As an Australian, I can confirm that the Sunshine Coast really is the place we go to relax - along with Cairns/Port Douglas. If you're planning to visit Australia - you cannot afford to miss the Sunshine Coast and in particular, Noosa. Enjoy our great country.

It is a regional city spread along the coast but with some high rise development at Maroochydore. My picks are Coolum and Noosa, but Alex Headlands, Mooloolaba and Caloundra are all good. Worth seeing.

Jan Liekmann no that’s not true for Sunshine Coast. You can swim all year round in this area. It’s quite a bit further north that you can’t swim in summer months cuz of the stingers, but they have stinger nets & sometimes offshore is safer e.g. on Great Barrier Reef. Crocs are also further north (not Sunshine Coast), and are there year round.
