If I was driving the DeLorean, stopped at a gas station and got out, I'd ask the first person who came up to me: "Can you tell me what year this is?". ha ha
How is this not the top comment?
Lol 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What, are your time circuits broken?
Is what I'd reply...
@@martinda7446
nah, flux crapacitor just needs recharging
@@martinda7446 my reply to that is "I need something with a little more kick, PLUTONIUM!"
As long as Robert Zemeckis draws breath on this Earth, he won't allow a Back to the Future reboot. He owns the rights to the movie franchise. Thank God.
Amen!
Just wait. Disney will buy the rights. And ruin the entire franchise, as is their only function....
@@shewmonohoto that sounds right
Good...I hope thay never reboot these....
Who wouldn't want another BTTF movie? A spin off perhaps. After watching Ready player one, it's give you the taste for more of the Delorean.
When I saw Back to the Future all I wanted was that lifted black 85’ Toyota Pickup that Marty got at the end. I pretty much knew a DeLorean was out of the question. 😂
same here. it was my dream truck at 16 and at 24 it finally became a reality.... :)
Everybody wanted that truck.
Im going for the delorean even if it kills me.
I think more people wanted that truck than the DeLorean honestly. Everytime, and I mean Everytime I talk to someone who grew up with those movies, including me, the truck is what we end up talking about.
Marty rides and drives a flying delorean but still dreams about owning a yota
Disney: "We're Disney, we can't have incest!"
Also Disney: Buys Star Wars
@Theo1 How is it off-topic? Luke and Leia's kiss in Star Wars is incest. Sure, it's just a kiss, but it's more than anything that happens in Back to the Future.
And that kiss is pretty iconic, so it's not like Disney could say "oh, we didn't know about it!"
Star Wars is gay as hell anyway.
Clearly Theo1 banged his mother and is Ashamed!! SickO!!
@Theo1 Are you really telling someone in the RUclips comments that they're off topic? You must have been fun to be around in school
You are spot on!!! didnt think of that- Disney lost out on billions turning BTTF down almost as much as EMI turning The Beatles down
Robert Zemeckis said as long as he is alive there will never be another BTF movie. Nor a reboot. And he will pass down the rights to his kids as well. He said the movie is done and will stay done.
keithc728 thats great news
That's the best thing a filmmaker could ever say, Zemeckis putting his foot down and remaining adamant in keeping _BTTF_ as a Trilogy, no more sequels, not even a remake or reboot. And passing the rights down to kids? Best choice ever.
There needs to be a foundation created that functions as a trust for the IP associated with the rights of movies. It can be a perpetual legal custodian and can distribute funds to trustees-- producer's kids, for example, or to promote film preservation. Maybe it could be associated with the Smithsonian.
George Lucas said the same about Star Wars. LMFAO
Good, because there could never be another Marty McFly!
“Doc Brown doesn’t drive a f***ing Mustang.” Possibly one of the best decisions made in the movie industry. And a badass way to do it🤘😎

You know, there something that needs to be said about the atmosphere in this channel. Most channels have video production done to them to intros, medium to crazy transitions over to the next scenes and background music to go with showcasing a car. Jay Leno's is just straight classic in terms of the ambient in car showcases. Each showcase is quiet, peaceful while all the more it contributes to the vehicles history and background he is actually talking about. In other words I'm glad I found this channel.
Jay Leno is one classy cat.
Jay does this for fun. He does it because he loves cars. Jay's just a good guy.
Best part about it.
and his ending to a segment, nice and calm.
Back to the future will always be my favorite trilogy ✨️
Cars that i loved growing up.
BTTF deLorean
Ecto 1
K.I.T.T
General Lee.
Concept Car Dodge M4S turbo interceptor from the 1986 movie "The Wraith " would complete my list with yours.
I would love to see Jay Leno do an Episode of Christine. That is just one Sexy Beast. If it wasn't for Back to the Future and the 1989 Batman and Ghostbusters. I would not have the love for movies and cars like I do today. They really opened the door for imagination.
K.I.T.T
DeLorean
General Lee
Batmobile 89
White Testarossa Miami Vice
Those are my favorites as well. I love them. With an inclusion of Christine, Starsky and Hutchs Firebird, Max's Interceptor, Bueller's Ferrari, Blues Brothers Dodge Monaco, and the Truck from Duel has to be among my favorites. And I say I love Them because I dont see these vehicles as an Item. I see them as friends that made the world of movies, Television and Pop Culture an amazing trip. Especially The Delorean, General lee, Christine, Ecto-1, and K.I.T.T. they are all my friends. Including everyone ive mentioned in this list.
@@d.dankey1168 I agree. To me a car isn't an item. It is it's own person. Its equivalent to your significant other. And because of how 80's movies have been recieved a lot of these cars will live on. Year's ago I was doing local delivery truck driving. One Monday morning the boss hands me a delivery that was supposed to be there on Friday. He told me that I had to get it there on time,,, I told him I would if I could but the Flux Capacitor in my truck was broken. He said that we need to get it fixed. The dispatcher was laughing his A$$ off.... The boss never got it...
LMAO.
Luke Bourke hahahahahaha. Priceless!
You can tell that is a true story, funny!

I bet your boss would fall for the blinker fluid gag too.
Or the turbo headlight.
The real question is how do you wax a DeLorean?
I don't know if it's only my bias, but this car still looks sexier than 99,9% of modern cars.
And given the way it was setup for the movie I don't think a regular DeLorean would be all that great, I think I'd have to get one and have it modified to look like the one in the movie LOL.
It’s definitely your bias lmao
You're definitely delusional.

Charles Damery sadly true
Old comment but it's all love. My friend has a BTTF Delorean (his is modeled after II) and it was all built out of love. He bought the Delorean and spent 4 years turning it into a time machine. He bought it piece by little tiny piece. All because he adores BTTF
You should watch Jays video on one of his duesenbergh cars (spelling) he only managed to get the engine and frame original then he manufactured the entire rest of the car using 3D printing and it came out amazing

As someone who always loved cars one of my biggest disappointments as a teen was seeing the deloran and fast and furious cars at universal just completely sun baked and in bad shape. I was so angry I actually went and asked an employee how they could do that and he said he only serves ice cream so scram.
It is insane how little value they place on the original, historic props, and sets etc.
Yet thry will try and make millions off Replicas and Toys..
Capitalism at Work, I guess.
Same with Lost In Space, Genral Lee from Dukes of Hazard, etc etc.
@@Alvan81 I suspect they kept one General Lee for close ups and used that throughout the series, but I once read they destroyed something like 80 to 100 Dodge Chargers while making the TV show. Every time it got airborne = destroyed car. (I would also assume that after awhile they could just recycle some of the shots).
@@comicus01 there was an excellent documentary if you're into cars/props ! From what I remember the closest thing to one of the main cars was found in a junkyard in Tennessee or Arkansas something like that. But your guesstimate was pretty close from what I remember.

I'm not gonna lie, I feel pissed off when I hear about how badly Universal treats some of their most famous props. Similar to the DeLorean, The Orca used to sit on the tramway and Steven Spielberg would visit it everyday, until one day it was gone, and he called up the head of Universal who said they destroyed it for parts. 😢

Yeah without Michael j fox it wouldn't be bttf
Anyone else notice the graphic equalizer moving to the conversation?
It's a spectrum analyzer. ;-)
Probably more likely that it's just a level meter pretending to be a spectrum analyzer.
Peter Anderson, it is not a sound level meter, it is a functional RTA (Real Time Analyzer) unit. The led bars respond to a different sound frequency each. From low frequencies to high frecuencies (left to right in that order). Notice it when Jay turns on the engine, the far left led bar peaks red from the engine rumble (23:35). Pretty nice detail.
.Mayhap you're right John - I'll have a closer look. What pedants we are!
In the BTTF universe they call it the Christmas tree. What it is suppose to do is actually show the power output of the car. In the films it is usually just hovering around the green area and once the flux capacitor powers up it jumps to the red on all bars. guess its in a demo mode in this car as looks a lot cooler moving than just being at the bottom. Wish they did a segment at night with the flux band on. Did you know in the film those lights were actually white but the camera they used made them look blue
I kind of give John DeLorean a pass on the charges and all, I do think he really cared about his workers and the situation in Ireland, those jobs literally helped bring peace to a war zone for a while.
8:39 Jaw's 9 where the shark is driving a bus. Well with some movies in recent history, your not far off.

The irony was not lost on me, either. Lol
I get the joke, but DeLorean was doing some serious drug trafficking; not getting caught with personal amounts. Not in favor of it either way, but not the same thing.
@Brian Haygood yeah if 650 grams is for personal use then ok
@@brianhaygood183 Well there's a reason for that, and little known fact. - Another fun fact: Delorean is actually what spawned the Entrapment Clause in US Law!
Synopsis: During the 70's Oil embargo and gas prices tanked the economy, Delorean wasn't selling his cars and was near bankrupt; he needed roughly 300,000 to stay afloat. Side note: The late 70's early 80's, The DEA was cracking down on the influx of drugs coming in and thought the Delorean car was a joke - no way could it have been as successful in sales as it was reporting. The DEA was certain Delorean had to have been dealing in drugs. Knowing he needed 300,000 to save his company, they devised a sting.
They approached Delorean, as undercover, to pay him to literally drive the proverbial van back from Mexico for $300,000. Delorean repeatedly said no. This went on for several months and each time, Delorean said no. Finally, on the brink of losing his company, he caved, and agreed to do it, knowing it would be a 1 time thing that could save his company. DEA swooped in and arrested him.
At trial, the judge threw it out citing Entrapment; that although it was a crime, the DEA pressured, bullied, and enticed him to perform an illegal act which he normally wouldnt do (and in fact, was documented several times that he did say no).
So hence, the first usage of Entrapment as a defense in a criminal case in US. Neat!

*the refrigerator would be faster than the DeLorean*
RD, you know it wouldn't look as cool as the DeLorean.
R D they originally wanted the time machine to be a Refrigerator but they didn't want kids to get trapped in fridges
Was going to say that their legal team mentioned the word 'copy-cat'!
Deloreans may be slow compared to modern cars, but compared to its contemporaries it was respectable. Mine had plenty of power for my needs.
Attention DeLorean owners your rebate is in the trunk~~~ Robin Williams
That's the power of love - Huey Lewis and the News
jvan and Huey was worried that his career would be in jeopardy if the movie bombed because he had a very unique Hueylike cameo. Fortunately it did very well
i had the chance to buy a delorean when i was 19, wait... thats 25 years ago ... arf, but i didnt.... i decided to spend my 4 grand on a more valuable car than a "movie dream car" ..... well....
the way I heard the story of entrapment, was that a fed was reading a newspaper one day and there was a story about John D. the fed thought if I could get this guy, it would be a big promotion, a big boost to his career. So he set out posing as a drug guy that could help john get out of his financial problems. John D was told that they had his family under surveillance, and something could happen to them if he failed to cooperate .. In the end he agreed ..
I think that was all explained on 60 minutes..
King Coast! The type of fridge used in the Temple of Doom.
Marty: "Do you mean to tell me you built a time machine out of a refrigerator?"
Doc: "Sure, and it's lead-lined so you don't have to worry about the 'boys' being fried by interdimensional radiation!"
Doc: "When this refrigeration unit gets up to 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious s%&*!"
I can imagine their voices while reading that!
I hope its bigger on the inside........

DEFINITELY the Toyota! Would cost about as much to build one as ANY special project movie car though...
The car is a national treasure. A bill should be passed in Congress that guarantees the car will always remain 100% restored.
Congress will think the Russians were being the car being built.
Yeah how did the Dummies at Universal just let that treasure of a car just sit outside and rot???? F-d up!
@@easye5653 the execs that are in charge of budgeting could careless about a movie prop. In most cases I would agree, but not in this case. This movie struck a chord with a lot of people and became a classic and the car should be treated with the utmost care so that it can be enjoyed by future generations.
@Howdy Justice yes really.
A national treasure? It's a movie prop.
Compared to a stock model it’s so clear this and the film cars were slightly lowered. You can tell when they pull out the garage and he side shots going down the road. Also Jay Leno and his dry steering on that poor steering linkage trying to get out the garage 😂.
You're not going to mention that the movie version of the car didn't have a Delorean engine? They switched it out for a 1983 Porche 328 234HP 4.7 liter V8 as far as I can tell.

6:12... somewhere on that Delorean is a microphone that is directly connected to that display near the door... you can see the levels bop up and down as he's talking to Jay...
I love the time machine from the sequel with the fusion generator.
Oh right. I have to admit, I do love that it was run off of a branded kitchen appliance called "Mr. Fusion" 😂
Krups coffee grinder from Back to the Future and Alien.
Levi's must love Jay Leno
He's also a Canadian diplomat
So the light board on the left side behind the driver seat reacts to sounds? It goes crazy when Bob Gale speaks 😯😄

No this suckers electric but it need a nuclear explosion to generate the 1.21 gigawatts

Anybody else notice the audio spectrum analyzer behind the drivers seat reacting to their voices
I noticed it too
Thanks for referring to them with their real name, instead of _"sound activated LEDs"_
Ahh, man, I'd love to own a DeLorean. Those things are pretty awesome!
Mr Leno you drink and think to mucho, great interview, real chat I suppose
I have no problem getting my Delorean over 88mph. But Jay back at it with being butt hurt over John Delorean.
Great Scott!
It’s now 2022 and we still can’t get plutonium at the corner drugstore.
Doc: we out-fitted the vehicle with this big pole and hook which
runs directly into the
flux-capacitor. At the calculated moment, you start off from down the
street driving toward the
cable execrating to eighty-eight miles per hour. According to the flyer,
at 10;04 pm lightning will
strike the clocktower sending one point twenty-one gigawatts into the
flux-capacitor, sending
you back to 1985. Alright now, watch this. You wind up the car and
release it, I'll simulate the
lightening. Ready, set, release. It's the Libyans!!!!!

@26:25 Tries to make anti-Trump remark. Jay ignores him. Haha.
??????
I know someone in Australia who's converted a Delorean into an electric vehicle. It goes twice as fast as the original. If you look up Elmoto Australia your find out who did it.
A guy from Liverpool bought up all the DeLoren stock. He has enough stock to build new cars. He is in Texas supplying parts and new cars from old stock, and EV conversions.

I remember seeing back to the future 20 times in 85. From the first time as a 10 year old boy I have always wanted a delorian. Definitely will always be my dream car. I don't care what anyone says about delorians. Slow, bad quality, ECT. I don't care, one day I will have one!
Get one. I'll tell you this man if you have the want and the love and passion you will get one. I have a friend who has a BTTF Delorean (it's a part 2 one so it has the Mr Fusion) and he is a teacher. He doesn't make a lot of money but he adores BTTF. He wanted the car so he bought a Delorean and over the course of a few years slowly turned it into a time machine. He bought piece by little piece and eventually got a full screen accurate replica.
