This guy threw it all away. A great career, worked hard, well regarded by peers. Had to be depressed after his wife filed. There are many reasons to live and go on beyond a partner/wife/husband.

from what i read he was expecting a fat pension after retirement of about 120k a year. When the wife filed for divorce he found out she was going to take half of that pension and that he would be paying her lifetime alimony. During this inflation i can see how how the paranoia and fear might have played a part in all this.

I can totally understand feeing so down and out that you want things to end. But what a coward taking others with him. I wish more people feeling this way would walk to a quiet spot in the forest somewhere and handle it themselves.

I think he was severely depressed. His home and yard unkempt compared to his neighbors, never wanted to do anything after retiring, parents both passing, wife leaving him. It finally reached a peak for him and he snapped.

All firearm owners should've undergone mental health examination regularly, including retired officers

sounds like they were living separate lives for some time and the separation actually was filed over 3 yrs ago......did he really think he was going to be loved by his grown kids and grandchildren after killing the mom?.....insanity......and evil.

both the cops who went on shooting rampages this month were going through divorces when they snapped. The wives were gonna take them to the cleaners. During this inflation it can be very scary situation for sure

Did the ex-cop have PTSD? Sounded like he had some issues, so wife left him. He got jealous and wanted to kill her? Sad.

This was a very sad situation. But some goofy news people interviewing some goofy neighbors both talking crap just makes it worse.

The frail unconscious human ego…when we as instinctual humans lose a partner one’s deepest insecurities and fears can be triggered. Being conscious of this is the only thing that separates us from primates. Education and normalization of mental health is the only way to index. Peace to the victims and families. 😢
