  • Hi Folks! I just tested Beretta's new straight-pull BRX1 rifle, and it's impressive. Accurate, smooth-functioning, ergonomic, and best of all it's truly ambidextrous. You can switch the bolt and ejection from right-hand to left-handed in less than one minute--and I show how in this video. ENJOY!

As a lefty who has never been willing to buy a left handed rifle this is really appealing.

4:02 I lucked out in 2023, Scheels was selling off all their Norma Bondstrike in 30-06 for $1 a round. I got 200rds of it. Figured it’ll either be a good bullet to hunt with, or I can shoot it all and reload all that high quality Norma Brass.

Norma made ammo for Weatherby for years before they started making their own and Norma brass is one of the best for the price 🙌

Great review. Groupings are killer. Here in the UK the BRX1’s are usually all black, but liking the green/black for the US market.

I have one in 300win. It’s fabulous, of course you can’t compare the quality with the r8 but for the price… I would rather buy 3 brx then one r8.
I have now about 650-660 rounds down the barrel and never had an issue.
Winchester brass is trash in my rifle, it doesn’t work. 😅
Its hard to eject after the shot. But that issue is only with Winchester brass.

Excellent overview of one sweet runner of a rifle. As a left handed shooter this and the Savage Impulse Big Game have me intrigued. Sadly the Beretta doesn’t come in the cartridges that I am most interested in, that being the the 300 WSM, 7 mm PRC or 280 AI, but it does come in 300 Win Mag which is in my Top 5 options for a western backcountry rifle and cartridge

    • @BackcountryHuntingPodcast
      @BackcountryHuntingPodcast  5 месяцев назад +1

I'm with you there... Euro rifles are often YEARS behind America in adopting new cartridges. Hopefully at least the 7mm PRC will eventually be available, but for now as you point out the .300 WM is a terrific option.

@@BackcountryHuntingPodcast yes they most certainly are YEARS behind the curve in adopting newer popular cartridges. Evidence by even the popular manufacturer of Tikka. Sadly they don’t offer a left handed 300 WSM with a muzzle brake just the SS T3X Lite, so before Shot Show they were running a rebate on their rifles and I was going to go with either the 300 WM or 7 REM Mag in their Roughtech Wideland model in left hand. But I waited to see if Tikka would bring a 7 mm PRC to market since they offer 6.5 PRC but they didn’t and I missed out on the opportunity for a rebate. Plus I saw that Bergara has the new B14 Sierra Wilderness in left hand available in 7 mm PRC and 300 WM. I have been waiting for those to become available for purchase in the states and even though it’s Q2 they are STILL NOT available for purchase before the fall season. 😔

@@BackcountryHuntingPodcastwe usually don’t have the desire for new cartridges in hunting rifles here in Europe.
we have plenty of good cartridges and we are very conservative about stuff like that when it comes to hunting 😂
      for example that prc stuff.
I know a lot ppl which are hunting with me but there is only one shooting a 300prc.
It doesn’t give us any advantage for hunting, we don’t shoot long distances here. For me is 400 m the max, everything else is unethical for me. For example where i live is 200m the max distance you are allowed to hunt. So there is nothing a 7prc can do better then everything we have in Europe. Out to 200 you don’t need that high bc, marketing hype shit from hornady 😂

When you support the hand guard with your off hand on bipods, you minutely lighten the front end and allow it to move. Let the bipod to its thing and don’t be afraid to lean into it.

A suppressor. LOL. If you're determined to go with a muzzle brake, a company called APA (American Precision Arms) makes the most effective brakes available.

Can you think of anything about switching to LH that could possibly effect the accuracy or change the POI?

I just looked at one of these last week. I don’t know that it’s for me but an interesting design. I am curious, could a person set it up with the bolt on your dominant side but have it eject on the other side so you could catch brass with your support hand? That would be sweet for handloaders.
