Very excellent teaching on a very basic but extremely important subject. I'm constantly amazed at the ability R.C. Sproul had to communicate so effectively with such a deep understanding of the Word of God.

The reason why John the Baptist asked Jesus why he came to be baptized with the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 1:4 & Luke 3: 3) was because John knew that Jesus was the sinless one needing no baptism of repentance. But Jesus told him to proceed for him to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:15). John felt Jesus the sinless Lamb of God should be the one baptizing him since he (John) was a sinner needing Christ's salvation. The intention is good and I cannot detect John wanting to instruct Jesus. In fact, John invited Jesus to instruct him on his reason why he wanted the baptism of John. Jesus in wanting to be baptized wanted to identify with sinners thereby submitting to God's plan of salvation.

Many churches avoid division due to major doctrinal difference because members who cannot accept the church ruling on the issue will join another church or establish a new church. The end result is the loss of funds from the members who leave the church and the remaining members will then feel the financial difficulties created by the division.
Thank you Mr Sproul a believer cannot be a sinner yes he sins but being called a sinner is one who lives in sin. God commands us to be holy for he is holy. So we cannot hold dear to heart a sin any sin we need to get rid of them by God's grace and by his grace continue to remove what is abhorrent recite and hurtful to others

The suffering that Jesus wanted was not the physical he received in human but that separation three days of separation from the father that is not abuse without children do something bad be sent him to his room that is not abuse that's discipline instead of disciplining us he sent Jesus to his room
Listening to Dr Sproul in recent years has been a joyously edifying experience for me. I am not at all fit to tie his shoelaces as I have seen him do for himself on an occasion. So it is with the utmost humility and regret that he is no longer with us, that I am seeking to rectify the difficulty he had had with certain issues like evil and its origin or with certain aspects of justification, etc...
The imputation of the righteousness of Christ is surely by the Sovereign work of God, Alone. Yet, not only righteousness, but perfection and holiness have also been imputed in our Spiritual regeneration. Unwittingly, the churches have been preaching, anecdotally and allegorically to the soul and the body, falsely believing that we, the people of God have been made righteous, perfect and holy in our Christian-professing souls and bodies. In fact, in pursuing our well-meaning and often church-sponsored earthly affections and ambitions, we were and are, in truth, walking by sight in our souls and bodies instead of by the faith of the Son of God.
That which is born of the Spirit is Spirit and that which is born of the flesh is flesh. The Spiritual renewal wrought for us at Calvary, in Jesus' death, burial, resurrection and ascension, was for the regeneration of the Zoe, not only in union with Jesus, but established with Him in heavenly places. This regenerated Spiritual being represents the former Spiritual wherewithal which was excommunicated by the original sin. By this restored Zoe and the nurturing and nourishing of the psuche/soul on the Rhema (Zoe-illumined) Word of God, the psuche/soul of the elect is thus transformed from conformity with the world to awareness of the will of God and in due course to the renewed mind of Christ...

Just a month before Jesus was born ,what were the people worshipping.

I desist to use the word doctrine.. review and test what one even has come to believe for long and always check against the written word of God. Doctrine is a comfortableness trap for those who would rather listen to others teach about God rather than invest time and effort to read the written word of God and find out if it is so. It makes others inadequate to question as these are work of scholars who spend/waste their lives pouring books written by others.
Not sure you understand the definition of the word doctrine. The Ten Commandments given in holy scripture are doctrine.
If Jesus did miracles by the Father working him, then why two natures? He kept his identity as the Logos but emptied himself of divine attributes. It was the Father working him, telling him what to say and showing him what to do. He was given the Holy Spirit without measure to do his works. Prove me wrong.

Haha 😄 Last night I reached out to some Muslims in the mall and they really didn't like me mentioning Jesus is God, even youth mocked me. I raised my hat not only for this man but for all those who lifted the name of Jesus Christ all their life's journey. None is perfect but Christ name must be glorified through our existence on earth (whether small or big devotion). I wish God gave me the same heart given to Paul and RC Sproul that all things are rubbish because of the surpassing greatness they found in Christ. 🙏 🤲
Jesus Christ the Son of God loves you. The Bible tells us how he was born from a virgin, died for your sins so you wouldn't go to Hell and he was raised from the dead after three days. He is coming very soon for those who believe in him and will take his Church to Heaven. Please prepare. You will go to either Heaven or Hell. You get to decide.
I believe in the Trinity, but the nature of Christ is not two natures, not really. I careful search in Scripture will reveal that when the Logos as made into a man, that identity of the Logos stayed the same. Therefore Jesus was always God. However, he did not do miracles by his own attributes of God, but by the Holy Spirit, the Father working all miracles he did. In fact, all he said and did was from the Father. So to see him was to see the Father. So he had left his miraculous attributes behind when he took on flesh, the kenosis. Yet he was always deity in his identity. The idea that he had two natures, one God and one man, is not supported by Scripture and is really Nestorian in nature. But look at what it says, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him" (Acts 10:38). You see his power was from the Holy Spirit, not his own attributes of deity. Amen? God bless.

Did not God find Abraham righteous? Simply, through an analytical approach. He could not have added Christ as Christ was not born .therefore, the sympathetic approach may be one approach but not exclusive in another itself.

Mylocater Romans 3:25 it says in Gods forbearance He passed over sins that were previously commited, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness! 3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
If anything, Abraham at some point in his life committed one of the most severe sins in the sight of the Lord ( Worship other gods).
@@tonydelva8777 You are misunderstanding the phrase "served other gods". This is not a reference to idolatry. It is a reference to submitting to other authorities who are often called gods in Bible times. Even Jesus referenced this in John 10:34 by referring to Psalm 82:6. There is also a passage about David worshiping other gods when he was in the land of the Philistines or somewhere else, but I could not locate that reference right now. "Worship" in the Bible is not defined as we use it today, as strictly religious. It means submission, whether to God almighty or to other authorities. Sadly, many apologists prey on the ignorant and use this to deceive people about the word "worship" as used in the Bible. The same goes for the word "god/s".
Jesus taught us the greatest commandment: "Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." Mark 12:29. God is one "HE". Also, consider: "To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him." Deut. 4:35. The one true God of Jesus is a HE, not an essence.
NO! Abraham's ancestors worshipped other so called Dieties (idols) and this is the main reason God told Abram to separate from his ancestors (tradition and superstition).
This is most obvious in the following two generations when they interact with their kinsmen who have continued to worship idols.
See Rachel's theft of the idol "god" from her father Laban who is Abram's paternal uncle. Laban is also thrice related to Abraham's family by marriage. [Genesis 31].
And yes, the biblical "gods" can and often does refer to worldly authorities (kings, judges etc) i.e. your Psalm ref.

Here's the issue theology! When ye ought know Yahudimology for it is written, the things the Gentiles sacrifice to, are devil's and not AllahAYnu! To the God of this world, and therefore worship devil's and idols. Yet it is Father YahUah weeks to also take a people from the Gentiles. A people who have called upon YahUah, yet not by name. And though the 7th trump be about to sound, the Gentiles thru all their seed and even now all the religions of this earth run by Gentiles of ever I'll and fleshly hue. Do sin against YahUah AllahAYnu, and ignore hymn halleluYah = praise YahUah!
Repent and turn back to YahUah AllahAYnu and his namesake, who came in YahUahs name, King YahuaSha MessiYah! For their, our NO synonyms SIN o nyms in heaven.
