Hello all, I am planning on replacing my lower front control arms on a W140 because they are noisy as heck! Just wondering if I should also replace the upper front control arms at the same time. It’s hard to visually determine the effectiveness of the upper front control arm when on the vehicle. But if I do switch them out, what is the primary benefit or two? Will there be a Satisfying reward for having done it? 😅. Best regards 🤙🏻
I had a noisy squeaky sound for my ball joint which turned out to be the upper ball joint. I would check the upper ball joint with a mirror all the way around for cracks or to see if it's leaking. If not then you could disconnect the bolt connecting the ball joint to the spindle then grab the ball joint and see how easy it moves. It should be very stiff if it's in good condition. You could also check the bushings on the back and see if they're rotten or dried out.Good luck.
Thank you for the Video, doing the Upper control arms next!😊
Good luck.
Very carefully done job. Amazing video!
Thank You.
Great Vid. can you please tell me what manual you use? Thank you in advance.
Thanks. I use the MB EPC/WIS Disc set that I got on eBay for about $20. I then print off pages as needed.
when torqueing the 4 bolts to the frame and the single bolt to the spindle do you have to have the suspension loaded?
Yes, but the 4 bolts not needed.
@ka-benz is the loaded position the full weight on the tires, or just high enough to fit the bolt and torque?
@@lovedcc818 Full weight on tiers and or jack up lower control arm.
What could cause the w140 pulling right side on low speeds?
Maybe tie rods. You could get a wheel alignment.
