On their marriage anniversary Lowell gives Xiao a gift - a basket of 365 candies, all different, one for each day since when they got married - and promises to keep giving her a basket every year. ......at least they can be together as books and memories now

My Xiao battle experience: -Finally beat Xiao after a few tries -Cutscene happens -Rejoice -Xiao awakens E.G.O -Boss music starts -Every librarian is already almost dead -Strength stacking weakened -*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
My God, so similar Swear I had 4 librarians on the verge of death and red mist well off going into round two. I'm just like shit let's see how far we can go here guys. My A-team is just fighting their hearts out, one by one sacrificing themselves to let the rest continue as the wildfire grew higher around them. Finally the brutal attrition ended with a whimper as all were out of light from one desperate gambit after another. Didn't really realize that I'd have another chance until Xiao at half health was charging to the next floor. I whip up my b-team of half baked decks that turned out to rely on power effects way less. They manage to tank through much of the damage and trigger a final reverse scale to knock her out just as their health was reaching the end, all with 20+ stacks of flame. Just, damn. Roller coaster every step of the way, one of my favorite bosses, and such great music.
-Running Malkuth -Burn based build (Wanted to out-burn the opposition, display of dominance against pixels, you know how it goes). -Had just obtained Unstable Book of the Crying Children, so much burn. -Crawl through 1st phase. -"Ba Xi: Take no damage from Burn..." -Cry for roughly 20 minutes.
i ended up attributing the red mist page onto Yesod's floor and using chained wrath for 4 maxed out speed die and myo's prowess for the strength boost. Solemn Lament completely decimates Xiao's stagger bar with this build it felt like cheating lol.
Even when you see what's coming the fight can still dumpster you. I planned for Geb to face phase 1 and Yesod to face phase 2. Geb's floor was left in poor shape, bit Yesod's team was stacked, so I thought I'd be fine since I knee what I was doing . . . Cut to a few scenes later, all of Yesod's floor died to a single instance of Burn. I was tempted to give up . . . Until I sent Geb in and realized her stagger bar hadn't refilled. A well-timed EGO activation and Great Split Horizontal sealed her fate.
Honestly love the symbolism in the song and how Xiao talks to Carmen(the voice she hears; the beautiful voice that distorts.) And by displaying the qualities that X developed by undergoing the Core Suppressions, she resists and fends off the Distortion completely, and even after everyone around her dies and she's left alone, she doesn't fall to despair and her resolve to fight on as a warrior should, to persist and create the future completes her E.G.O.
honestly if Philip’s teleporter had teleported him anywhere else except right inside of the 8’clock circus’s tent he might’ve had a chance to fully develop his ego

It seems - based on the bottom of the description/official lyrics - there are some deeper meanings to the Chinese words "话梅糖/Huameitang", "奶糖/Naitang", and "麦芽糖/Maiyatang". Googling their meanings and google-translating the notes reveal that: - 话梅糖/Huameitang, Sugar Plum Candy. Sugar plum is known to be very sour. The line "So I chewed on Huameitang" can be interpreted as "Forcing myself not to speak." or "Swallowing what I wanted to say." - White Rabbit 奶糖/Naitang, Milk Candy. It is apparently a symbol for "pure love" in Chinese culture. The line "I’m on my last white rabbit Naitang" can be interpreted as "This is the end of our love/my love to you." - 麦芽糖/Maiyatang, Starch Syrup/Malt Sugar Candy. It means "Love that is light, sweet, but not sticky" in Chinese culture. The line "And just sucked on Maiyatang." can be interpreted as "I didn't want our love to become a burden.", yet it became a regret, as earlier lyrics revealed. Bonus Notes: - The word "威武/Weiwu" and the whole court analogy. Apparently in ancient China, local courts would set a gong/drums by the door for people to bang when they believe there is a misjudge. The word "威武/Weiwu" is muttered by all court guards to announce that court is in session. - The word "残想/Canxiang" could mean "remnant", "regret", or even "guilt" in the lyrics. If anyone happens to know the languages better, please feel free to add to this! I love multi-lingual songs like this, especially the ones by Mili, and I love figuring out the cultural meanings of foreign words in their songs.

For the “Huameitang” part, “Huamei” can be seen as 话没 (no words) for they have the same pronunciation. Could be “I have no words left for you” or “I failed to say anything when I genuinely wanted to tell you how I feel” Also plum is sorta related to love in Chinese culture... though it actually refers to the “childhood friends to lovers” type White Rabbit Naitang (milk candy) ,大白兔奶糖, is a famous branded product among Chinese (worldwide I believe?) I think the line "greed is unlimited, freedom is a limited resource" doesn't have to limit itself to just the Library, we see time and time again in the game that the City is primarily driven by money, and that no one is particularly capable of escaping the system it cycles through. I guess finding new meaning to bits and pieces of these songs are why I constantly come back to them outside of the game. That and they just slap hardcore and make me cry like a little baby
I think most people missed out what PM implies, seeing Xiao as a heroine and all. Seeing how in her last monologue before her last stand-off, she is referring herself as a dragon and threatening us a star of the city shall perish. Pretty sure she and her colleagues had hopes of her being the dragon to burn the entire library down and triumph. But just like the names of the children of the dragon who never becomes a dragon themselves , In the end she was just a widow fighting till the bitter end for the sake of her ideals she believed in. And with that I don’t respect and remember her as a heroine/dragon, but as a warrior who has the sheer will to stick firmly to her goals. With firm determination and not be overwhelmed with sorrow and despair, despite losing her beloved and seeing her comrades fall one by one. And that pure intention is what makes her EGO complete.
Whilst it is very much so implied, but... Like, that doesnt contradict being a Heroine, and she has earned the aftermath title of a dragon. It is quite common for someone that was highly regarded to be crowned higher after death if anything. She was the Heroine of her story, and you could say that she was the fish that leaped through the gate to become a dragon. (Though in her case, her passive does read the Nine Children, that said, she can still be an honorary dragon, it can also reference other things. As she doesn't really resemble any of the Nine Children of Dragon.) She is also a valiant and honorable warrior that was steadfast and endured till the end. When she manifested those EGO, the outcome of the battle didn't matter anymore to who she is, and what she is. I would remember her as all these, not just one or another, it is a way of paying respect. Though btw, her name spelled in English implies it is the word for 晓, a word that has to do with the sun, the day and all such. ...but for some reason her Chinese name reads 邵(shao)??? Which means nothing other than being names. Like, Xiao makes more sense too, as it also implies to be the sunrise and sunset. It fits her so well that I am not too sure why her name isn't the same. Only valid explanation is that Shao is her Surname and Xiao is her first name, as Xiao isn't a family name but Shao is.

Xiao as daybreak “曉” is quite interesting, but kind of overlaps with dawn as in the theme of Dawn Office, and that’s not a common surname or a whole first name. Feels more like PM using “蕭” but Chinese translation changed it to 紹 since 蕭 is more of a surname
Her general style has less to do with a descendant of Dragon trying to become a Dragon. Her case is definitely a Carp leap through the Gate to be a Dragon. It takes luck, work and determination to make this change. Which is why I think she has earned it. Our of her design, nothing really suggest her identity being a descendant either. All nine sons of Dragon are very, distinct, and I don't feel like Xiao really has to do with them. So I much more prefer her being a Carp ("normal" person) to leap through the gate with hard work, will power and help from others. Yeah 晓xiao would overlap a little with Dawn Office. But on the other hand, they are on the same line of story, and... Xiao, has that feeling of what Philip would be. So I don't think that is out of the window just because the style overlap, in fact I feel like they are intentionally overlapped. Yeah, but in general though, 邵(the official character used for the Chinese translation) is STILL a Surname. Idk why either. So I am going to kinda buy a theory that, 邵is the Surname and Xiao(which ever one it is) is her first name. And tbh, it isn't the weirdest to have Xiao as your full first name, sure it isn't exactly common either but due to Chinese naming, nothing prevents it or work against it. That said, only othe reason for the name is just symbolism behind it. Since 邵shao doesnt mean anything, it seems more randomly picked and hard to dig around. Where as Xiao just seemed to be implying to be 晓(which has to do with the entirety of Day, not just Daybreak and Eventide, which allows it to go past Dawn Office as well.)
Lib in its own is a tragedy. Xiao here can be seen as a fallen heroine. AKA a tragic heroine which if this is her ( as @Adam Xue said "of her story"), she indeed qualifies. ps I wouldn't be surprise if the game gets a tragedy tag by the ends of production. I didn't want to kill her, I took no pleasure in defeating her, still, her righteous fury impressed me, and her badass boss fight forced me to do my best and retry multiple times. She showed me what mankind was capable of. I hope she's with Lowell now and that both can be brought back.

Watching Gebura 1v1 Xiao while all my other nuggets microwaved themselves in the background was super cool, as far as anime moments go, Xiao was one of the best, specially when The Red Mist changes the Background theme as the fight swings in favor of your Librarians

Yeah, people give Xiao too much credit. Xiao had Miris by her side to inform her of everyone’s unconditional support while Philip only had people with malicious intent to break him down when his emotion is at the most unstable.
@@張皓鈞-l6v Indeed, while Xiao is certainly a badass in her own rights and had a rather strong will with equally strong determination, she also had someone to stand beside her. Someone to actually support her and tell her to hold it together. Philip, on the other hand, had people telling him that it was, indeed, his fault, that he was nothing more than a coward and a misfit for having strong emotions, and Oswald. Who then proceeded to show him his dead loved ones trash-talking him. Honestly, I doubt that Xiao could've survived half of what Philip did...
Roland also mention that if Oswald doesn't come and mass with Phillip head, he should overcome the lost by now. That poor man just have the worst of luck.

@@alexcollins9954 1. I split the classes into 3 different ones with a variety of subclasses: - Fixer, based on Fighter - Gunslinger/Gunner, based on casters - Egoist, based a little bit on Monk 2. The characters are inhabitants of the City, and most of the events (so far) have taken place in District 13. Session 1 was them meeting by chance at HamHamPangPang.

Her design is more akin to Guan Yu with her Dragon and Yan Yue Blade. But with Red instead of blue/cyan. Also with a ton of Molten lava and fire instead of the ocean vibe.
everyone calls her Lu bu, mostly for her armour. And of course the iconic helmet plum ( I don't know what they are called) that is popularized by Dynasty Warriors. Although I might find her design to be a mix of Guan Yu and Lu Bu.

Considering what Carmen implies at the end of Ruina, the full effect of the Light was probably to give everyone at once the ability to either Distort or get an EGO, so if that is the actual effect, the light might just end up making everything worse in the end, but idk, the seed of light thing has somehow just become more vague as time goes on, thanks for everything Ayin
@@heartbae87 I think that might refeer more to the fact you have knowledge of EVERYTHING your enemies can do in the Library the moment they get in, Xiao's EGO being no exception the moment the fight starts you'll know almost everything she can do, so yeah rigged game.

My Xiao battle experience:
-Finally beat Xiao after a few tries
-Cutscene happens

My God, so similar
Swear I had 4 librarians on the verge of death and red mist well off going into round two. I'm just like shit let's see how far we can go here guys.
My A-team is just fighting their hearts out, one by one sacrificing themselves to let the rest continue as the wildfire grew higher around them. Finally the brutal attrition ended with a whimper as all were out of light from one desperate gambit after another.
Didn't really realize that I'd have another chance until Xiao at half health was charging to the next floor.
I whip up my b-team of half baked decks that turned out to rely on power effects way less. They manage to tank through much of the damage and trigger a final reverse scale to knock her out just as their health was reaching the end, all with 20+ stacks of flame.
Just, damn.
Roller coaster every step of the way, one of my favorite bosses, and such great music.
-Running Malkuth
-Burn based build (Wanted to out-burn the opposition, display of dominance against pixels, you know how it goes).
-Had just obtained Unstable Book of the Crying Children, so much burn.
-Crawl through 1st phase.

i ended up attributing the red mist page onto Yesod's floor and using chained wrath for 4 maxed out speed die and myo's prowess for the strength boost. Solemn Lament completely decimates Xiao's stagger bar with this build it felt like cheating lol.
She wasn't lying when she said "Be prepared; for today, a Star of the City shall be gone."
Even when you see what's coming the fight can still dumpster you.
I planned for Geb to face phase 1 and Yesod to face phase 2.
Geb's floor was left in poor shape, bit Yesod's team was stacked, so I thought I'd be fine since I knee what I was doing . . .
Cut to a few scenes later, all of Yesod's floor died to a single instance of Burn. I was tempted to give up . . . Until I sent Geb in and realized her stagger bar hadn't refilled. A well-timed EGO activation and Great Split Horizontal sealed her fate.
Honestly love the symbolism in the song and how Xiao talks to Carmen(the voice she hears; the beautiful voice that distorts.)
And by displaying the qualities that X developed by undergoing the Core Suppressions, she resists and fends off the Distortion completely, and even after everyone around her dies and she's left alone, she doesn't fall to despair and her resolve to fight on as a warrior should, to persist and create the future completes her E.G.O.
It shows the difference between her and Philip, between E.G.O. / Psychoment and Distortion.

It seems - based on the bottom of the description/official lyrics - there are some deeper meanings to the Chinese words "话梅糖/Huameitang", "奶糖/Naitang", and "麦芽糖/Maiyatang". Googling their meanings and google-translating the notes reveal that:
- 话梅糖/Huameitang, Sugar Plum Candy. Sugar plum is known to be very sour. The line "So I chewed on Huameitang" can be interpreted as "Forcing myself not to speak." or "Swallowing what I wanted to say."
- White Rabbit 奶糖/Naitang, Milk Candy. It is apparently a symbol for "pure love" in Chinese culture. The line "I’m on my last white rabbit Naitang" can be interpreted as "This is the end of our love/my love to you."
- 麦芽糖/Maiyatang, Starch Syrup/Malt Sugar Candy. It means "Love that is light, sweet, but not sticky" in Chinese culture. The line "And just sucked on Maiyatang." can be interpreted as "I didn't want our love to become a burden.", yet it became a regret, as earlier lyrics revealed.
Bonus Notes:
- The word "威武/Weiwu" and the whole court analogy. Apparently in ancient China, local courts would set a gong/drums by the door for people to bang when they believe there is a misjudge. The word "威武/Weiwu" is muttered by all court guards to announce that court is in session.
- The word "残想/Canxiang" could mean "remnant", "regret", or even "guilt" in the lyrics.
If anyone happens to know the languages better, please feel free to add to this! I love multi-lingual songs like this, especially the ones by Mili, and I love figuring out the cultural meanings of foreign words in their songs.
I believe Canxiang means 残响 (reverberation but nothing to do with blu hole just pure coincidence) or 残香 (scent remained) here; 残想 isn’t really a word just two Chinese characters together
Both have a “what was left of you” vibe... The former is more like “and then is heard no more” (UwU), you’re gone and no longer by my side; latter feels more like “However faint I still have something of you with me”
For the “Huameitang” part, “Huamei” can be seen as 话没 (no words) for they have the same pronunciation. Could be “I have no words left for you” or “I failed to say anything when I genuinely wanted to tell you how I feel”
Also plum is sorta related to love in Chinese culture... though it actually refers to the “childhood friends to lovers” type

I think the line "greed is unlimited, freedom is a limited resource" doesn't have to limit itself to just the Library, we see time and time again in the game that the City is primarily driven by money, and that no one is particularly capable of escaping the system it cycles through. I guess finding new meaning to bits and pieces of these songs are why I constantly come back to them outside of the game. That and they just slap hardcore and make me cry like a little baby
In a few cases, it's not about the money, it's about the message...that's certainly the case with the Reverberation Ensemble.

I think most people missed out what PM implies, seeing Xiao as a heroine and all.
Seeing how in her last monologue before her last stand-off, she is referring herself as a dragon and threatening us a star of the city shall perish. Pretty sure she and her colleagues had hopes of her being the dragon to burn the entire library down and triumph.
But just like the names of the children of the dragon who never becomes a dragon themselves ,
In the end she was just a widow fighting till the bitter end for the sake of her ideals she believed in.
And with that I don’t respect and remember her as a heroine/dragon, but as a warrior who has the sheer will to stick firmly to her goals. With firm determination and not be overwhelmed with sorrow and despair, despite losing her beloved and seeing her comrades fall one by one. And that pure intention is what makes her EGO complete.
Whilst it is very much so implied, but...
Like, that doesnt contradict being a Heroine, and she has earned the aftermath title of a dragon.
It is quite common for someone that was highly regarded to be crowned higher after death if anything.
She was the Heroine of her story, and you could say that she was the fish that leaped through the gate to become a dragon.
(Though in her case, her passive does read the Nine Children, that said, she can still be an honorary dragon, it can also reference other things. As she doesn't really resemble any of the Nine Children of Dragon.)
She is also a valiant and honorable warrior that was steadfast and endured till the end.
When she manifested those EGO, the outcome of the battle didn't matter anymore to who she is, and what she is.
I would remember her as all these, not just one or another, it is a way of paying respect.
Though btw, her name spelled in English implies it is the word for 晓, a word that has to do with the sun, the day and all such.
...but for some reason her Chinese name reads 邵(shao)???
Which means nothing other than being names.
Like, Xiao makes more sense too, as it also implies to be the sunrise and sunset. It fits her so well that I am not too sure why her name isn't the same.
Only valid explanation is that Shao is her Surname and Xiao is her first name, as Xiao isn't a family name but Shao is.

Xiao as daybreak “曉” is quite interesting, but kind of overlaps with dawn as in the theme of Dawn Office, and that’s not a common surname or a whole first name. Feels more like PM using “蕭” but Chinese translation changed it to 紹 since 蕭 is more of a surname
Her general style has less to do with a descendant of Dragon trying to become a Dragon.
Her case is definitely a Carp leap through the Gate to be a Dragon. It takes luck, work and determination to make this change.
Which is why I think she has earned it.
Our of her design, nothing really suggest her identity being a descendant either. All nine sons of Dragon are very, distinct, and I don't feel like Xiao really has to do with them. So I much more prefer her being a Carp ("normal" person) to leap through the gate with hard work, will power and help from others.
Yeah 晓xiao would overlap a little with Dawn Office.
But on the other hand, they are on the same line of story, and...
Xiao, has that feeling of what Philip would be.
So I don't think that is out of the window just because the style overlap, in fact I feel like they are intentionally overlapped.
Yeah, but in general though, 邵(the official character used for the Chinese translation) is STILL a Surname. Idk why either.
So I am going to kinda buy a theory that, 邵is the Surname and Xiao(which ever one it is) is her first name.
And tbh, it isn't the weirdest to have Xiao as your full first name, sure it isn't exactly common either but due to Chinese naming, nothing prevents it or work against it.
That said, only othe reason for the name is just symbolism behind it.
Since 邵shao doesnt mean anything, it seems more randomly picked and hard to dig around. Where as Xiao just seemed to be implying to be 晓(which has to do with the entirety of Day, not just Daybreak and Eventide, which allows it to go past Dawn Office as well.)
To me she felt like a manifestation of Fatalis
Lib in its own is a tragedy. Xiao here can be seen as a fallen heroine. AKA a tragic heroine which if this is her ( as @Adam Xue said "of her story"), she indeed qualifies.
ps I wouldn't be surprise if the game gets a tragedy tag by the ends of production. Meh Haven't seen a great tragic game in a while :3 very much needed! CUZ FAWK U TLOU 2 D:

Yeah, people give Xiao too much credit. Xiao had Miris by her side to inform her of everyone’s unconditional support while Philip only had people with malicious intent to break him down when his emotion is at the most unstable.

Philip, on the other hand, had people telling him that it was, indeed, his fault, that he was nothing more than a coward and a misfit for having strong emotions, and Oswald. Who then proceeded to show him his dead loved ones trash-talking him. Honestly, I doubt that Xiao could've survived half of what Philip did...

1. I split the classes into 3 different ones with a variety of subclasses:
- Fixer, based on Fighter
- Gunslinger/Gunner, based on casters
- Egoist, based a little bit on Monk
2. The characters are inhabitants of the City, and most of the events (so far) have taken place in District 13. Session 1 was them meeting by chance at HamHamPangPang.

So Volga from Hyrule Warriors?
Her design is more akin to Guan Yu with her Dragon and Yan Yue Blade.
But with Red instead of blue/cyan.
Also with a ton of Molten lava and fire instead of the ocean vibe.
everyone calls her Lu bu, mostly for her armour. And of course the iconic helmet plum ( I don't know what they are called) that is popularized by Dynasty Warriors.
Although I might find her design to be a mix of Guan Yu and Lu Bu.
