  • In this experiment, I attempted to clone dehydrated mushrooms and revive the mycelium to be used to grow the same mushrooms. First, I tried to clone mushrooms that were dried at 130F and all attempts were unsuccessful. Then I tried to clone mushrooms that were dried by damp rid crystal desiccant and also some that were dried at 100F.
The agar plates with the damp rid dried mushroom tissue produced bacteria on all plates but one had some mycelium + bacteria. I was able to isolate the mycelium from that plate and successfully saved the culture. The agar plates containing the tissue samples from the mushrooms dried at 100F were also covered in bacteria but a few of the plates grew only mycelium without bacteria. So to conclude this experiment, it is worthwhile to clone your dried mushrooms if that is all you have or if you wish to experiment yourself.
