be countless other people who have similar stories to tell about these fantastic films, and these amazing cars.
Gave me a tear to my eye there at the end. I'm glad to hear that other people have the same love and admiration for these films as I do. Im also gald that this screen used DeLorean is now in good hands. It's a special film that will always have that sentimental place in my heart. 🥰
You can't put a price tag on something that is very sentimental to the heart. You are truly blessed to have one of the final cars used on set and had it restored to it's glory. One thing I haven't figured out with part 3 what was the engine sound cover for the car to make it sounds so agressive, awesome and a new attitude. I did like this version of the Delorean the best, but to ever have the privilege to drive one or even own own would be a dream come true.
Thank you so much, for posting this, and sharing this car with the world!! There were moments when I actually shed a few tears watching this... there is a blanket of comfort knowing this car is owned and loved by a true fan!
Such an amazing piece of history. Very well restored. Such a beautiful piece to do a documentary, it brought a tear to my eye and gave me tingles up my spine. Never give up that car. Keep it in the family and taken care of. I hope that one day my kids will see this car and be as awestruck as I was when I first seen it.
This car is iconic, and I'm glad it's in good hands. Your channel brings a documentary and polished feel to it which I really love! I wish more car people should know about this channel! Hats off to the DeSantos family, they singehandedly saved a world famous movie prop from extinction.
Edgar Beat Drove a beach buggy in Cozumel Mexico, they didn't wanna start, random stalls, crazy shift detents. I had a flashback watching this, even down to that high RPM 1st clutch release.
I don't know why it took me 2 and a half years to find this, but I'm sure glad I did find it. The stories, the passion, the excitement everyone has when they talk about the car, is awesome. You won't find another car or another movie that have the same lasting legacy.
Great contribution, I am now 54 years old and have lived through all facets of the 80s .. I think it's great that you keep this car in such a good condition! At the end of this video, I almost cried ... I want to go back to the 80s ... thanks for this video
Huh, part 2 appealed to him the least? Personally I loved that movie the most. The whole idea of traveling to the future and seeing how the world has advanced is really cool. Not to mention Mr Fusion and the hover mode was just cool as hell.
Great video, the car is amazing. I live down the road from the former Delorean factory in Dunmurry. At the time the cars were being produced a family friend who was an engineer was called in to help make the gull-wing doors actually fit as they had problems closing them. As a kid, shortly after the factory closed, before it was purchased by another company, you could see, virtually abandoned a sea of Deloreans, unsold. It was very sad because there was a lot of pride put into making them, the films actually helped restore some of that pride and there are plenty of people who own the cars and go on lots of excursions in them.
Chris dude! Excellent video! I actually had tears well up! That car could not be in better hands! Thank you for making this video and sharing with us! Though, they do need a VW guy to go through that engine again ;)
From 15:55, the video really brings tears to my eyes. It really captures the magic and beauty behind the movies and this car. The story that Bill told about how if the Delorean wasn't a failure, it wouldn't be what it is today really got to me. It makes me appreciate the car's history rather than try to ignore it. Plus, seeing how trashed the car looked before the Dos Santos family picked it up and seeing how pristine and amazing it looks now...it's just...wow. Videos and people like this are why I'm so proud to be a back to the future fan. Chris, thank you for the wonderful video. I keep coming back to it every couple weeks just to rewatch it. Not only for how the last 10 minutes makes me emotional, but just for the well edited and well paced cinematography as well. Thanks.
I really enjoyed that and thank you for sharing! My favourite “fantasy” car since I was a kid! And the fact that George Barris worked on restoration at one point ...wow!
Thanks to those brothers for going to the rescue of this icon from my childhood, they did a great job on the restoration, it looks great. And thanks to the father and son that bought it back and is taking proper care for it. Universal can take that in their pipe and smoke it!
watching this on November 5th 198... er um 2017 ;) It's great Bill and Patrick own this and many other great cars from film that they share. So many collections are horded away, away from the public eye...
Great video! Pure nostalgia! I found myself smiling the entire time. I'm buying a DeLorean next week. Super excited. Edit: Just got to the part where he talked about bringing smiles to people's faces. Mission accomplished gents!
It’s nice to see someone who owns a real treasure like that care so much about it and take such good care of it, and also understands not only what it means to him and his son but what it means to other people, too. Very well done, excellent video.
I 'm a big BTTF fanboy, and this story is incredible! I would never had imagined a VW aircooled engine under the hood of this De Lorean! Here in Brazil, there were lots of aircooled (VW) cars in the 60s-80s/90s, and some of them are working today in the hands of lots of old car collectors! Congrats for sharing all of this with us. I am an old car collector and passionate old car fan and I must confess that this brought tears to my eyes. I am very happy for having bumped into this video! Congrats, guys, God bless you.
As a huge back to the future fan, I have to say the feeling of getting to own and drive that would be surreal. I would want to drive that to work everyday but I would be paranoid of people tearing off all the pieces.
man tears might have formed around 18mins in where it's apart and the music changes to make the feels rise.. actually man tears were almost happening through out the whole video.
Now they need to build a train track set on their property with an electric "steam" train (smoke generator too) and put train wheels on the Delorean, that would be amazing to watch the Delorean be pushed around it! :D
@@mickjagr3538 Two different stories, one person says they actually hit the car with the train and another person says the real car used was not destroyed
This little documentary video was so well done! I’ve seen all the movies countless times. My kids have seen them all. My grandson will see them someday. Your editing and post work was top notch. I’m almost 50, but at just after the 21:00 mark, with the piano music going behind the owner speaking, a tear rolled down my cheek. Thanks for your work. 👍🏼
This video is a well-executed homage to the movie, prop makers, the DosSantos and Castillos restoring work and the new owners on how they are keeping alive this movie culture icon. I was genuinely happy when I saw the thing actually moving, it really touches your heart somewhere when you know people are putting their time into keeping this frankenstein-vehicle alive.
I believe (might be wrong), but I ran into John Schneider (Bo Duke) here in Fredricksburg Texas, and I was told he has the original, never wrecked one.

I've seen this car at several ComicCons...didn't realize it was the #3. All they were asking was $5 (donated to the Fox Foundation) to shoot a foto with you in the car, yet many people were shooting it from a distance...without paying the $5 :(
People dont realise how important movie cars are to a kids imagination eg mine. Im so proud that I can sit and watch Back to the Future trilogy with my 5 boys. Great job
Very well made mini-documentary. Never underestimate the value of Hollywood props. Nobody gave a frick (except me of course, Cuda Boy after all) about '57-'58 Plymouth "furys" until Christine or AMC Pacers until those snl nits.. and so on.. I worked in Century City when John Z displayed his cars in prototype between the twin towers - all shiny stainless steel with good looking models slinking around.... I saw the old fashion engine and stupid specs and continued to hit the Playboy Club for lunch before going back to my drone Law job.🤡

Hit head here 😂
As a former DMC owner i have to say this is an amazing video. Thank you!
Hats off to the DeSantos family, they singehandedly saved a world famous movie prop from extinction.
wow its not everyday that you see a video done this well and that its about one of the most iconic cars ever
My God, I love that man! Thank you for taking the time to show true history.
By far my favorite movie franchise of all time! Excellent video and car restoration!
I love this car, the movie, and the guys who restored it
"I'd buy more but I like being married" lol tell it how it is
This was a cool video. Made me remember seeing BTTF when it came out in the theatre. I had Reese Pieces and popcorn. It was nice..
That engine needs therapy.
I have owned loads of beetles but never heard one run so baldy as this. Carb and ignition system, timing props needs resetting. Really is poor.
Edgar Beat
Drove a beach buggy in Cozumel Mexico, they didn't wanna start, random stalls, crazy shift detents.
I had a flashback watching this, even down to that high RPM 1st clutch release.
They have confirmed the car has been tuned up since the filming of this video and runs tip-top now.
Cody Glive Thank God that was torture to watch. Too mechanically sympathetic to motors :) I love that car.
Cody Glive I was wondering if they were running it on whisky / bourbon. Would explain the bad running :)
I don't know why it took me 2 and a half years to find this, but I'm sure glad I did find it.
The stories, the passion, the excitement everyone has when they talk about the car, is awesome. You won't find another car or another movie that have the same lasting legacy.
Everyone knows you have to hit your head on the steering wheel to get it to turn back on.
That’s what I was thinking, too. He shout hit the steering wheel with his head.
Great contribution, I am now 54 years old and have lived through all facets of the 80s .. I think it's great that you keep this car in such a good condition! At the end of this video, I almost cried ... I want to go back to the 80s ... thanks for this video
“Most expensive DeLorean...” first words of the video: “it’s a VW dune buggy.”
Thanks for sharing this story. Your documentary was very well done. A fine piece of work here.
This was one of the most beautiful shot and edited videos I've seen ❤😭
oh wow. thanks so much!
I have watched this three times I am blown away cause I’ve gotten to see and sit in this car and seen their collection thanks so much for this video!!
Chris dude! Excellent video! I actually had tears well up! That car could not be in better hands! Thank you for making this video and sharing with us!
Though, they do need a VW guy to go through that engine again ;)
hahaha true. thanks so much!!
LIKE A BOSS.....this must be the coolest car to own today. You sir....are an epic human being.
When I first clicked on this video, I got what I expected, but stayed for how much more interesting it became. Awesome video.
Toxic Bubbles thank you so much!!
thank you de santos family for saveing this movie icon......growing up in the 80s. these cars always held a soft spot with me
What a great story! I am crying man tears now.
best reaction I can get :) thanks!
Same here! Such a cool story!
(WARNING JUST A JOKE) BOY SHUT YO SENSITIVE ASS UP
Nevermind I just cried
Thanks, we really appreciate your kind words!
Great video! Pure nostalgia! I found myself smiling the entire time. I'm buying a DeLorean next week. Super excited.
Edit: Just got to the part where he talked about bringing smiles to people's faces. Mission accomplished gents!
I'd love to see a video of a replica of the BTTF3 Delorean driving through the desert. That'd be awesome.
Thats one way to destroy a previous car
It’s nice to see someone who owns a real treasure like that care so much about it and take such good care of it, and also understands not only what it means to him and his son but what it means to other people, too. Very well done, excellent video.
Had shivers at the end of the video. Amazing work and story telling.
UXXV same here it truly was something beautiful indeed
Awesome Very emotional towards the end as I too love BTTF.
man tears might have formed around 18mins in where it's apart and the music changes to make the feels rise.. actually man tears were almost happening through out the whole video.
Videos like this are the only reason I haven't walked away from RUclips. Thank you.
Now they need to build a train track set on their property with an electric "steam" train (smoke generator too) and put train wheels on the Delorean, that would be amazing to watch the Delorean be pushed around it! :D
Yes and they should make it into a real time machine to actually travel in time with it.
Or you can just get the actual locomotive
I wonder what happened to that particular car..?????
Sierra Railway #3 you mean.
@@mickjagr3538 Two different stories, one person says they actually hit the car with the train and another person says the real car used was not destroyed
Driving through the B2F tunnel in gtaV brought my nostalgic mind here!
almost made me cry.....best trilogy ever!
wow what an amazing story of restoration of that care. Took somebody a lot of love.
i've seen this video 14 times. I cry every time i watch it. :"(
chen sen han wow!!! You're helping my viewer retention numbers big time. I'm so glad you like it. Thank you!
Ben Brown thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much
Wow... well done on this editing and the interviews as well as the flashback images!
Awesome video. Very well done. Would love to see one of the General Lee.
Classic G-Body Garage general Lee is definitely on my list. Gotta make it a special episode
Classic G-Body Garage my dad has a 81 Malibu and 83 elcamino
Nice!
Hey Bill!
I believe (might be wrong), but I ran into John Schneider (Bo Duke) here in Fredricksburg Texas, and I was told he has the original, never wrecked one.
Beautiful tribute. I watched the entire trilogy again today. That franchise is super, super close to my heart.
Thanks for this. What a beautifully done story. I concur with Mr. Cherrington's thoughts.
I agree with your assessment of 1/3 being the best of the 3.
And thank you RUclips BRAD 80’s hair band Pitt, for making the video ...
Beautifully shot and edited. Well told.
Thanks Chris, and huge respect to the Shea family for sharing so much passion ! Doing things to bring smiles on others faces is so rare this days, so THANK YOU Mister Shea, forsharing your passion and being so much involved in awarness. Tank you !
I've seen this car at several ComicCons...didn't realize it was the #3. All they were asking was $5 (donated to the Fox Foundation) to shoot a foto with you in the car, yet many people were shooting it from a distance...without paying the $5 :(
Yes, but many were generous. Each of the last several years we've raised more than $10,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
That piano piece almost made me cry. Beautifully done.
"He's down in the Bahn, working on the Cahs." I never tire of listening to a Boston accent haha.
Using pahts, that he sawr....
People dont realise how important movie cars are to a kids imagination eg mine. Im so proud that I can sit and watch Back to the Future trilogy with my 5 boys. Great job
This was incredible to watch. I love this man..
This was beautiful. Thank you. I'm very glad that car wound up in the hands of someone who loves it as much as I would have.
Always gonna be my favourite Trilogy, and my favourite Time Machine, beautifully video it really gived me tears.
Can not believe it has been two years since you first teased this. Well worth the wait!
Mike Dyer I'm really glad it fulfilled the expectations. That was one of the things I was really worried about. I'm glad you like it and are a loyal fan :)
Chris, I just really appreciate that a fellow car nerd has a channel dedicated to movie and TV cars, especially one with incredible production value! Doesn't matter to me if you upload 10 videos a week or a year, you seriously rock! If you ever find yourself in St. Louis you are more than welcome to go for a spin in the "Jim Douglas Special." (o\5!3/o).
Mike Dyer oh hell yeah! I'll let you know next time I'm in the area!
We'll drink to that! Of course we're Irish so we'd drink to a lynching! LOL
I don't know why but this made me cry. Back to the future is one of my favorite movies. Great content
Greeting everyone from Galway, Ireland! Love the vids guys. That's the most Boston accent that ever Bostoned..............
Thanks, we'd had a lot of practice!
One of my favorite movies of all time I give it I consider it one of my top three I love them all and it is great to see that someone is keeping the car alive
This is so Cool. Thanks so very much for sharing ❤️
I'm really happy to see the car is still going and in good hands.
I have so much love for the cars used in movies.
It's like that first car you don't ever want to sell even if you have something better in the garage.
