your name is Tyler. mine is . . . . Jabberwocky? (nothing implied) LOL
yet another excellent perspective video. 3 point perspective can really trip people up because they try to fit all three in a small space then see their block/box get distorted, I know this from experience. so great explanation and super duper example at the end, it gives me some SciFi ideas.
Thanks as always!
Great stuff! Railings on the catwalk but none around service elevator pit... not an OSHA approved workspace. The 3-point perspective looks very similar to the 2-point stuff you did before, would you say it's generally used for just more skewed camera angles in 2-point scenes?
LOL yep you're right about the railings! yeah, generally 3-point is more important as you look further up or down, because that angle/convergence becomes a lot more extreme. You could argue that 3-point is also a little more "realistic" because as soon as you tilt your view even a little bit, you start getting that taper. The vertical lines of 2-point are a bit of a cheat.
Honestly I personally tend to decide based on how lazy I am lol. If I'm doing a prop sort of looking slightly down, I'll do 3-point because it feels better. But often in digital I'll do 2-point so I can use shift for vertical lines, which speeds up the process, especially if I have to do a whole bunch of sketches.
And for full scenes I just do whatever I feel the shot needs.
