    Pork and Shrimp Shumai is easy to make at home. You may use either dumpling or wonton wrappers as I did in the recipe. They are full of flavors, and go well with a cup of tea. Enjoy Dim Sum at home!
    Ingredients:
    4 oz ground pork
    5 shrimp, finely chopped
    2 dried or fresh shiitake mushrooms, diced
    1/2 carrot, diced
    3 green onions, white part
    white pepper powder
    salt
    grated ginger
    sesame oil
    oyster sauce
    Shaoxing cooking wine (optional)

    I made Shumai on Monday! I miss going out for dim sum. I made it actually the same way you did, but I only had dumpling wrappers. I made 30. 15 to eat with family and I froze the other half.     Hi, Ling. Wow, looks so good, and not difficult at all. I have a question if you don't mind. What's wrong with the shitake mushroom stem? I notice just about everyone cuts it off and doesn't use it. Thanks for another great video.

    Siu Mai is so good, as is all Dim Sum.
    Love Chiwei Zhengpaigu (with the squash on the bottom), Har Gow, Fung Zao, Jian Dui, Gai Lan,
    Chaohou Fun Guo, No Mai Gai, Xiaolongbao, Cheong Fun, Dantat, Cha Siu Bao ... now I’m hungry!!
    My family loves Chinese cooking, especially Dim Sum. We learned how to order in Cantonese via cooks, waiters/waitresses at different restaurants in the International District in Seattle. Some I still have trouble pronouncing! 😊

      Pork shoulder is also called pork butt, inexpensive cut of meat. You can use any cut for this recipe, minced pork. Thank you 😊

      You can skip pork and add more shrimp, or substitute with chicken. Traditionally it’s made of pork 😊

      You could replace the pork with ground chicken and extra firm tofu for moisture, add more shiitake and oyster sauce for umami, and add some diced water chestnuts or daikon for some more veggies!

    I totally disagree with adding diced carrot to the _siu mai_ ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shumai#Cantonese_siumaai ) filling. I have been to many *authentic HK-Cantonese-style* dim sum restaurants in my life, and have never encountered carrot in the _siu mai_ filling.

    Miss dim sum and shu mai and the lazy susan and over-eating with family and friends and arguing to pay the bill. (ok i don't miss paying the bill!). This video already has ASMR included
