I'd love to see a full hair care routine!
SAME!!🙏❤
Can you talk about the popular natural trends like: using rosemary oil, Castro oil, or even rice water on hair/scalp - is it actually beneficial?
Yes please! I’ve been doing the rosemary essential oil with a carrier oil. I hope I’m not doing any harm…
Yes please!
There's studies around rosemary oil where it is compared with minoxidil 2% and found to have a similar effect. Check out pubmed yourself
I can't use oils on my scalp cuz I have dandruff, even though I would love to. But since I can't, I use rosemary water after every shower. And I apply an enough amount of coconut oil on my lengths everyday.
As a hairstylist of almost a few years, I can share with you you, that you're not intended to apply harsh shampoo on your hair.
I have observed hairlines of numerous people, and I spotted that individuals who were using strong shampoos generally had weak hairline.
So I suggest only to use natural shampoo only. I myself use and advise to apply litttleextra coconioon shampoo only.
Also, do warm oil massage twice a week as it boosts circulation and encourages hair growth.
Sooooo needed this!!!!! Could we have a video on how to determine what is causing itchy flakes....how to diagnose the difference between dandruff, dermatitis and dry scalp.....
Yes please!
Yes, I would love this! Also would love product recommendations for treating these scalp conditions!
Yes please!
Yes please.
So interesting about oil & frequency of washes!!! I wonder why every single hairstylist I’ve ever met preaches to wash your hair less to decrease oil production. I will definitely trust the credibility of a dermatologist vs a cosmetologist! Loved this vid.
It makes sense, doesn't it - you wouldn't wash your face less hoping it would produce less oil...
I know ! I am annoyed too cuz I have fine hair that needs to be washed more often.
Would love a video about thinning hair and what products you would recommend to help. Would a collagen supplement help? Any advice would be much appreciated!
This is all stuff ive learned on my own. Absolutely love this video. So much great knowledge. i wish every girl going through a hair journey comes across this video
Wonderful video. I’m a 31 year old guy and beginning to become extremely self conscious about my hair. It was reassuring to learn how many hairs we shed daily. The shedding is definitely more apparent when I shower at night and it’s definitely sucked some joy out of my nightly skincare routine to see hair on my sink etc. Wishing you the best and that I was not on the opposite coast in NYC to be your patient. 😊
Excellent video. Really enjoyed this one. So many useful facts and I love when u debunk myths. Would love a video on nails as well. 💅🏼
THANK YOU for telling the truth behind all the “rumors” I have heard for so long!!
I have been begging an actual derm to do a video like this!!! Thank you!!!!! So tired of relying on influencers because I couldn’t find the SCIENCE! You busted a number of myths for me! One remaining- sulfate shampoos and silicone conditioners- friends or foes? THANK YOU!!
Ohh yes good questions I want to know too!
Im not an expert, i learned this when i started my hair journey. If you have oily scalp or you have dandruff, there is nothing bad about using a sulfate shampoo. In fact, you should opt for it to get a clean and non itchy scalp. Im not saying sulfate gets rid of dandruff tho. But if you have dry scalp, and the sulfate shampoo dries it out even more (cuz it depends on the person plus the sulfate percentage in shampoos is very little and regulated), u can opt for a sulfate free one. In all cases, just make sure to not compromise a clean scalp. A dirty scalp can lead to hairfall. For an oily scalp, the sulfate will do more good than bad. When it comes to the silicone conditioner, it's not bad to use it on the hair especially amodimethicone, but make sure the conditioner isn't loaded with many silicones cuz it can weigh down the hair on the long-term, even if it makes it super soft and shiny for the time being.
She has a video on this, busting hair myths or something along these lines.
The video I’ve been waiting for. Thank you!!
You’re hair is beautiful! Please continue this series by doing a video on the products you recommend to stop hair shedding and also to keep her healthy. Thank you for your great videos!
Very helpful insights on hair. Would love to see a similar take on nails. Especially about soft nails and what can be done to strengthen them. And, the impact of long time use of gel manicures.
I’d love to know how to take care of very fine hair. Pain of my life
This is really useful. I would love to see another video on the topic of hair issues, including any dietary or product recommendations you might have.
I'm constantly concerned about hair shedding, water temperature, pretty much everything you mentioned. I always look forward to your professional advice. Thank you!
So professional and realistic. Lover her videos. Just facts and holistic approach!
Mind blown! Really learned a lot in this video. I have always been concerned about losing my hair in huge clumps while in the shower. This video put me at ease that I am not losing too much hair. Would love to see a similar video on nails, specifically how to make them stronger so I can grow them out. I have found that as I age, my nails are breaking easily and I cannot get them long like I did in my twenties and thirties. Thanks Dr. Ellis!
Great insight, Doctore! Thanks ❤
Thank you so much for exactly the questions I and I am sure many people have. Love your channel. Thank you.
Great video. I would love to see a video on how you diagnose the various types of hair loss!
so clear and well-delivered without repeating and droning on.. thank you!
THANK YOU for a very informative video.
I learned a great deal! I would love to know how you care for your beautiful hair. Have a great week!
Yes everyone on Reddit says you need to rinse off your conditioner with freezing cold water to seal in the cuticle! Thank you for clarifying!
I love these type of videos, I’ve been experiencing thinning and dull hair for about 2 years now and my hair won’t grow past my shoulders. I’ve always had long healthy hair until now and for some reason it is getting thinner and thinner and I have lost 60% of my hair but no bold spots. Would love for you to do more videos for thinning hair 🤗
You might want to go to your doctor and get a blood test to check your vitamin d levels. I'm definitely not a dermatologist, but I have heard a lot of people say they have the same issues with their hair as you and that the culprit was being vitamin d deficient.
@@sarahp4420 thank you so much for the info. I will definitely make appointment to get this checked.
Thyroid issues can also cause hair loss I believe. Good idea to chat with Dr make sure you covered all your bases
This sounds exactly like what I've been going through for the last 2 years as well!!! It's heartbreaking when your hair was once thick and long now it's just gone. Sending u lots of love hun I know how hard this is💜💜🙏🏼
@@staceybextel4564 yeah I will definitely get some blood work to check my thyroid levels as well. Something has to be wrong for this to happen so drastically.
Wow so informative!!!
Thank you Dr. Ellis. This video was super informative. I knew almost none of these facts. As always love your videos 🥰
Love it . Very informative ❤️!!!
Please do your hair care routine 🙏
This was a wonderful video. Incredibly informative! Thank you!
If you could do in general more videos about hair health, that would be so great!! Thank you 🙏🏻
I feel like this video was made for me. This particular issue has been top of mind for me recently and I'm really pleased to see that the advice you give aligns with the guidance I was very recently given by my own dermatologist.
Thank you so much 😊. More videos about hair , hair loss and treatment please
Very informative and interesting...love the content, thank you!
MORE HAIR & NAILS VIDEOS PLEASE!! 😍
Awesome topics! Thank you 😊
Amazing video!! Thank you🙏
So well spoke.
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing such great information! As a cosmetologist, I’d love to hear more about hair color affects on follicles and and one with fine, thin ;and thinning) hair- I’d love to hear your thoughts on how to refresh the follicles and how to strengthen thin strands!
Oh my gosh this is so interesting. We had a dermatology rotation in med school but didn't go nearly as deep into hair care. I'm taking notes :D
Excellent video, thanks so much!
Thank you so much! This video was immensely helpful
once again, an awesome video that all of us girls have been needing❤️
Thank you! Very interesting.
Would love a video on androgentic hairloss treatment options (for both Men and Women). So many options like LLLT, Minoxidil, Ketaconazole, PRP as well as Finasteride. And so much fear mongering. My boyfriend is worried about taking finasteride but it seems safe from all the studies.
Yes!!!
I'm on fanestaride and the prescription shampoo that starts with a "K" and it's not helping its been months and the shedding stopped but 4 some reason it's shedding again while still being treated so I'm assuming it's stress. It can b a lot of things hair sheds too much about 3 to 6 months after what ur body may think of as a traumatic event like any kind of stress to the body or mind like child birth , stressful things if one's life , exercise believe it or not.... what ever stresses that may b in ur life may b causing it.. I'm in the same boat as u.. but also ur age and generics play a key factor aswell.. I also lost about 60% of my hair too started like 3 yrs ago.. so I was put on Propecia but it didn't grow any hair back and now it's shedding again so it's time to see a dermatologist.. if u have dandruff of any kind like me n ur scratching alot ur hair may fall out in the places that's affected.. my hair still is growing fast it's always been long but thinner then ever..
Please do more videos on hair!!! This would be amazing from a dermatologist, there is a lack of hair care content from professionals on social media.
Yess more hair videos!
What about hair textures ? Does it really matter which texture you have and the general scientific knowledge about hair?
Hey derm . Hope you are doing good!?. Excited to watch this video 😊
This is my favorite video, and I hope there will be more on this topic. My situation is constant hair shedding from taking Letrozole. I appreciate you, dear Dr. Sam!
It’s so great to have an actual dermatologist speaking on issues normally addressed by “beauty gurus” who gather their information mostly from the internet where others like them write their opinions that are often not grounded in science. And then poor consumers, in search of cure for their skin and hair issues, end up wasting so much money grabbing all the lates products recommended by their go-to beauty guru (who probably got their video sponsored by the brand they recommended). Anyway, all of that is to say: thank you for doing this work. I love it that you always underscore that everyone’s skin and hair is different and requires “trial and error” approach to find the right products/routines.
Oof Finally. An actual professional and not another blogger. Thanks, you're just what I've been looking for.
very nice! very helpful!
Thanks for a great video 😍
Great video!
Can you do a video on lash extensions and lash perms? Love your channel!
I would really love a video about topical vs. oral minoxidil. Thank you 🙏🏼
Superbly explained
I’d love a video on whether drugstore vs. high end haircare makes a difference and why based on ingredients!
I’d love a nail video!! My nails are thin and have pits and have never figured out why
You’re so knowledgeable and smart 🥺🤩
Would love to have a video on recommended practices/treatments for a healthy scalp?
Great info. Thank you!
Very informative. Thank you.
Best hair video on RUclips, hands down
Yep! Definitely have learnt something new! ❤
As a redhead, I knew that fact about us! My mane has always been on the fine side but I've never wanted to change the color. As for blondes, that makes sense; my aunt was a natural blonde and I remember her hair being as thick as rope 💖
Your hair is to die for !!!! 😘🥰😍
Thanks for the video! I’d love to hear more about how to care for type 4 (kinky/curly) hair in its natural state and chemically relaxed state.
Thank you so much dra. Sam ❤️ very informative vlog! More hair vlogs to come like hair care routine especially for long hairs or products to avoid for a healthy hair
More hair care facts!!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I realized I had many misconceptions about hair 😅 now I'll know better!
I'd love it if you could cover body hair and shaving in an another video! 😊
Thank you so much for this video, I can’t believe how much false information is out there. Have learnt a lot thanks to you!☺️
Love your videos!
Please talk about menopause and hair loss. Does taking collagen, vitamins help?
Damn the content of your video and information per videos is so detailed and easy to understand that I can't get enough of it... I am lucky to find your channel...keep making videos like this...Tysm ❤ 😍 💖
Thanks for sharing, I would love to hear more about hair loss due to PCOS and what to do if you can't take oral contraceptives as a treatment
Excellent content and delivery. I would love a video on types of alopecia and treatment, especially home care. 👍🏾😁🇹🇹
I didn't know derms do hair and nails as well actually, that's good to know. My mum suffers with hair loss, so will share your video with her
This lady is brilliant very informative I learnt so much thank you, very interesting.
I wish every person would watch this so this was't so much misinformation. ay yi yi
Thank you Dr. Sam Ellis as always.
Great video,so informative. Would like to know your thought on those small scalp brushes that have become so popular. Are they good or just a gimmick. Thank you and have a great day 😃
Finally someone is speaking the truth about hair/hair facts. I cringe when a hair dresser says the more you cut your hair the faster it will grow, WRONG!! I don’t understand why women in general are lied to about hair, Grrr.
Thank you for putting this video out there.
Yes it’s such a big lie
OMG thank you for this video!! I have been lied to about so many of these lol
Love watching your videos!! I would love to know more on how to make my hair stronger. I have very fine hair.
Thank you so much about for doing this video! Could you talk more about what you meant with a gentle hair care when you’re not using heat? Is that just letting it air dry?
Yes ,make more videos like this .❣️
Thank you for this!! I requested for this topic to be covered. What do you think of using Rogaine in 30s as prevention?
Are there any hair care products you can recommend?
Thank you so much for this video! would really like you to mention facts about curly hair as well...
Would love some helpful tips on dealing with scalp psoriasis, the difference between scalp psoriasis and dandruff, and anything preventative that can be done about it between hair washes
Wow this is super helpful in clearing up myths. Please do a follow-up on thinning hair and what's been proven to work. Also minoxidil has side effects and I read it can cause itching and worsen dandruff after prolonged use. While it worked for me, I am noticing that it makes my scalp itch so looking for alternatives. Just ordered nanoxidil to see if it provides same benefit while giving my scalp a rest from minoxidil.
More information on thinning hair and some balding spots…what to do to help increase volume and hair growth
My goodness, all this time I have been rinsing my hair with cold water. No more suffering.
That was great thank you
Thanks for sharing the interesting facts of how much hair is normal to lose. Do you have any recommendations on how to count/determine if one is losing too much?
Ahhhh Hair Facts….loving this❣️❤️
love this video please make a follow up. I would love to know if sulfate free shampoos are really worth it? how do you care for your blonde hair ? and should heat protectant sprays leave in conditioners be used. thank you
Great information- thanks! Id love to know your thoughts on dry shampoo 😊
So informative. Dr. Ellis what are your thoughts on Nutrafol or hair growth supplements? Thank you in advance! Allison
