How do crape myrtles do over the winter? I’m in CT - 6B. I’m afraid to get one because when I drive around town I never see any and I assume they’ll die over the winter. Encore azaleas are another heartbreaker around here.

Hi Will! Two yrs ago we had quite a freeze & everyone lost all the above ground growth on the Cape Myrtles. They all had to start over. It was disapointing to lose so much height. My Encore's froze that yr too & I never replaced them. I am about an hr from zone 7. But, My zone 7's struggle each yr. So, I try & stay in the zone 6b mind set. You could try one CMyrtle in a warm, wind protected corner that gets A LOT of sun. See what happens. Its worth a try.

Looks fantastic Andrea!! What are you going to put in the spots that you took from? I’m having great results with “blue my mind” evolvulus hybrid!! It loves the heat and full sun. Cheers Todd
