My dad died on the 13 of July 2022 and have been trying to learn the song because I think of him when I listen to it. I use to play as a kid but I was never really good. When I moved my mom never got me anymore lessons and forgot everything. It is hard for me to catch some of the fingers and I don't really know the cords and get a little lost at times lol.

Oh my gosh!!! I just found your channel!!! As someone who grew up classically trained and has been dying to learn how to play songs by ear and learn chords this is THE BEST WAY for me.
I legit think I'm going to write down chords like you did and practice to memorize them like that written note for note. I can sight read fine, but we never learned chords and trying to memorize peoples' fingers for songs seems kinda ridiculous when I do know some music theory and how to read music. This is it girl!!! I am going to just write the notes for each key, practice, memorize, and learn them that way. I think that's the way I learn, even though it may sound goofy to some. It's the way it finally clicked for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Subscribed and liked! Will go thru all ur other videos now. Heheh. You made a difference for me. 🤗 merci x3
My story too! why did they not teach us chords? and why is playing by ear so difficult for someone who was taught classical music and reading music off sheets? why why why? my son plays be ear, this song will take him two minutes to listen to and then he will paly it. I've been at it since last Friday, tomorrow it will be a week. Safe to say, I can play it now.... :)

I have a pretty tight schedule, and I was able to learn this song but actually understanding the chords and inversions!!!
My keyboard is pretty simple, it's missing most of the base notes and has no sustain pedal, but I was still able to play it through and it did not sound bad. Again, thank you!!!

Hi Francesca, not too familiar with this song from Bruno mars. However, this is a great tutorial. It is very helpful to practice with. If i may mention, around 9:58 when you are explaining the B7 , would that be an implied B7 , since the D sharp is not being played? Great example to see the rocking of the chords. It’s great that you are thorough with the chords. Thank you for posting this tutorial. :))
