I love my lights and I couldn’t have installed them without you. Now I need you to show me how to replace the battery in the remote control. Thank you so much
Mary D
I loved the lights! I think I would want to figure out a better solution for all the wires. My OCD would drive me crazy every time I would look under the cabinets LOL! All in all, great review!!!!!
Love your review! I am sold will be buying these!
Thank you, hope you enjoy them
Great video! I love the back wall too. Great idea using the tape to test positions.
I planned a switched outlet inside a cabinet before remodeling. These lights worked great. Skipped the controller connector since I had the wall switch.
That's a great idea!
I just bought this exact set. Your video was quite helpful.
Thanks your video was very helpful. 👍
You're welcome!
These lights are awesome! They are link able which makes installation a breeze.
What is the best way to hid the wiring from view?
could these be used/bright enough in the ceiling for a small conservatory?
Thank you for the demo, I bought the set after seeing your demo somehow I cannot stop the flashing of the lights
Are you not able to use the remote at all? Perhaps the remote needs new batteries or isn't synced with the receiver. Make sure the RF controller is installed between the 6-way splitter and the power adapter (as shown at 0:52).
do you need to install adapter, if you are able to hardwire and work off a wall switch
The kit I have came with a wall adapter, but I believe if you use a direct wire conversion box you could direct wire the lights and use a switch for the power. [***Edit***] Aiboo has a version for direct wiring here: geni.us/Ouldb [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
Actually they do carry it. I found one here: geni.us/Ouldb [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
@@ReviewedByPhil I bought this direct wiring kit and it has 2 cords per light instead of one - now what? Do you have a video about that version? Thanks.
Great review! These are neat
I have the RF6/RGBWW. How do I stop the strobing/flashing and just have solid color lighting?? I also have a RF4/RGBWW that was working fine until I pressed the "flash" button and now it wont go back to solid color.
I initially thought that all the lights were "linkable" from light to light.
Now I see that each individual light wire needs to get plugged into the power hub.
Do you find that it creates more of a wire mess under the cabinets?
This is very helpful as far as it goes, but the video freezes at 2:13 and no amount of reloading seems to fix it. I'm desperate because my lights came without instructions.
Hm, has the problem been resolved? I was able to successfully watch the whole video just now from the RUclips webpage in Chrome on my Windows 10 laptop.
@@ReviewedByPhil Thank you! I was able to see it in chrome but still not in firefox.
if that remote was replaced with a smarthome app and wifi internet to the led controler and motion sensor It would be triple marketed for home security, smart home internet of things, and audio and lighting preset mempry instant settings. And those could just be add on features to the existing core system
There is an aftermarket module that can add WiFi app and voice control (like Alexa) to the lights that you can get at Amazon here: geni.us/uthbLSC [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] It's chainable to the included remote module so you would just add it in series as an additional controller to the circuit. It also can sync the flashing of the lights to music.
Great review, keep them coming
Nice lights
I got these same lights, but my lights won't turn on when I attach the RF controller piece. When I remove that, the lights turn on. Anyone know why?
Since the power adapter has a rocker switch on it, when also using the RF controller, the rocker switch position must always be set to the 'on' position in order to use the remote control (as this ensures the receiver has power so it can respond to the remote's signals). Then, to turn on and off the lights, use the power button on the remote control, provided its battery is not depleted.
Can you add a motion sensor module to detect when you enter a room and turn on the lights? Instead of using the remote control to turn on/off.
Yes, I suppose such a module could replace the remote control module and would be plug-and-play. It should simply be able to be swapped and work as intended.
Nice preview! Thanks!
You bet!
Awesome video thank you for the help
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback!
If I buy 2 of these kits for different parts of the kitchen, one set for under the cabinets and one for overhanging island bar top , is there a way to use one remote for both sets ?
Yes, by default the receiver should be able to respond to any universal remote using the same frequency. If you buy two identical kits, they should be on the same frequency and both receivers will respond to either remote. You can also reprogram the remote to control many receivers as well, if necessary. Usually this is performed by pressing and holding the green "Light" button while all the receivers you want it to control are plugged in and powered on.
Can you link more than 6 lights?
The specs say that you can link up to 10 lights on a single transformer. If you need more than that, it would have to go on a separate power source and have a separate controller (although you can sync one remote to pair with both controllers, so it effectively functions as one unit).
Would it work with a Smart Plug Outlet adapter for Alexa/Google Home use?
Yes, for on/off function, but you won't be able to use Alexa/Google voice control to dim them or change the color.
@@ReviewedByPhil awesome thank you
I have a window to go across is there a cable extension kit?
This kit didn't come with one, but I reviewed another kit that comes with 3 extension cables for around the same cost: geni.us/Ouldb [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] This never version includes both plug-in and direct wire installation options.
flawless, thanks.
What's the cost
You can check the current pricing at Amazon. Link in the video description.
Are these brighter than the battery operated ones?
Yes, I would say it is.
Okay thank you for the reply
Nice vid
Hello, I like your video very much.May I invite you to make a Closet Lights Motion Sensored LED unboxings evaluation
Great review, but should come with an epilepsy warning when you demo the flashing lol
Haha. I dunno, I feel like if you have epilepsy, you're probably not watching videos on RUclips about lighting. Just seems like poking the bear a bit. Also, I do note at 1:45 that I will be demonstrating the flashing light patterns later in the video, so I think if you're aware that's you're trigger that would be the point at which you'd stop watching! The warning could be more explicit though 🚨🛑!
Do you know how to reset remote if it stops working? battery is good.
First, make sure the control box/receiver for the remote is installed (see 0:52); it should be connected between the LED's power splitter and the power brick. To re-sync the remote to the control to the receiver, turn on the main power switch of the lights, then press and hold the "speed +" and "speed -" at the same time until the lights flash. Then the controller should be synced to the remote
Thank you
How many watt per light?
6 watts
It would be a lot cooler if they were motion sensor.
I believe it's easy to change from remote control operation to motion sensing by replacing the in-line RF control unit with a motion detector sensor, like this one: geni.us/ON6HZR [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] I'm not positive if you can daisy chain these modules to use both functions, but I don't any reason why that wouldn't work.
I cannot get my remote to work. How do you pair yours? Thank you!
Then the controller should be synced to the remote. Also, check that the battery saver tab has been removed from the battery bay (1:32). It's possible too that it simply needs a new battery.
What color is your granite? Thanks.
It's a cream white color.
Is this the daylight color? How to you like the color? Too blue?
No, actually this is the warm white which has a slightly yellow hue which I prefer in the kitchen. The bright white or daylight models tends to have fairly harsh/blue light which is nice and bright, but not what I wanted in my kitchen which has lots of neutral/earth tones. I think if you have a white/black/or gray color scheme in your kitchen the daylight white would work alright.
nice but how can we hide the wires?
I recommend using cable clips: geni.us/91r3 [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] See 3:30 for the solution I used. It hides them so you can't see them from the front. If you prefer, you can drill a hole next to or directly above where you will be mounting the light and feed the wires through to hide them inside the cabinet.
Can you use it without the cover.
You mean the diffusers? Sure, I don't see why not. However, I feel they'd be way too bright because of the intensity of the LED light; you'll also likely see the individual "squares" of light from the bright LEDs reflect off your countertops, if they're glossy like granite or marble.
I'm actually using them for my fish tanks that have live plants.
@@ReviewedByPhil have you had any issues with the remote not functioning amazone had a couple bad reviews on the remote lights worked great but remote sucked.
@@jerryv9962 Hm, no I haven't had issues with the remote not working, like not being being able to control the lights or turn them on/off. I did have the lights suddenly turn off while in the flashing modes once or twice. But that was only when I was testing the functionality of those settings. Since I don't really use any of the flashing modes, I haven't noticed that issue since. From what I've read, the issue sounds like it could be a problem with the RF receiver/controller.
Thanks mine will be here tomorrow so I will see. Thanks for the nice review.
Would have been nicer to hide the cables
Yes, but my mom didn't want my drilling holes in her newly installed cabinets. If it were my own, I probably would have done so.
omg no way. too complicated too much wiring. i'm looking around for more of lights on a bar instead of round individual lights.
Thanks for the epileptic fit
I'll make sure to put in a trigger warning next time.
