I make no apology for being somewhat of a fanboy of the Thermaltake Swafan EX range, they are great fans, they look great, they run very quietly, and the connection method is so simple and easy to cable manage.
The slight downside for some setups is the need for a Thermaltake control hub and software to use them.
The Thermaltake Swafan EX12 / EX14 ARGB Sync takes the hub away (reducing costs) and adds a normal 4 pin PWM connection and a regular 3 pin 5v ARGB connection!!
These are now compatible which pretty much EVERY modern motherboard or ARGB control hubs. And it is now MUCH cheaper!
This is a great addition to the Thermaltake range.

At this price point its going to be difficult to beat for this level of functionality and performance. Yeah they may have borrowed some design elements from other manufacturers but if they are coming in cheaper with equal performance then who are we as consumers to complain ? Thanks Mike and Kath.
very true, although i wonder what TT will say when someone does the same to them
We borrowed nothing from anyone, these are our own design of magnetic connection.we have just designed a newer magforce design.this is on our new Toughfan EX PRO fans
@@thermaltakeuk any pln to update the swapable blade magnetic connector?
Great connectivity both to each other fan and simplified cabling! Perfect for show case pc Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath 🐈👍
Our pleasure!
Great review Mike ,thanks
No problem. Makes it easy with a very nice product, most of the work is done for me
I'm already in with Tt, I have the TH420 ARGB V2 Ultra AIO but NOT the Tt hub. This is an interesting hybrid w/ARGB connection allowing me to buy the hub in the future if I want...neat!
Thanks for the uk buy link
Looks good, Mike. Feel free to send me 12 of the black EX14 fans. 😂 Um, the "cheaper version" is still almost $90. That means If I buy enough fans for my case they will cost twice as much as my C750 case.
Yes they are awesome, however...they are WAY too expensive for my shallow pockets. Thanks for sharing Mike and Lady Kath. Take care everyone. Cheers
yeah the fan market is nuts budget bangers like the thermalright cl12c triple pack for £13 or these for a lot more :-)
@@mikesunboxing I looked at those and I agree. I'd buy those. Take care guys. Hope George is luvin' his new computer. Cheers
@@rickh8380 Thanks Rick 🙂
Nice tech, but man are these expensive. To paraphrase an old joke (or two): “I had to sell my case to buy SWAFANs" :-)
I know. TT CTE C750 Air case, $170. TT Fans for said case, $350. 😱
I am 100% going to put 12 of these in the new tower 600 when it comes out next month.
Nice! Send pics to discord when you’re done
Thank you for the information! What software are you using to control rgb? And are you using a hub?
i use the motherboard software for the board so msi mystic light and a hub is useful if you have more fans than ports, although the daisy chain nature of these fans sort of helps with that
OK, treat me gently but built my first PC self build at Christmas, phase 2 is swapping out the cheap noisy fans which came with the case and also i want to reduce cable clutter. These fans seem good value compared to the Corsair ICUE Link fans, any recommendations? PS - great video as always
these are a good choice if you don't want to get locked into a specific RGB ecosystem. There are many options on the market with pros and cons. These for me tick a lot of boxes and lots of potential mounting options. But that comes at a price
Very nice, but going to wait for Sahara Gaming ones..
yeah i know right, they are close contenders
@@mikesunboxing The main reason is the price..
Thermaltake doing it right with no proprietary B.S. ...that's why I'm a long-time customer.
these are great and the simple connection makes life much easier
How would be the rear, front and bottom fans interconnection in this particular kit? Is it possible to daisy chain them through the cables, so I can interconnect rear, upper, bottom and front fans together using only one last cable into the motherboard? I'm planning to use 6 of these fans and my mobo has only one ARGB socket. I didn't see anything about it in any of the videos of this kit on RUclips, please help me. Thank you!
there are 3 magnetic connections in the box one for each fan if needed, or use the linked together the choice is yours
@@mikesunboxing Yeah, I've seen it, but can these magnetic connections be attached from one fan to another fan?
@@mikesunboxing another question: this kit works with the TT software? If not, how is the individual LED customization?
is it possible if I can use the software to connect my ARGB fans still? I have one RGB and the thermaltake hub but the 3 pins to the ARGB fans do not connect
there is a thermaltake ARGB sync adapter to do that
Do you know where I can buy a thermaltake ARGB sync adapter? I tried looking one up but have not had any luck.

@@mikesunboxing I have this and there is no way to connect the TT ARGB fans to this. And on the website, it says that the connectors will not work on this.
@@jonifond64 sorry what is it you are trying to do, i am a little confused, if you have the same fans as in the video you just need a ARGB hub if that is what you are asking
@@mikesunboxing I have the thermaltake ARGB fans. It has the connectors of 3 pin argb connection and a 4 pin pwm connection. On the TT sync, it only has a 9 pin male connection. There is no way to connect the argb 3/4 pin to the thermaltake sync controller for the pins do not connect. It is somewhat hard to explain. My question is, when you said that the cords are interchangeable, are you using the rgb fan cords to connect the argb fans to the tt sync?
@@jonifond64 okay i think i understand. if you have the fans with the 3 pin argb and pwm you don't need the controller, the fans are controlled via the motherboard, if you want more ports then you need a more basic argb hub not a controller
I like the RGB looks good. but did turn all RGB off on me pc.
using too much power. not by the LED's but by the software 😞
RGB software is a hidden CPU cost, and some software can use a LOT of CPU power
Downsides??? I can think of a hundred of them! (Or near as dammit)! Not to mention waiting nearly 2 weeks for them to be delivered from the US!
that is pretty slow shipping

I can literally count every single led from outside. Even from the picture on the packaging...
congratulations you don't need an eye inspection
@@mikesunboxing is it really that bad? i mean the lighting spread...
@@patrickgstir To me personally it is very well difused, but sometimes the pictures and videos (our camera) show them differently
This is a poor man’s fanny!
