As a NICU mom, NICU nurses who are nice, empathetic and respectful but also give you hope and comfort are god’s gift to the world. Unsung heroes for sure.
rainie is such a fantastic facilitator of sorts on the podcast- she asks amazing follow up questions and keeps the podcast moving so well. and all her anecdotes add so much to the show! literally give this girl all the success

i SO feel Maggie on the first dance thing. We didn’t (and don’t) know how to dance and I hated the first dance thing because it was so awkward. At my wedding I had the DJ announce at 30 seconds of the song “the bride and groom would like for all of our guests to join them for their first dance” and made sure the bridal party was in on it so we didn’t have to be in the spotlight for too long. It was perfect
Maggie is soooo stylish! I could not stop staring at her clothes, I would love to see how she puts together her outfits ❤

Thanks for this comment! Getting married in 87 days. On the surface we’re an odd pairing, but we fit together perfectly. I cannot imagine reciting “traditional” vows when pledging the rest of my life to this man. Anxiety be damned!

I was a nicu baby from January to September the year I was born. So thankful for those nurses.
I also have a little girl and she was born by c section. I remember feeling like it was just rummaging around in my stomach area... That was almost 5 years ago. Xx loved this episode of the pod ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I filmed my sisters twin c section and (as a 19 year old) said it was the most metal thing I’d ever witnessed. My sister was so out of it the whole time she said her placenta was a beautiful baby when the doctor showed it to her 😂 I love telling my nieces how I saw them taken out by their ankles 😂😂❤
I have a friend/coworker who married his wife in his 20s and realized years later that they actually had met as kids at a carnival when they were like 6 in a whole other state

Maggie! I hated people looking at us dancing lol. if I had a redo I would ask the DJ to call on the oldest couple then work the years backwards like 60+ years, 50 years etc then you guys last. it's a cute way to celebrate love and marriage and to keep the eyes away from you

Maggie!! I went to that same island for my bachelorette on nov 19th. It was SOOOOO much fun!!
I did a full spit take with coffee in my car while driving when Becky said, "open cooter." Coffee is everywhere- in my hair, on the door, on the steering wheel, on my shirt!😂😂😂
Just to clarify on legal stuff (law student here) : Becky’s right that there are different standards of persuasion in trials, meaning the standard the prosecution or plaintiff need to meet to convince the jury. In criminal cases, the prosecution has to prove the defendant’s guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.” In civil cases, there are a few standards of persuasion depending on the claims in the case, but the most common is “by preponderance of the evidence,” meaning it’s more likely than not the defendant is liable. Also, civil cases aren’t about proving guilt/innocence but about proving liability/non-liability. Huge difference.

My husband and I went to the same high school. We didn't know each other then, nor did we know each other existed. Which I think is wild because we had a lot of friends in common. We found out years after graduation when we met.
Ugh, as a tarot reader it kind of breaks my heart whenever I hear about readings like this 😭 I know they're fun for some people, but predictive readings that assume people's personal context are often so normative (babies! boss! soulmate!) and make folks think that's what tarot is about 😞Tarot's a great tool, but it's not about predicting the future, it's about helping the querent (person you're reading for) tap into their own inner knowing, considering new perspectives, notice their own reactions to the cards, etc. Yes, part of it is connecting with bigger energies outside of the logical mind, and that's an important thing to acknowledge in this hyperlogical, cult of science (read: white, capitalist, colonizing) culture, but you can work with the cards whether you believe mystical forces are at work or not. I think folks like Becky would probably be much less dismissive of tarot if we didn't keep repeating this tired old idea that it's about whether something "works" or not, like a parlor trick!
haha im similar about how there CAN be so many events before a wedding but I did a barchlorette party but DID NOT see any reason in a bridal shower or engagement party

Maggy! Regarding the OR. The first surgery that bothered me was a foot?! I think the similarities between our bad experiences is that its a recognizable body part whereas with organs, etc, the recognizable body parts around the surgical site are draped. It takes the personal aspect out of it.

I had the robot surgery! 🤖 Without the robot I would have had my whole chest cut open but instead I just have 4 little scars up my side. Such a weird concept though!
I’ve also had a robot surgery! It was for my lung and I only have two scars whereas I can’t even imagine what they would’ve needed to do without robot assistance

Rainie stating that 60% of us marry someone we met before we were 16. I met my spouse on Tinder. Turns out when I was like 6 or 7, my dad took our family on holiday to Lake Muskoka, Ontario Canada (we're from the States, he's Canadian) and the cottage we rented was a few doors down from where my spouse's family has a cottage! So, we probably went swimming or canoed right past his family's cottage when I was a child! Life is WEIRD and cool!

When my love and I get around to it, the guest list is minimal. Our moms, his three siblings and their partners, my two siblings and their partners, and collectively three kids (as of rn). 17 ppl including us. He wants a beach wedding, I want to elope, so we compromised.

I witnessed my baby sister give birth and I swore I would NEVER have kids. Then I met my husband and now I have 2. I was terrified for the first one and I barely made it to the hospital with the 2nd baby. First one I got 2 epidurals, then 2nd one didn't give me enough time to get an epidural. I still don't know how I did it without meds.

As much as I respect and hope for Maggie’s and Zach’s wedding to be as private as they wish, I would like to express how much I hope and care to hear your vows to each other. I am most excited to hear Zack’s but I think that it would be such a beautiful insight into your relationship. However, we are obligated to hear them. Still, I really really want to hear! But, respect if you choose not to share :)
So genuine question to everyone: is the bachelorette party set up by the maid of honor? Or does the bride do it?
I was recently asked to be maid of honor and I’ve been told that I’m supposed to set up the bachelorette with no input from the bride because that’s tradition. But I think that’s kinda bass ackwards…? 🥴
I do think its tradition, but I'd ask the bride what she expects from you in this role. And probably other bridesmaids can help you out
I was under the impression that you are supposed to plan it, but with input from the other bridesmaids. Also at least a general understanding of what they bride wants. You're not gonna take a traditional Christian bride to a strip club lol.
I think it depends on the bride/bridal party! That is a pretty traditional way of doing it where the MOH plans everything but I think it’s starting to go away from that. I would just ask the bride what her expectations are that way if she wants to help or do it all herself she can or can give you ideas. Personally I plan on doing everything for myself and my bridal party because the idea of anyone else planning it/spending money besides on themselves makes me feel guilty so if that’s a concern for you too I would definitely bring it up sooner rather than later in case you get stuck with paying more than you want or have!
I will say tho it also depends on the size of the bachelorette party. If the bride just wants to go dancing and get dinner I think that’s very reasonable for you to plan but if she wants a whole weekend that might be tough. It’s also unrealistic for one person to plan a whole weekend without any help from the bride or other bridesmaids
Okay thank you all! I just found it both overwhelming and unfair to not talk with the bride of at least a general outline of what she wants. This girl is doing med school and I don’t have the time or energy to do everything 😂
