    People keep putting me off because of my age, I’m 34 and starting a BA psychology degree, I have been a SEN disability Teacher for 5 years and spent a 9 years in disability community support. I’m currently volunteering with the Salvation Army who run support groups. My goal is to further the independence of people with disabilities, it’s a niche field. The developmental fascinates me.
    I know it’s a long slog and huge dedication, I just can’t let life slip by without going for it.
    Its 3 years dedication, and I’m hoping my career in teaching and disability pays off for hours spent practicing my chosen field and free voluntary hours alongside my degree.
    Advice welcomed 🙏🏼

      You can do it, its your journey, people always judge, hate, say don't do this or that! recognize is not really about you is about them, their fear, their limitation, if you want to lead a happy, fulfilling, adventurous life you better listen to your inner voice & not the people around you, or the mind (subconscious) you got this, follow though your dream, & desire you will go far (its never late unless you say so, you are the only thinker in your universe, choose wisely/ you become stronger and stronger the more others say something negative see for what it is just an opinion not fact just opinions! Do I choose to get in me or choose to cheer myself on instead? U decide. Best of luck to you my friend, you are doing wonderful, Keep it up

    Can someone answer this please
    Can a psychologist be an introvert?

    • @momochan4424
      @momochan4424 5 лет назад +156

      Nikkie M yes they can, as introverts are more listeners than talkers, which would give the patient more room to talk without being interrupted. As a introvert, you think a lot more and observe because you tend to stick to yourself when in groups, so you’d be able to read people more because of your observation. I’m a psychology major(one more semester to go before going to grad school) and introvert, but I can see myself becoming a psychologist because of my over analyzing(honestly) self lol I stick to myself a lot and just listen to others and pick up on certain things and draw conclusions in my head as to why a person did something or what could have caused them to do it :). This is just a personal opinion and something that I’ve thought about over the years, which has made me feel more confident in pursuing the career!

      @Mrs. Ender Mage And you want to be a clinical psychologist. Perhaps then you should learn to rationalize before making such quick judgement. You'll meet far worse than me, and I am a very gentle soul with simply a witty sense of humor, a willingness to laugh at myself and teach others to laugh at themselves.
      See, it is a joke, you laugh it off for a few good seconds and move on with your life. So I gladly accept the moniker of immaturity to not pass up such a golden chance to offer the world laughter. You're welcome. And if you don't find it funny, that is your problem, not mine.

    Please tell me what is wrong with myself and my mind?
    Desperate! How to do? Until 3 years ago my house was always spring cleaned, my husband died about two and a half years ago, since then I can not organise my home anymore, I start to clean it and it feels to me that my house will never be clean as it did before. I feel it is always dirty, now I start to do something and I have to leave it, I just can not do it anymore.
    I only maintain the minimum, but I want my house to shine again from top to the bottom.
    Why I always did it and can not anymore, I am depressed since my husband died two and a halve years ago, and my father about 10 months ago.
    I start to think if maybe I do not want to go on
    I hate to see my house like that, not organized, anymore. I used to do my house from top to botton every single week. I can not afford to pay for help as I lost now my work too.
    Worse at all, when I am at my work I do absolutely everything, I love to work, but as soon as I arrive home and open my door. I do not want to do nothing, not even cooking my meals, as I went 9 months only eating sandwiches with, coffie, nuts, salads, tuna and fruit juice, I did not wanted to eat cooked food.
    I live in a family that we can "eat from the floor", my house now is a mess, I hate it? Wht can I not do nothing when I come home? Even if I clean something, always feels to me filth!

    So I’m in early college high school student meaning after high school I’ll have two years of college (an associates degree) so I’ll basically be starting off my undergrad as a junior. How would you recommend I obtain experience such as internships, since I will be fresh out of high school?

      @itsbreasy6634  4 года назад

      Zoe, thanks for your question. Being fresh out of high school is not a negative, in fact, taking the initiative to complete an early college program will be impressive to employers. We recommend talking to your college career counselor. If they are doing their job properly, they should be well connected with companies who need interns and be able to help you get in the door. At this stage, any leadership experience you've had in clubs, in class, or at work should be hi-lighted in your resume and applications. Good luck :)

    I notice that most clinically trained phycologists end up giving advice that doesn’t really require 8-10 years of training to offer.. Also, they seem to very rarely practice what they preach. Most seem tired. Very tired. Words are one thing. Embodying that energy is another.

      Its like saying a physician doesn't need 12 years of training to know the symptoms to diagnose people. Its just a very small part of what they do. And psychologists are tired because there is a severe shortage of them and most are overworked
