didn't read much of the comments so forgive me if someone already pointed this out... Guys, pro audio and video, a BEST PRACTICE is to use BALANCED cables always..RCA is not professional level audio because they are UNBALANCED cables. Use TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) 1/4" cables and 1/8" cables. RCA is consumer level audio/video. You will get a lot better audio quality by staying away from RCA cables.
Thank you for this tutorial, you made this very easy and simple. Most people complicated this thing more than what it had to be. Thank you for simplicity within 4 in ahalf minutes. I have the same mixer and cords and will try this
mix minus is important, set that to max negative on the line in from the phone so they don't hear themselves, normally the red toggle. Great basic vid, cheers.
Awesome explanation my brother! Very plain display of the setup! You actually assisted me to get my system set up here, and it seems to be working just fine! Continue to do what you do, we all need you! All the very best!
Please do a little research on OMTP vs. CTIA and then a new video on the subject. This should fix the issue for those who say they still have to speak into their phone mic for the caller to hear them. Thanks for this video. It is very informative.
I'm pretty sure you should hook up the output from the mixer in the AUX SEND, otherwise, the caller will hear himself when the call takes place. If you hook it up as you suggest (in the output or control room), the listener will hear himself back.
Was thinking the same, on this Xynex 802 you need to plug the return line from mixer to the pnone into the fx send, then you can turn down the fx knob on channel of the line coming into the mixer from the phone so they don't hear their own voice when caller is talking. Just make sure fx knob is turned up on channels you want caller to hear.
So this sounds good. I ordered one of those I Rig things but if this works I’ll send it back. I just wanna have love callers on Podcast and not sound like shit.

Simon Gray I’m about to purchase a similar mixer soon. I just needed some clarification. Let me know if I’m correct, or if I need to make changes. 1. Connect splitter to cell phone 2. Connect 3.5mm to 1/4in cord from cell phone microphone jack to the FX Send 3. Connect another 3.5mm to 1/4in cord from channel of my choice to the cell phone headphonejack 4. Make sure FX of the channel used for the phone calls is muted to avoid feedback

The guy gave you a simple hook up, mainly for AUDIO out of phone, say for RUclips audio, to your mixer. WHAT DOESN"T WORK is most new cell phone have AUTO VOLUME/LEVELING and it can't detect an external mic so it keeps the INTERNAL phone mic "ON"...thus eliminating the input from the mixer. This is where the difficult "mix minus" is needed.......but your phone MUST recognize a non-internal mic or it will always stay on.

still a great config...but I have an issue. After a while I hear clicks, tik, tik, tik, tik, and then the recording continues, it is ruining the recording. I have everything rock n rollin however my caller on hears me through the phone mic sitting in front of me and not my xlr mic plugged into ch 1...have have same mixer and chords as you. Any idea?
The only thing they forgot to tell you is how to MIX MINUS the phone speaker (input) to the phone microphone (output to phone). You can literally remove the phone input (speaker) out of the loop going back to the output (microphone) to the phone. You take the AUX control for the strip (channel) going back to the phone and SET THE AUX VOLUME TO ZERO. This removes their voice from the signal going out to the phone's microphone connection. The person controlling the board and plugged in to their headset (or main output) feed can still hear the caller, the caller can be heard on the output of the board (to the radio transmitter, internet radio station encoder, or the recording device), but the caller cannot hear themselves.

wouldnt this create a feedback loop - you or the listener will be able to hear themselves when they talk.
It would, which is why this person doesn't know what they're talking about.

+Don Pontious I have the same cords he has shown in this vid - 1 RCA, 1 phone splitter, 1 1/4 to 3.5mm. I have it set up exactly how he has it. The RCA in the output of the mixer going into the red end of the splitter, the 1/4 to 3.5mm going from Channel 3/4 to the green end of the splitter. Which cord(s) need to go to the AUX to complete the mix minus, please? Thank you for the help!
Don Pontious could you please (for me, an armature) explain this a little simpler? Many thanks
Will this work for streaming on Facebook?

hello, I can't seem to record my caller. I can hear my voice and see the audactiy recording me, but not my caller. I followed the set up on how to set up to take a live call, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am using the Behringer 802, I have my mic plugged into the mic channel, I have my phone plugged in to the L/R channel 3/4 and I have the other cable that goes to my computer plugged into the 4th L/R channel 5/6 and last I have my head phones plugged into the mixer where it says PHONES. What am I doing wrong. Are there certain buttons I need to press. Is there something I need to set up on my computer, Please advise. Thank you in advance

good job
An I about to do this with Foucsrite Scarlett Solo interface I seen to be having trouble finding videos that deal with this I'm new to podcasting but this is the closest to taking phone calls while doing a live streaming show on RUclips.
If you have a email I could email and ask questions
