This was super helpful. Thank you. As a Baltimorean fairly new here in Texas, I did not know what to do with my gorgeous crepe myrtles, but this was a quick, easy to digest primer that I needed. Thank you.

So happy to help. Welcome to Texas....sorry it's so hot! Ha! if you are local, we have a class coming up called, "Welcome to Texas Gardening" that could be helpful for you to learn a little more about the climate and the plants that do well here. If interested, you can visit our event page on www.rainbowgardens.biz. Oh, and fall WILL be coming. Keep cool!

Here is a link to it, but it's also on our website. www.rainbowgardens.biz/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Crape-Myrtle-Varieties1.pdf-.pdf
Sorry I couldn't seem to give you a direct link, but you can copy ad paste this. We carry even more varieties than on this sheet (needs to be updated). Come by and see if you are local! We'd love to have you visit.

My crape myrtle is extremely messy. It constantly sheds its white flowers on my mulch and yard. I’m considering cutting it down. Any advice on how to stop the shedding?

You can put it up for "adoption". I will be more than glad to adopt it. I am raising 5 on my yard, four 15 yr olds and a 7 day old Muskogee. This story is similar to wanting children but not wanting to spend time raising and cleaning after them. One should never had them (plants or kids). No hard feelings!

Nothing much you can do to prevent the shedding. Maybe we're weird, but we like the showering of blooms. creates a little magical flower carpet.
