Clara!! We picked up our goose from her in early spring. Shes incredibly thoughtful and grounded in the good work of restoration. Couldn’t recommend her work enough!
I think I may have just found the solution to my wanting to have birds in the city limits. Since you first got the quail, I started researching. No restrictions on game birds where I live.
I can not have game birds in my town but I hide them in a walk in dog kennel outfitted in hardware cloth and a shade canopy tucked in the corner alongside a shed. You totally can do it
Before we had to sell our 8 acres (but in a restricted development), we considered quail. We were going to do them out behind the garage because of no back or side neighbors. The birds are so quiet and grow out so fast. Now that we're in the suburbs (health issues, sigh), we're still considering it! Check out YTer Slightly Rednecked. And good luck! ~ Kir
great interview and a window into different style of farming on a scale that most people could consider as it's not HUGE! She seems to have great respect for her animals and I was impressed by her caressing the pigs... they seemed to enjoy it as well. :) Beautiful place and the birds were very pretty as well... Thanks for sharing this!
My friend had a half, pasture raised , pork spit roast for his birthday. It was the most amazing pork I've ever tried. Highly recommend it if you can find it.
Very nice farm....nice clean place to prepare them as well. Any premade shed could be outfitted for processing I would think. I don't know if it would be cheaper than a used camper but maybe easier to find. Thanks for sharing this Wild Way Farm visit. Have a Blessed day.
I'm here because Xanderhal watched you on a stream dreaming of starting his own little quail farm. Which coincides with my wife who just a few months ago began with two quail, to start our4 year old on a small project. They've just started laying and we have two eggs in an incubator! Liked and subscribed Also I love the hat
I never would have thought about plucking the quail. All I have experienced or seen has been skin them out. Claire (?) makes a good case for plucking, selling the feathers to Fly Fisherfolks is a good idea. I don't know any that don't have at least one fly tying rig.
that's awesome I just started raising quails in a large outdoor cage and they love it , even have one sitting on the eggs at the moment... love to see this situation rather then wire bottom cages .
I'm a beekeeper in Lawndale, nc. my son lives in haywood County. On my way up there sometime I'm gonna be looking for this farm. Thanks for sharing. I'll bring you some honey.
Very cool. First pasture quail i've ever seen. My quail produce the waste which feeds my black soldier fly larvae. I have to psyche myself up for the cull. It isn't pleasant. My hens have injured multiple roosters to the point where I had to kill them. Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Awesome setup for a small space! I love the Avion trailer for processing, I used my 30’ motor home as a mobile seafood shop. It was a great setup!
you should do a series of art on the homestead. a number of you tubers are very conscious of how things look or just adding artistic touches to their builds. fun to watch!
Back in my youth, my BB-GUN days, we would hunt quail. I remember it tasting quite good. These days I still see quail in the Asian stores, but it's in the form of very early birds (eggs)
Very educational! So glad you didn’t ruin your birds using the chicken plucker or moved them without boxing them 1st. So smart of you to visit an established farm.
Haha they do love to jump, don't they? We had button quail in the house & they used to bonk their heads on the top of the cage all the time. So we put them in a very long fish tank so that greatly reduced it bcz they could run, but still they should have had both length & height, which they did in summer in an outdoor cage we made. The babies they hatched were crazy tiny! 7 fit easily within the palm of my hand.
Clara is losing her farm. You can help out here bit.ly/3SAEtxy
wow, she's the best part of that farm and it's a really cool farm.
Motivated, kind , and intelligent. Congrats mom and dad on a great daughter.
Clara!! We picked up our goose from her in early spring. Shes incredibly thoughtful and grounded in the good work of restoration. Couldn’t recommend her work enough!
Not a homesteader - but found the discussion/tour very interesting - respect to Wild Way Farm for their care of the animals and full use of the birds.

My father in law raised this quails and bars around here bought his pickled eggs and they loved them and bought a lot!
Pickled quail eggs are great! We ferment them in a salt brine. They are a great snack when you need a boost of protein. Blessings

Great video! I've started raising quails for a full year now, and this is a good insight on what I can improve.

Great job! Fantastic so happy things worked out.
she is awesome and a great set up. you can tell she cares for the animals.
I love the quail tractors. How can I find blueprints or instructions on how to build the movable outdoor enclosures like she had? Amazing video!
I never would have thought about plucking the quail. All I have experienced or seen has been skin them out.

She's so cool. Easily one of the coolest people I've ever heard. Didn't expect that in a video on quail farming.
Very informative 👏 thank you. We are starting a sustainable homestead in NY and the content in this video was helpful.

Love this channel & wish Wild Way Farms had a RUclips channel to follow along as well.
Great interview.

A great model biz. Best of luck.
Used to live there. Miss the mountains.
Note: use parakeet grit for quail. 7 females to 1 male. Build a box inside quail tractor to lock them inside before I move the tractor.
'So cute' ..🤣 what a way to describe a plucker
I raised Coturnixs for years. Love them
