    The Community: Make it so Exterior Alarms doesn't work on basement doors and buff the shit Grandpa perks
    GUN: Okay, so we're gonna rework Grandpa and make it so perks only activate on certain levels
    The Community: What? No, we don't want that. Just do something about E.A and the shit perks. Also doing something about the grappling/rushing.
    GUN: Oh okay. So we're gonna double down on the Grandpa rework and buff all his perks including Exterior Alarms and do nothing about rushing/grappling!

      i kinda of made a theory why they refuse for Exterior Alarms not working on basement doors, basement doors are sliding doors and upstairs there are also sometimes sliding doors (Nancy House and SlaughterHouse) so what if all sliding doors have the same coding therefor if they make it so Exterior Alarms doesn't work on basement doors it also means it won't work on the sliding doors upstairs so maybe this why they refuse to make that change? no matter how many times we ask.

      @@PlayWithUsagi 100%. I bet some of the key code was written by a developer early on who's no longer with the team, and they literally don't have anyone skilled enough to rewrite the code, so they literally cannot change parts of the game no matter what.

      The exact same thing happened with close encounters.
      The community: Reduce the animation for victims who win the close encounter immediately.
      Gun: Okay, so we're adding a whole entire close encounter system and take away instant kills, but leave all grappling perks (Empowered, Choose Fight and Grappler) unchanged for months before we tweak them slightly.
      The community: We just wanted..... nevermind.

    About Grappling i have a disability that affects my dexterity in my hands.
    So grappling for me is impossible unless im a grapple build leland..
    Fact i cant keybind it to a new button which may help

    I think it's absolutely crazy That victim Mains state, that killer's losing a grapple is a "skill issue" when the devs literally made it so that they have the bigger advantage, with it contributing to strength, toughness, health and perks that they run. It's not a skill issue, It literally is just easier for victim mains because even with suffocating grip, The Killers can still lose a struggle, and it only got worse when they got rid of the insta-kill Mechanic.

    Alot of my matches people just ran out the basement and insta stabbed gramps even at level 0. I have a feeling this is going to become the norm. Also addressing the grappling meta by essentially forcing every family member to take a suffocating grip path to guarantee the team will have it isn't exactly a good solution. But devs these days suffer alot from the sunk-cost fallacy.

    Victims can't open basement doors in the first 90 sec of the game. Problem solved. I have a strong feeling the developers are afraid that they will lose too many (victim) players if they buff the family, because 70%? of the players play as victim. So yeah, if you have 10.000 players a day it's going to be 3.000. That's not good. So they will go on and please the victims. Good victim players just toy arround with the family and they see the family as a zero threat

    The close encounter minigame actually comes all the way from Clocktower for the SNES, right down to the minigame being more difficult the weaker you are (Clocktower only had a stamina system though).
    Why is this important? Clocktower understood that if everytime you're cornered you can just button mash your way out, you're not going to feel scared of the Scissorman at all. Winning a struggle only gives you some time to find a hiding place elsewhere. Haunting Ground, the spiritual successor to Clocktower, even made it so that when Fiona (the MC) is in a chase she will refuse to interact with certain objectives, even if she stunned the chaser momentarily, until she can find safety. Haunting Ground is in many ways almost like a single player TCM.
    Really wish TCM would look at games with similar formulas that came before it and take from them what made them good.

    Forget about grandpa, they need to do something about the victims rushing. The family experience is horrific, most of the time everyone’s heading for the gate before grandpa has even reached level 1.

    I actually think that the exterior alarms change from 5 To 10 is a debuff because now u have to wait 10 seconds for it to be useful u won't know sooner if someone has gone thru it or not cause it's just gonna be on

    the exterior alarms buff is insane when all anyone wanted was for it to only highlight the upstairs doors so that family can’t camp the basement doors waiting for you to come up

    button mashing in games is a cancer. I have issues with my hands and it only makes things worse. Like, the tendons in my hands don't glide right which causes inflammation, even had to have surgery on it a few years ago.

      I used to play this game in the cancer ward and I would never button mash because I didn't want to disturb my roommate; it's such a dumb mechanic.

      Idk if it would help, but you can mash without moving your fingers. If you tense your fore arm real hard, your hand will vibrate. This will tire your arm out quickly. Another tactic is to put the side of your thumb's fingernail against the button and rapidly slide your thumb off and on the button. Kinda like using a scratch off ticket.

      @@TheOnlyChoy in my honest opinion there are 2 changes i can see happening and 3 changes i think could deal with the current rush/grapplemania meta. 1 reverting the january close encounter change. 2 choose fight nerf. these i can see happening and would help deal with the grapplemania issue. another one to deal with grapples is either reduce piles by 70 percent(number can be changed) or reduce number of scraps per pile to 1. i think removing beginning of the match cutscenes for non leatherface family players ontop of either adding a 1 min extra timer before survs can get out of basement or survs no longer being able to get out of basement till gramps is fed to lvl 1 by family could curve the rush meta. these are just my ideas to help family.what do you think of them.

    Respect to Choy for keeping it real. I see so many content creators for TCM just talk only positively without looking at the bigger picture that the devs did this to themselves over a long period of time. Props to Choy for pointing it all out.

    Main root of the problem: Exterior Alarms...
    The solution? A whole entire mechanic that is heavily emphasized in TCM gameplay be changed into the most obsolete gameplay mechanic BUT buff the main root of the problem.
    GUN never directly finds the solutions to these problems it's always a tangent, complicated solution that doesn't even address the main root of the problem and instead it's a rippling effect where it creates more balancing issues. I never met a company so egocentric. It amazes me how incompetent and narcissistic they are.

    I just want them to make all the maps similar, cuz some maps have additional exits or ways out that make it impossible to win at times with solo queue. They just need to remove a couple doors and add a lock or 2, and I wouldn't have as many complaints as I do. And remove the perk trees, just let me run whatever.

    So yesterday i play as hitch at the mill,when game starts,victim rush,grandpa woke up as usual,and i just got out from car battery gate because hitch spawn in car battery,and i try ran to the front generator gate to set my trap because cook only add padlock for battery gate,and guess what?
    Less than 2 minutes Connie escape from battery exit,this is my first time on my 600 hours game in TCM history,that connie player deserves an oscar.

    I love grapple feature, i don't care if i lose or win as either of side.
    Love the intense moment of close encounters, risking my life or trying my best to win grapple for my allies to escape/get killed for both sides i play.
    And for totally 100% they need to do something with that Grapple mania situation, so i do support the issue to be fixed.

      I'm all for grapples, but I'll admit it's a low risk, high reward feature that doesn't take much skill inconsideration. The fact that stun timer is longer than the stun IMMUNITY for family is baffling. The only changes I would like to see to make it more strategic is adding damage increase to victims who are in a close encounter animation (~25% increase damage) from other family members, increase the stun immunity to like 25-30 seconds OR repeated close encounter stuns are less effective each time you win a close encounter against that particular family member. For example, after each stun the stun timer is decreased by 1-1.5 seconds, etc.
      OR the quickest solution is just reverting close encounter mechanic (Instant kill) and revert all close encounter nerfed perks (empowered, grappler, etc.) and just fix the animation of won close encounters.

    Grandpa's changes are definitely improvement, but not exactly the chances the games need to address the Rush Meta and Grapplemanina with Choose Fight and Agitatior as the solid perks to ensure the grandpa perks stay Invalidate the entire match.
    Choose Fight needs a nerf, Rushing In Basement should give Grandpa a free Level 1 if they make too much noise in the basement without opening a single door first. Family member spawn points should be centralized and not far away from the basement doors, as well as being able to spawn immediately before the Leatherface cutscene. It would make so much sense for Leatherface be the only only with the long cutscene of his, as he is the only that spawns in basement, and gives the other killers more time to collect Blood Buckets and set up traps and lock down the property, especially if they spawn close to the middle of the map.
    Perfect example... Cook and Johnny spawn in gas station generator side, and victims can straight up rush to battery side, when both families need to open 2-3 locked doors to rush to other side, while stuck for like 30 seconds watching the Leatherface animation.
    Maybe with all these buffs to killer, they can nerf Hitchhiker ability to trap Grandpa in case blood builds get ridiculous strong without agitator.

    Grandpa buffs are cool but by the time i get enough blood to get grandpa there, the victims are already tbagging at the exits lol grappling is still viable too. Survivors tend to be too strong in asymmetrical games, but no game is worse about that than TCM

    i strongly agree with your thoughts on grandpa going level 1 when victims wake up grandpa and having all 3 perks active at level 1 and leveling up with grandpa i honestly dont think anything else needs to change if these 2 changes are added except maybe making proficiency abit weaker baseline, ive always thought that nobody escapes hell locks with 50 prof should be how locks are normally and only take about 25-30 prof when i play survivor as that just feels like a good pace to unlock doors in my opinion from playing both sides.

      You can't tell someone that they can't play a game from when they were younger and all of a sudden they can't take it seriously or become serious with that game all bc they enjoyed it so much.
      I'm a gamer who plays whatever I want and become good at it who wants the games that I enjoy to succeed, not some punk who let's his life wastes away and compare if I'm old enough to even consider playing it again.

    I had a 22 minute match on Slaughterhouse once.
    And the reason it was that long was because i was playing with my friends using comms vs 4 victim stack/party on comms. Ana & Julie had choose fight and we had to deal with Connie & Danny too.
    We won because of *comms, callouts and camping objectives.*
    If was family solo q with 0 communication, the match would be over in 3 minutes.
    We did feed granpa and got him to lvl 5 to force Ana out of hiding.
    It was one of the sweaty matches i've had.

    Sounds like the root cause of the problems in TCM are the same as DBD; namely, there's a fundamental design flaw in asyms where one role's goal is to avoid the other; you end up with either objectives being rushed ridiculously fast, or stunlocks that waste a ridiculous amount of time, or mistake-erasing perks that remove all risk.
    I'm a long time gamer and developer, and I truly think the problem is so fundamental that you'd have to completely redesign the games from the ground up in order to eliminate it. Players are extremely good at optimizing their play, and in an asym, both sides objectives will be different in both difficulty and time it takes, to the point where it'll never really feel "fair" for everyone across all skill levels. Players can have different tools at their disposal (RTS, MOBAs, fighting games etc.) but their actual objectives should be comparable to eachother, or you just have complete mayhem.

      @ryanlutes9833 I definitely mostly agree with you, but I think the solution is very easy: make it so 'winning' is not the same as progression. It doesn't matter if you escape, how you unlock things should be through challenges, side objectives, things you go out of your way to do. So you can win lots if you like, but actual progression is tied to personal objectives, so even if you lose you can still progress

    Graple was never a problem in beta, the problem is the perk, weak victims like Julie Connie and Virginia had it already hard to win a Graple, as Ana and Leland will keep winning graples eatherway, 20 seconds before can graple again is crazy imagine try defend as a Connie or a Julie now... I think the best way to nerf chose fight would be make it 1/2/3 sec and combine it whit the perk that let you recover from the graple animation faster like 30%/40%/50% faster recover animation, victims would still having some time to get away but not enough to do objectives right infront of them and family wouldnt have to stand still that many seconds

      Grappling was never a problem in the beta because it was a high risk, moderate reward because instant kills existed. If another family member intervened, they would immediately get rid of that player from the game despite the variables. In order to make good effect of close encountering was knowing where each family member was located to reduce the chances of dying. However, it was insignificant to grapple most times because the animation was too long after the victim would win the close encounter. Which is why we all wanting the animation to be reduced to make close encountering more effective.
      That being said, GUN decided to do another unnecessary change like the grandpa system and create more problems down the road which is why close encountering has been more prevalent than chases OR being stealthy. Which that change brought a rippling effect of problems because you would see that later grappling perks like empowered, choose fight and grappler dominated the meta before they were ultimately changed or nerfed (excluding choose fight). These perks were never touched after the close encounter change which shifted the meta into this hot garbage that we see today. Combine that with nerfing stealth into oblivion created and reinforced this meta.
      In conclusion, GUN is just terrible at finding effective solutions to these problems and instead they're too prideful to admit to their mistakes that leads them on this tangent of more problems after releasing a new "solution".

    blood builds really only worked at the very release where sissy's melee was also bugged
    now its literally impossible and pointless, so can confirm as an ex sissy main, not possible anymore

    I'm a victim main and I hate this rush meta. It takes all the fun out of the game. Escaping in 2 minutes should not be possible. That's why I switched to family. Atleast playing family gives me a challenge.

    I really enjoyed this game but how gun is acting is very pathetic. Every time the fans give them criticism or feedback they get so upset about it, they are so passive aggressive to the fans for no reason.

    I don’t even care. The community will never be happy. You satisfy some and therefore satisfy none.
    I have fun with this game. I have over 1700 hours and this game has been the most fun I’ve had playing a video game in a long time.
    I play both family and victims on a rotation binges. Meaning I go a month or two of playing either side before I change it up.
    Have I ever wanted to throw a controller. Yes. But that’s every game that has a winning/ losing element. How ever, I remind myself that it’s just a game and it’s one that I enjoy from a small studio that produced a quality asymmetrical horror (especially when considered against major devs).
    If this game fails because of its community. I say well deserved. However I hope it doesn’t. I enjoy it and will continue to play until it no longer can be played.

    These changes are alright I guess? Main issue is just the rush meta. Can't wait for vic mains and "family mains" to complain about this buff though!

      pretty much useless changes that do nothing. the issue from very start of the game has always been that proficiency is busted stat. The fact that the dev are buffing proficiency is insulting. until proficiency stat is nerfed by like at least 50%, Grampa will never come into play beyond games where your already winning in 3vs1. how laughable is it that Leland can stun you, shoulder barge you and do the gate+battery in front of you. With their current balance, they could make grampa perk activate permanent at the start of the game at level 0 and family would still struggle to counter rush meta.

    I never play victim without friends because Family has been the stronger side for months now. With Hands being the most pay to win character in the game and Johnny being able to instakill nearly every victim, Family did not need to get buffed in any way.

      Idk man. Hard to beat Dannys relase, a character who had nearly as much toughness as Ana, as much proficency as Connie and a perk that gave him 100% better picking. Making him a budget Connie and an ability that could permenantly open exits for 3 minutes with little to no real demand. (Just half a bar was enough. And you got more knowledge and half the required amount from the objective). Gun will have one hell of a time beating that pay to win mess

      @Ghost5665 Danny was extremely broken upon release, I agree. But at this point, he's been nerfed to where if he tampers something it means he's been in the game long enough to do so, which can be prevented by patrolling and trapping. In my opinion, Hands traps should be like Cooks locks where they can't be reset once they're disabled and he should only be able to rip stall once a game.

We have to rush or if we get a good family set up, we’re stuck.bro said let all perks activate level 1. Victims won’t even be able to get out the basement if exterior alarms is level 1.       Found the "tribalistic" victim !!! I guess you didn't watch the video my guy. I'll admit victim is pretty brain dead right now, play leland, run high proficiency and equip choose fight. Close encounter family at gate, unlock gate, reset and repeat next gate. It's easier when all victims rush one side of the map. Had a 4 stack where two people stun family with choose fight and have high proficiency character preferably connie (efficient locksmith perk equipped) and just blast through each gate.

      I think you're judging off of casual gameplay. I've yet to see his dbd content, but I'd assume he doesn't go sweat balls. It's a nice change of pace though. There's far more try hard tcm content creators than chill ones.
