My husband and I had honeymooned in the Cook Islands in July 2019. We are from the USA and the Cook Islands are a bit unknown to most Americans. But we wanted to go to a place that was a hidden gem. We were not disappointed. We stayed in Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Both islands were truly paradise on earth. The most beautiful islands we’ve ever seen with some of the friendliest people we’ve met and we are a well travelled couple. We can’t wait to go back!
Right on, I'm also an American who's spent a lot of time in the Cook Islands and besides the physical beauty, I always loved its comfy, warm, affectionate ambience throughout its society. That's why I've been there several times over the years - I've always felt so well-taken-care-of as a visitor in these islands.
@@keenanketsdever590 From Los Angeles it’s a 10 hour flight to Rarotonga. To get to Aitutaki you’ll need to fly into Rarotonga and then take a flight from Rarotonga to Aitutaki, this flight is about an hour.
wow! that must be so interesting living there! and sooo pretty, I am actually really jealous:o once, I wanna go there! Is there a cheap Place to sleep, which you could recommend? greetings from Germany🇩🇪😊
alini mausi hi Thanks for the comment wish i could help you with the cheap hotel to stay im currently living overseas haven't been back for a long time...
Pfff...I am very jealous :))). I live in Romania, Europe, Balkans. Curent temperature: -6°C, we have an ugly see, ugly beach and a VERY ugly vegetation. How is your life over there, u lucky guy??
+PerfGuyKrish It's a complicated situation where the Cook Islands are still a country and are self-governing, but they still use the NZ dollar, fall under NZ protection and NZ speaks on behalf of them in the UN. It's kind of like a HK - China situation but less opposed by the Cook Islands population... mostly because we're a chill bunch of people I guess haha. (same applies for Niue and Tokelau)
I first went to the Cook islands in 95 and I thought it was Paradise then. I have not found a better place and so happy to be going back there in a week :-)
Have been there 5 times the most beautiful place we have ever been to. The people are very shy but once you have there attention they have the most beautiful smile you could ever see . This place is heaven on earth. Scuba diving perfect Cristal clear water Picific divers great place
We flew from Auckland to Rarotonga so good to get a break from city life and relax on the beach. The people that live there are very friendly and hospitable. Love to go back again one day!
I visited the Cook Islands in late September 2022 for my birthday and I stayed out there for 12 nights and flew back home in early October 2022. I love both Rarotonga and Aitutaki. I did go on the Captain Tama’s Lagoon Cruizes a couple of days before I flew back home and snorkelled during that cruise with everyone else. I went hiking up to the Needle mountain or Te Rua Manga the week before that with a group through Pa’s Cross Island Hike where Bruce Pa’s nephew was the guide for the group. I visited Aitutaki for the day twice while I was out in Rarotonga and when I was visiting Aitutaki I was on the Vaka Cruise twice and snorkelled out in the beautiful ocean surrounding Aitutaki’s gorgeous motus and I snorkelled near the beach of One Foot Island. In Rarotonga I was staying in the Titikaveka area and I stayed in Makayla Palms for the first ten nights and then I stayed in the Little Polynesian Resort for the last two nights. I loved the local Cook Islanders and I even enjoyed meeting and chatting with all the other different tourists who were usually from New Zealand, Australia or even from the UK. I love going to the Cook Islands so much because it’s such a stunningly beautiful country with such warm and lovely local citizens. I can’t wait to go back there again. That trip was literally the best trip of my life so far and I had the best birthday I’ve ever had in my life while I was out there. I can die a happy woman now that I’ve been out to the Cook Islands I swear to you.
I've been to Raro several times (on their weekly flights between LAX and RAR). It's always been the most enjoyably perfect Pacific paradise - large enough to have a lot to see and do, yet small enough it's quick/easy to get around without a rental car (bus, bicycle, hitch-hiking, etc.). It's a peaceful island with a very comfortable energy vibe to it. It makes for a very nice trip.
@@ziurziur1ify Are you sure about that? And it wasn't a first-class seat you were looking up? Because in the several times I've flown from LAX to the Cook Islands, roundtrip airfare from the USA has been only around $800 US. I'm a budget traveler and I could never have afforded a Cook Islands trip if the airfare was the 10 thousand dollars you're telling me. There must be some kind of mistake.
I went to Rarotonga for 8 days and then stayed in Aitutaki for 3 days. It was absolutely beautiful there.. I would actually love to move there. I thought I would rewatch this video and see what I recognized and this seriously made me smile and think of my lovely trip ^^ Wish I could have stayed..
Got married there a a couple of years back. It's cool to the familiar sights, restaurant we got married in, the tour guides and entertainers we met etc. And I highly recommend the Matutu beer. Yes it's a real place, and it is pretty much like this clip shows it.
+catrashoo Don't know, haven't been married in Bora Bora ;) But costs of a basic wedding in Raro is pretty reasonable.. Depends how many guest and how fancy the venue. We had ours at Sails Restaurant on Muri beach. It in the video at 1:36
