- In November 2011, with the announcement of the Canon C300 Mark 1, I immediately fell in love with that camera. But destiny had other plans for me and so I made a little video about my 10 year long journey of me, trying to get my own Canon C300 Mark I.

You ready made me fall in love with the C300. It’s my first camera and am building it to my test as I only got the body.

I still have 2 of them, what a gem. I’ve had 2 new C200 which I sold after a few years. I could never let the C300 go infact I traded them in and changed my mind 2 years ago and I’m back using them full time again

Yes! What an amazing camera that we can now find used for SO cheap. Astonished at how the camera makers continue to design these incomplete & castrated boxcams with more and MORE specs but less character or cinematic soul. It's a practical and reliable workhouse too. Amen brother.

This is hilarious, thank you! I have a mark 2 I was about to sell but I've decided to keep it because I'm nowhere near pushing its capabilities. I wanted a camera to travel with so I could continue to practise composition and lighting set ups on the road (I'm a director not a camera operator) and was going to go for an FX30 until I watched a few RUclips videos like this which made me realise I was becoming a Gear Head instead of a creative. I bought a 1DXii for travelling and will take my time to try some real creativity with the beautiful and honest C300. The way you narrate your love affair is captivating, honest and funny. Well done!

I relate more to this video than any other Canon video I have seen, the smell and touch of your first time owning one of these beauties is simply incredible. The comment you made on the look of the 1st line up of sensors, really hit how it feels, the honestly did have a special look. I currently have a C500 n a Red dragon... But there is just something about the canon I cant let go of. There is a magic from the early 2010s that some cameras still look so beautiful to this day. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

Meine Canon 1DC hat auch einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen. Ich kann die ganzen Sony Skintones nicht mehr sehen ... leider kaufen viele Fremdhersteller inzwischen ihre Sensoren dort ein. Auch die neue Blackmagic ist dahingehend enttäuschend. Die "Mojo"- Wachablösung lässt also weiterhin noch auf sich warten 😂
An impressive love story)) I am very familiar with your feelings)) Like you, I adore this Canon line, especially the C300 and C100 mk2. I still don't have any of them, but I absolutely love them. And I believe in the day when we will be together... ))
I also like the C300 mk2, but the rest of the updates in the Cinema EOS line really look ugly. Of course, it would be wise to take into account the technical specifications of the cinema camera first of all, but for me personally, the visual aesthetics of the equipment is no less important in the choice.

By the way, didn't gray routine (1080p, 4:2:2) destroy your idyll or are your feelings for your С300 still as warm?))

Oh no, that 4k sensor and that special internal processing leads to one of the best HD images I have ever come by. Still love it and for our Indie Features, which are mostly still mastered in 2k and if needed, the c300 scales up to 4k beautifully, it‘s more than enough. And for me operating it, the usability and ergonomics are yet unmatched for my personal needs. Yeah, I guess, the love is still as strong as when I first held it in my hands.🙂

That promo video for the mk 2 was terrible! It’s so odd they released that! Also it’s crazy how orices change over time. 20k euros in 2011, now you get this in the uk for well below £1000
Woah I was looking for this Camera and saw you just posted your fresh video.. Can you pls share if I can do live streaming using this? I know it has that HDMI out but I am not sure it has software support for steaming. I just checked that even for some DSLR models, Canon has a software to use as Webcam for streaming but C300 is not listed on that software as a supported model.
Wondering if I can use it as a live streaming cam as I thought it must have support as I saw people use this as interview camera !!
Sorry, I don't know that. I don't use the camera for live streaming and therefore haven't looked into that.

Hey, I am considering buying it. Sorry for a silly question: can you shoot handheld with it? How bad is the shaking when filming pans or walking? Cheers to you and congrats:) this might be my first camera ever, although I might get a used one…
How nice that this is probably going to be your first camera!😍 yeah, getting a new one in 2020 was already a challenge, make sure to get one with the Autofocus Upgrade already integrated, that‘s a very important thing and a useful tool! Yeah, the camera has great ergonomics and with lens and battery on it, not light, but not really heavy, for me, it‘s a joy to operate it handheld! No micro jitters, great reduced rolling shutter and the smoothness of the panning and tilting results depend on your skills, the camera is perfectly equipped to compliment your talent. I recommend getting the Canon EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS lens. It‘s like the perfect lens for the C300 and it is image stabilized, so that will help you too for getting smoother handheld shots. Best, Stefan
On my way to securing a C300 for 450 Euros includ batteries and memory cards. Definetely should pull the the trigger I guess?
Is there any way of setting the slowmo function on a shortcut button or sth like that? :)

@@loommovies Yeah but actually more videos would be amazing. I hesitate between a 1DC and a C300 mark i… Not easy to make a choice. I think I will go with the 1DC (already have another 1DC= for dialogue scenes would be perfect!; I also have a C100 mark i).

What’s a good lens for the c300?
Zoom Lens EF-S 17 - 55 f2.8 IS and the EF 35 f2.0 IS Prime lens are my favorites.
