    Just so you know, I call you the Goddess :-) when I recommend your channel (which is frequently). I was an indifferent, surface-clean type of gal for years, and even when I realized a clean home reduced my anxiety, I had tons of expensive, single-purpose chemicals in my house. My daughter was even worse than me. You have literally changed our lives. No more fights about who is going to clean; no more hours spent scrubbing because I went a month without washing floors. No more earth-polluting chemicals - different microfiber cloths, baking soda, BKF and Sal Suds are all I need. THANK you from the bottom of this reformed messy-house gal's heart.
    Just this morning I submitted an "asked a housekeeper" question about using Sal Suds on vinyl, and I just found my answer below. So - ignore my question!

      When we bought the home we live in it hadn't been built yet, so we got to decide what type of everything went in from flooring, paint, railings, backsplashes, cupboards, etc. I'd been cleaning houses professionally for at least 20 years at the time and it was fascinating how many high end luxury options we passed on because they were "too high maintenance" for me and I didn't want the hassle of cleaning them. LOL.

      Yes, I’ve been wanting advice on furniture that is the quickest to clean and dust also. And I would love to hear Angela’s input on linoleum, carpet, tile, etc. I would never get tile with decorative dips because they are dirt holders. Also my shower inclosure has a decorative weave pattern which requires individual dip cleaning. Never again.

      Girl, I don't dust mop everyday 🤣 😂 😆 that's absurd. Once a week will suffice just fine. I mop every other week with vinegar water or 3 drops of dawn and water for a deep clean once a month. You don't need to mop lmao 🤣 😂 😆 who has time for that! Look, I have vinyl flooring that's 25yrs old lol. I moved into this house 4 yea ago. I highly doubt the previous owners mopped everyday. Just mop every other week. And dust mop weekly. That's it. Piece of cake. Lol. The dust mop I use is from norwex. Best ever. The mop I use I bought from Amazon for $30 but any microfiber mop will do. Walmart has one for 20.

    As someone very experienced w LVP its by far the superior material when you factor in all things ie cost, install time, durability and maintenance. Microfiber clothes of any sort are great for cleaning. And all you folks in the comments that think you have to clean the floor 3 times a day its just what she suggests which is misleading obviously many people thinking LVP is bad. A good LVP is about as durable as anything out there. Just make sure you get a quality product w 12mil wear layer or better and 5cm thickness or better

      @Half&Half of a Half I spent some time checking pricing on it and looking at videos for how to install, also how to remove. One video, the fellow talked about removing it from another house. He saved a ton of money and it looked great in his house. It seems easy to deal with. I see it in a lot of flips. That the old floor doesn't need to be removed and it's fast to put in makes sense. It's about the cost of carpeting - so I guess a smart choice for an update for a flip or putting a home for sale.

    I have seven nice glass tables from the 1960s that I inherited from my parents. After a violent car accident, I wasn’t able to clean my house for a couple of years.
    I hired a maid to clean every other week. She always wore her diamond ring when cleaning and only wore gloves to clean the bathrooms.
    After a while, I started noticing little scratches on the glass. When I watched her clean the glass, indeed, her ring was scratching the glass! I asked her to not wear her rings while cleaning the glass or to wear thick enough gloves to protect the glass.
    If I was home when she came, she obliged by removing her rings, but when I wasn’t there, others saw her cleaning the glass wearing her rings every time. Her careless actions decreased the value of these tables substantially. Unfortunately, after several more scratches to these 50+ year old antiques, and several more requests for her to take extra care with the tables, I eventually had to find a new maid service.
    Do you know of any way for me to repair these scratches? Some are not very deep/noticeable at a glance, but others are quite noticeable. As suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    P.S. In the accident I mentioned, I suffered a number of injuries including a traumatic brain injury, which caused memory loss/amnesia. As such, when I was finally well enough to clean my own house, I couldn’t remember how to do much of anything. After several months of frustration and fear of doing things the wrong way or the hard way, I found your wonderful channel that has been helping me ever since! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

      Thanks also for finding my channel and for taking the time to spend a few minutes of your day here with me. I appreciate you joining me.
      As for the scratches in the table, I'm sorry the house cleaner was careless and didn't pay attention to your antique glass tables. That is an unfortunate situation all the way around. That said, an orbital buffer with a soft pad would probably remove the scratches. That is the same tool they use for buffing scratches off vehicles. I'd check with an auto detailer in your area - they would have the equipment, and the knowledge and the experience to be able to do a job like this for you - and they will be bonded and insured. Keep me posted and let me know how it goes. 👍

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Год назад +3

      There could be a few different things that might be causing your Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) floor to look streaky and show footprints. Here are a few things you might try to address the issue:
      Make sure you're using the right cleaning solution: Different types of flooring require different cleaning solutions, and using the wrong one can cause streaks or damage to the surface. For LVP, it's generally recommended to use a cleaner specifically designed for vinyl floors.
      * Dry the floor thoroughly after cleaning: If the floor is not dried properly after cleaning, the excess moisture can leave streaks or cause the floor to appear cloudy. Make sure to use a clean, dry mop or towel to thoroughly dry the floor after cleaning.
      * Use a microfiber mop: Microfiber mops can be more effective at removing dirt and grime from LVP floors, as they can pick up more debris than traditional cotton mops.
      * Avoid using too much cleaning solution: Using too much cleaning solution can leave behind a residue that can cause streaks on the floor. It's generally recommended to use only a small amount of cleaner and dilute it with water as needed.

    Omg. How do you get anything done besides cleaning? Multiple sweeps and mops per day. 😱
    May I ask: what floors, counters, backsplash material, shower material etc do you have. I don't want to be a housekeeper, I'm here for the life lessons ND to figure out how to keep things at my house.
    I am replacing floors, and bc of the easy installation, was considering lvp. But I need a more bomb proof option for the living on it part.

      Hi Dick, I'm the wrong person to ask about this because I've "skipped" a lot of the home decorations just so I don't have to clean them. Few of my walls have pictures or wall art, there are no vines or fake grapes adorning the tops of my kitchen cabinets, my windows have blinds but no drapes, and the fancy glass backsplash that was supposed to go in the kitchen I swapped with the builder for 6-inch ceramic tile (which hides splashes better than glass). I can't go into a house (my own included) without asking the question in my head "How long does it take to clean that? How often does it need cleaning? And, what is the most efficient way to clean it?) 😂😱😰

    What is your opinion on using dawn powerwash free and clear to clean LVP?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Год назад +1

      I haven't tried this, but here's my thought. Using Dawn Powerwash Free and Clear to clean Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) can be a suitable option. Dawn Powerwash is a popular dish soap known for its degreasing capabilities and gentle formula. When diluted properly, it can effectively remove dirt, grime, and light stains from LVP surfaces. However, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and dilution instructions to ensure the soap is used in the correct concentration. Additionally, it's advisable to test the product on a small, inconspicuous area of the LVP first to check for any adverse reactions or discoloration. Remember to use a soft mop or cloth when cleaning LVP to avoid scratching or damaging the surface. While Dawn Powerwash can be a useful tool for routine LVP cleaning, for more stubborn stains or heavy-duty cleaning, it may be necessary to use specialized LVP cleaners recommended by the flooring manufacturer. Hope this helps.

    Hey Angela, I did quite a few rounds of swiffer dry pads but do you recommend I invest in a dry dust mop? Still facing lots of construction debris!

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Год назад +2

      Construction debris is a beast of a different sort - until you remove all the dust that settles from the new build or the renovations - you will have lots of dust. A wet/dry vac may serve you better in the process. Vacmaster (paid link amzn.to/41faHlX) is a great little wet/dry vac that you will use for years to come for similar projects, the car, garage etc.

      With motor grease you will need a degreaser. If you are cleaning the floors you will however be liable for anything you use on the floor. Since it is a new floor, contact the manufacturer and find out what they recommend for their product. Then have the company you clean for sign a waiver saying if you use the product recommended by the manufacturer on the floors you will not be held responsible for any residue or film left behind.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +3

      Construction dust is in a league by itself. It keeps coming back. Part of it has to do with the density of the dust and the other part is other fabrics, carpeting, and vents the dust has found it's way into. When the air conditioning or heat kicks on it can dislodge some of the dust that has settled and it goes swishing around the room again. Construction dust on average takes between 9 to 12 cleans to fully remove.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +2

      Excellent question. In a perfect world you wouldn't use steam on LVP. Steam on LVP or Hardwood is a last resort to cleaning up things like spilled or ground in food, spots that won't come up with regular mopping, pet accidents, puke, stuff like that. Just using your Bissell as a dry mop or a damp mop is perfect though and will create multiple uses for your steamer.

      @AskAngelaBrown  Год назад +1

      Cleaning SPC vinyl flooring is easy and straightforward. First, remove any loose dirt or debris by sweeping or vacuuming. Next, use a damp mop or cloth with warm water and mild detergent to clean the surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that may scratch or damage the floor. Use a gentle cleaner recommended by the flooring manufacturer for tough stains or marks. Never expose SPC vinyl flooring to excess moisture or standing water as it can cause discoloration and damage. After cleaning, dry the surface thoroughly. Regular cleaning and maintenance can extend the lifespan of SPC vinyl flooring while keeping it looking its best.

    Sorry I’m going to have to disagree (for the first time) with you here. My husband installs floors (including lvt) for a living. I’ve had LVT floors in my house for about 3 years. No need to dust mop everyday (unless you have multiple kids or something). I vacuum them about twice a week with a vacuum that has a gentle beater bar (no super intense vacuum brush). A vacuum that’s safe for hardwood is safe for LVT. Then wet mop of course.

    We have this type of flooring. I (broom) sweep everyday because we have no entry seperating the living area etc. 😔 So yes for those homes with no entry/foyer/mudroom etc, it's every day. Luckily we have a small home so it doesn't take long. It also surprises me how many people out there use various floor cleaners not designed for LVP & then complain about sticky, warped flooring. 🤦‍♀️
    My question, is dust mop more efficient than a traditional (broom) sweep?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад

      +Mrs B both work. A dust mop is my preference due to ease of use. Also a lightweight vacuum that won’t damage the floors is easier yet because it sucks up everything as you go.

      Dust mop, maybe your whole home doesn't need it every day - but it's possible that the high traffic areas do. Picking up crumbs, pet hair and other debris will keep it from being tracked or blown all over the home.

    • @AskAngelaBrown

      The key with cleaning either is to not leave any standing water on the floor and to avoid using heat as in a plugged in steam mop. Heat can cause the seams to bubble and warp.

    Diluted Dawn dishwashing liquid to mop the LVP? That would leave a film if not rinsed off really well. You should never use any product on these floors that leave a residue or need to be rinsed.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +3

      Hi Lillian, you are correct. If you are using enough dish soap that the floor needs to be rinsed, you've used too much soap. One drop in your mop bucket or charging station should be sufficient.
