@@eh5872 It's pretty crazy how long it has been, seen Waters in 2019, 3rd row center tickets, The sound was fantastic and the visuals where amazing too!
As a Pink Floyd AND BodyCount/Ice T fan, I genuinely cannot wrap my mind around the fact that he got both Gilmour and Waters to agree on this THEN get Gilmour to play along.
I kind of thought the same, but I was mainly amazed it was happening because it was such a strange crossover and combining of such different musical genres and styles. It would be like Megadeth announcing they were doing a song with Dolly Parton: I would be wondering if I was in the twilight zone! " OK,.... well, I never would have guessed in a million years there would be a musical collaboration with those two entities. WTF is that going to sound and look like?"
@@RobwLPOC Why not, I mean when BodyCount came to light, it was a nearly new concept to integrate hip hop with metal, barely done before with Anthrax/Public Enemy, and that band called Biohazard who really have a signature sound.
@Manu-Official I would say you could argue the Beastie Boys were metal and rap next together sort of as well, or at least Hard Rock and rap. Rap music and heavy metal were also both Counter Culture anti-authority genres so attitude wise they kind of make sense being mixed together. Both are generally seen by the mainstream public as angry music going against the system. Not to mention your point that you would never expect Waters and Gilmore to actually agree on anything want not to mention allow or participate in a collaboration of Pink Floyd's music with anybody, regardless of who it was. It's not just that I didn't see body count ever doing something with the guys from Pink Floyd, I didn't see anybody else doing it either (although theoretically possible) I never even remotely had the idea that someday for lack of a better way to put it "Headbangers and Hippies" could be on the same wavelength and make music together. That is for sure LOL. They are a definite Odd Couple music wise. Pink Floyd known sometimes as psychedelic Rock are representative of a very different cultural attitude than a heavy metal band like Body count which represent/have a more angry rather than laid-back attitude. The two sides didn't hate each other but they weren't sending each other Christmas cards either. Funny thing is I'm a big fan of Yngwie Malmsteen, Savatage (who basically became the Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and Leaves Eye's which all in their own way, mix heavy metal with symphony/classical music. Really, it seems that I should know that pretty much any genres of music could be mixed if done right no matter how different they may be perceived.

Let's be honest it's a stolen song. I have liked rap music in the past from the 90s but its all stolen music and acting like they made it. It's all stolen songs for beats
Ice T is an amazing person. I was at LAX several years ago waiting for my flight to east coast. He was chilling in the bar with his wife and these kids came to say hello and get an autograph. It’s past 10:00 pm and he was in he nicest person to these kids. Asking them where they were going and if it was their first flight. So cool. ❤
When I saw the song pop up in my feed I clicked on it without even knowing that they'd done the colab and imagine my surprise when I heard David playing right from the beginning. I love metal and never heard of Body Count until a month ago but now have Merciless in my physical collection.
Well their first album is a bit of a classic, if you're into metal highly recommendable,... songs as KKK-Bitch, Evil Dick for instance And then there's the 'Cop Killer' which caused enough controversy that it had to be removed. For which instead they recorded the song 'Freedom of Speech' over Jimi Hendrix' 'Foxy Lady' to replace 'Cop Killer'
Never in a million years would I have dreamed Ice and Gilmour would collab, It's nice to know two of my all-time favourite artists respect each other that much that they'll work together....
One of the most quotable guests ever! I could listen to T for hours, not to mention the music. Seal of approval from Gilmour and Rogers?!? Nobody else can get that.
Gilmour and Waters both loving the lyrics, and how those lyrics are complementary to the original song, and very much of the current times, even us old Floyd fans will be onboard. Listening to Ice-T speak, and he's still the same direct no-BS man that he was in interviews back when Cop Killer was getting banned from radio, and straight up, he could have had a completely separate career as a stand-up comic, he'd be the Black George Carlin, laying it down straight for everyone. Saw both Ice-T perform by himself and with Bodycount back in the '90's, they're still as tight as ever. Some musicians just keep getting better and better.
"David Gilmour and Roger Waters haven't agreed on anything in 20 years!" That's both true and pretty damn exact. The last big thing they agreed on was Live8, which was 20 years ago this coming summer.
I've seen them both live, twice each, but never together. I saw Pink Floyd in 94 and Roger in 01 and 22. Last month I saw Gilmour at Madison Square Garden. They were all incredible shows.
I love Ice T because he keeps it real no matter what. I've been a fan of his acting since New Jack City, and a fan of his music since There Goes the Neighborhood. He's evolved to an all time high in both genres.
Love Ice T! He’s awesome, and he reminds me of a grumpy cousin. But he’s the guy that knows well and better… at the table eating dinner with family. (Why always so angry chill and have some mashed potatoes” let’s chill and have some ham” 😂 he’s awesome. He’s doing his thing in teal, but he was always in there. He is one of the guys.
Listen I have been following Ice T way before body count. Early in his rap career. I am a huge metal fan. The only real black metal band I knew before count was Bad Brains and they are bomb. Ice T is a legendary rapper but probably recognize d more for his metal. Hats off T
@SamThredder How can I know that for sure? He used a term that has a specific meaning when he meant something else. He might not know what constitutes black metal and he thought Bodycount was black metal. It's much better to clarify what someone meant than to assume and potentially cause problems later.

It's honestly incredible that they were able to make that collab happen. The universe was in perfect alignment. That or the psychedelics finally caught up with David and Roger...in a good way.
