    Must be challenging living that way folks. I might be wrong, but from over here I see a couple nice folks taking a swing at parenthood while trying to convince the world of wilderness expertise. Except, iPods, computers and social networking bs has no place out there. The shock would most likely need medication, but if you got through it, it might just be the most beautiful thing to ever happen to you. You can do better, and I hope you will. You deserve better than this.
    I mean you absolutely no Ill will, or to upset you folks in any way, I’m just one of those guys that really enjoy watching the good stuff. So if it were to happen, and if you somehow make the trade, the smiles in your eyes will be legendary 😉👊

    Rain is always needed, but seriously a dry trail or camping is much better. Specially if its raining for days, every thing turns moldy. That's the time when it really sucks. Luckily ya'll have some sun light during the days.

    You seem to kind of allude to this at 6:30 in the video ... With the RTT and awning deployed, when there is persistent rain, even intermittently on and off, I guess you must be stuck in that one place, and can’t really move, until you get a few straight, uninterrupted hours of good sunlight, to fully dry out the RTT and awning, as you wouldn’t want to pack them away while damp, since that would cause mold problems. Your rainy days adventure make me think about this as I plan my build on my 4R.

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  4 года назад

      Packing down wet doesn't hurt the tent or cause mold unless you leave it that way for an extended time. (24+ hours) We've done it many times without issue.

    I bought that filter instead of the lifesaver jerrican and I regret it. The red valve leaks but that's not really the big reason. The filter mechanism has such terrible ergonomics. It is long with all these levers from the valves sticking off of it and the various points tubes attach. It would be so easy to break some part of it and because of the awkwardness not at all easy to pack and keep it damage free. The bag is also really heavy which is fine to handle but it would also be really easy to puncture the bag if you are not careful. I already had high quality jerricans so I thought I could save some money with this. But with it takes way more effort to pack this and keep it safe and use. Everything is so fragile feeling about it.

      With the awning out, it made it virtually impossible to move to the trees with how quick it hit. In the past we have pulled under trees or used blankets if it really gets bad and we have a way to dry them out.

      Youre not going to get gaillardia, but there could be chemicals in the rain. I never have never filtered rain water. If youre taking a shower, I use unfiltered water. You cant get sick by washing in it. the other thing, if its raining, its something that feels productive to do. For me, rainy days are hard on the trail, and I have to stay busy.
