im currently 17 and from India. i wish to be a psychologist and help people live a little easier too, but im also sorta introverted so those first assessments sometimes sound a bit daunting to me, having to make someone feel comfortable with you when you know nothing about them. but this video cleared up a lot of my doubts and i feel much better about doing this in the future. its inspiring and informative. you were so articulate and empathetic, i really feel at ease now and cant wait to learn more and be able to help people one day. thank you so much.
Heyy also from india and I wish to be a psychologist. Just wanted to say all the best❤❤❤

It’s rlly helpful to get a sense of how in general a first psychology session looks like not only for those who wanna be a psychologist in the future but also for those who’re probably struggling w their lives but still pondering whether to reach out to a therapist as this might reduce their nervousness.

Really enjoyed this video. I also find cognitive behavioral therapy helpful as well as psychodynamic , exposing yourself to those uncomfortable situations rather than avoiding. Thanks for sharing

Thabks for making this. Im a phycotherapist and its reallt helpful to see the difference
I wouldnt shard my hypothesis so overtly, especially on early sessions. I focus more on thr relationship and empathy. I also dont have so much connection with doctor/medication
Thanks again❤
Oh that's so interesting, I have some friends who also preferred the psychotherapy route and it's something I definitely want to try as a client!
very helpful thank you
I'm currently still a high-school student but as soon as I graduate I want to study psychology become a clinical psyolgist advice
Im supposed to go to a psychologist soon so im really scared of what its gonna be like. This helped me!
I am binge-watching your videos, really interesting and helpful!!! I'm an undergraduate psychology student myself and thinking to take this path as well. However, I have a question: what topics you would suggest to focus on, and what did you find unnecessary? Sometimes I feel that some material is not so useful and question myself whether it is worth to spend hours studying. Thank you a lot in advance!!
Totally! To be honest the ones they make you do as the core subjects are probably the important ones, but in terms of clinical skills you learn all of that in masters. In undergrad I would strongly recommend choosing electives (e.g. cognitive psych, social psych, personality psych) based on what interests you!
@@thepsychdiaries thanks!!
Amazing video .! Mam can you guided me how should I becomes psychologist .... As well as what procedure I should follow toh di some things better in clinical psychology....
Hi mam I am from India and I am going to become a psychologist
I am a Psychology Major in Philippines and this video inspire me to work hard to reach my dream job. The process may be longer but it will be worth it. I am interested about the University in Australia.
Can we work as a psychologist while doing pg psychology
I am in senior high school and I want to be a psychologist but I feel anxious because of the thought I might not be able to get a job and disappoint my parents.
Thanks for the subtitle..I'm from kerala
you look professional in this outfit
Just the video I was looking for! Thank you 🙏🏼
How do you diagnose depression?
How do you diagnose anxiety?
Hi! It's hard to do so without a proper clinical interview- however we go off something called "DSM-5" which is the diagnostic manual :)
@@thepsychdiaries thanks for the answer! If somebody is showing at least five of the symptoms including the first two for at least two weeks, is that enough for a diagnosis? Or are there more tests to do?
@@maayan0990 typically we cant just go off the criteria since we need to rule out any other cause and determine the impact on functioning- hence why no psychologist can diagnose without a clinical interview :)
@@thepsychdiaries all right, thanks 😊🙏🏼
Hi Roanna,
I am thinking of career change and to become a clinical psychologist. Your contents are really helping me to see what it is like to become a psychologist.
Thanks for your content
How to know 'what to expect from my psychologist?' and how to know 'if i am having 'unrealistic expectations from my psychologist'
The eating chips at the beginning 😂
Wowww. Made me want to migrate in Australia
What happens if the client does not consent to you taking notes? Do you refer them to another psychologist?
I've never had someone not consent! They're kept quite secure and usually just a reminder for myself so I know where to pick up next session :)
@@thepsychdiaries In a hypothetical scenario, let's say you are having your first session with a new client who is extremely protective of their personal information, and anxious of the potential ways it could be used. If this fictional client did not consent to you taking notes, what would you do?
Hii. Im interested to know what university you attended for degree, master and phd related to psychology/specific psychology field ?
Heya! Thanks so much for tuning in, oh yes I have a video on psychology pathways (uni couses/ Australian requirements/ years of study etc)! :)
I reckon that more and more people see psychologists nowadays because real friendships and relationships are becoming ever more rare! There is an increasing trend of 'friends' who just want to hear good stuff and have fun and for you to listen to their problems not the other way around (utilitarian materialistic relationships- capitalist mindset?). Once you start sharing your thoughts and feelings something always comes up, an excuse, that cuts the conversation short! The most silly thing is that they think this is not noticeable. Why not tell your friend how you feel and what you think on certain issues? Cliché but sharing is indeed caring!
Can u do a video with a teenager as the patient
This was so helpful, thank you for this. Do you know what your myer briggs 16 personality type is? :)
INFJ! :))
If only I have a psychologist like you. Mine seems like they just want to be done with it and get their paychecks.
What will you do if a person’s mental health just keeps getting worse, what would you do to help him/her recover?💕
That's a normal part of the therapy and we would continue adapting treatment!
How long did it take you to get where your at now a psychologist
Six years of study! 3 years undergrad, 1 year honours and 2 years masters :)
@@thepsychdiaries do you have financial issues with this job choice. And while working on getting it what did you do as jobs.
Can i work as a psychologist while doing pg psychology
You will during placement- but not for money during post-grad :)
Please tell do psychologists wear white coat?
Nope! We just wear normal office clothes :)
@@thepsychdiaries but I want to wear white coat 😪💜
I didnt know it was possible to be a clinical psychologist without a phd of a psyD
Im looking at being one but i am not keen on taking the phd or psyd route any advice / suggestions?
Sorry i know this is a stupid question but must a psychologist room be white? I just had to ask.
Not at all! No it doesn't have to be- and this room is actually green on another wall so up to the clinic director to paint it whatever they want!
she's chewing gums
