Are they serious??!!! I just got my cdl, and I would not want to be caught dead or alive on the road with one of the people there training with me! He could barely speak English. We all BRACED when it was his turn to drive (either because he didn't listen or couldn't understand the instructions). If anything, they should make it more challenging to stop idiots from getting on the road with heavy equipment!
same experience last year when i was in school my wife is from honduras so I know enough spanish to get around, I had to translate for him also told him he should really learn english if a gringo like me can learn his language he can learn ours
very well said. !!! These people have NO buisiness in a rig.......PERIOD.
The bottom line is more important than safe highways.
I've been trucking for 16 years, and this industry has completely gone to hell! It's time for me to get a new profession. This ain't worth it no more.
Agree 100%. Sooner rather than later. A state license that isn't worth the plastic it's printed on.
I don't blame you one bit Juan pretty soon the driver shortage is gonna get a lot worse than it already is
I have 36 years in, I'm tired of dodging idiots with a phone in their hand. I hope to retire by 2025. Oh, and in that 36 years, only 5 tickets and no accidents.
I been in the game 12 years and I'm planning my exit. It's no money in it.
But where I live there's no option..to commute 2 hrs a day back and forth to the city for a job that pays half what I make I'm stuck lol
How about a REAL english speaking and comprehension test. (without any interpreter or device)
It’s the Law. They just need to enforce it. WY is about the only state where I have even seen inspectors and troopers make an issue of the driver who speak/read no English. There is a reason all pilots (not just USA) must speak and read English. Like I said before, they care nothing about safety.
How about you are 100% right !! I really don’t know why this topic is so controversial! Speak and read and write English since that’s the native language I don’t know why we allow slack jaw bureaucrats run our industry! So dangerous.
@@bryenjayne2137 Thank you!!! I have seen so many drivers at shippers/receivers having to communicate through a translation app on their phone!! If I went to their country, I couldn't read road signs or anything if I didn't know the language!!!
In agreement with this 100%
This should be top comment…. The vast majority of my interactions over the last few months have been with people who can barely speak English.
Thank goodness that I've had my CDL for 30 years and have a spotless record. I wouldn't want to go through the anxiety of being terrified of missing one small step and then having to start all over again.
I felt that way when I took my test
I also drove for 30 years and retired a year and a half ago I'm glad I retired when I did that Trucking industry is nothing like it used to be
I'm 9 years behind you and semi-retired. No more OTR unless it's an OS load for big bucks.
If you can't pass the test then you can't have a CDL.
Right, they are passing them bitches out for free to the border jumpers, same as a lease to keep em stuck.
Please explain to me how drivers from south Florida who cannot speak OR READ English have CDL's
@curtisstewart3179 Biden's world I guess.
@@curtisstewart3179 Its not just Fl, its all over. How? Its a clear agenda to fill the seats and workforce with third world country drivers. This does 2 things, it keeps the rates low, and prevents any notion of unionizing. They are handing out to border jumpers CDL's and leases to keep em hooked in.
30 years ago I passed the general knowledge test, flunked the air brakes and hazmat tests... they (Florida) let me retake the two I failed... I passed air brakes but failed hazmat again... 3rd time the charm... I passed hazmat... no wrecks... no tickets since... either you can drive or ya can't....
Idiots rely on tests alone.
Beautiful dog….My condolences for your loss😢
Much love and many prayers for Baxter ❤
Hey bro, I know it maybe hard to belive, but that's my mommas doggie, thank you tons for shouting out Baxter boy, he lived a fun and exciting life. His favorite thing was to hang onto trees and play Frisbee. Thank you brotha, he's missed big time
❤
RIP Baxter 🙏
Big Prayers for such a beautiful dog!
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your best friend and co-driver Baxter. I am a disabled veteran and I drove semi's my previous service dog Teddy was my best friend, second only to my wife. Teddy was my co-driver and rode with me on the truck until doctors removed me from work status due to the effects of my Desert Storm injuries. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2016, and is waiting for me there with my other dogs, and my late wife. So I can fully understand and feel your pain, it is hard now but the pain will ease over time. Bless you driver.
Thank you. And thank you for your service. I value my freedom more than most. 🇺🇸
I have 3 with me. Big prayers going to him
Makes me grateful I passed my CDL test, was NOT easy. Had to use three takes to pass it, and I considered it a great personal achievement for me. Did it with a standard transmission, too.
Sorry about your dog. That is so tough. Your not alone. I had to put my lab down 2 days before last Christmas. I still tell her I love her even though she is not there. It will get better
Prayers for them both i have a special connection to dogs and now at 50 i have had dogs my whole life ❤ however i was a long haul driver running dry van and never took any of my 6 dogs with me i couldn't find it in my heart to put them threw what this career put me threw 💯
I have a 4 year old male, totally white, German Spitz. Your dog is beautiful!
I dont see an issue with making it harder. The problem is poor training!
Exactly
I though they did I heard now you gotta do the whole truck and trailer
Baxter was a blessing to his owner... I love my dog so much. Im sorry for your pain
RIP 4 legged child. I know I lost mine a 1 4 months ago a purbreed akc whight german shepard sir Duke whight knight.he was 11 yrs which he had cancer
Rip Baxter. He'll be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge sir. My buddy's gizmo and bandit are both waiting for me as well.
So sorry for your loss of Baxter 😢❤️
PRAYING
When I got my CDL, i have to ally dock and double clutch to pass my test in Fontana, CA. When i went in to renew my medical card, I watched a few testers and most are straight back and offset backing. I did see folks failing the air brake or pretrip inspection. Good ruling by her
Thank you. Old school drivers had to pass all 3 before getting CDL . I’m glad I did in February 2003.
Baxter will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge to walk with you as you enter the pearly gates of heaven . We pray for you that hole in your heart and soul be healed it will never as long as you are on this earth. It’s been 4 years we have another best friend for that 4 years and when I think about Buddy I choke up and get tears in my eyes. I miss him something terribly. God Bless you and Baxter
Thank you mutha trucker ❤
Sorry to hear about the loss of the puppy it can be a real soul killer RIP
Enjoy your vlog . Always interesting .I failed the road trip my first go . I paid for a few more classes and passed the second time . I was nervous . As for getting out of school and knowing what Your doing . Haha not even close . I got lucky and a Small commercial equine transporter hired me . We team drive which I think was priceless for the experience and coaching from the senior drivers. We don’t do any alley docks and not a lot of backing up , but do go off road lol . Anyway Seat time behind the wheel is it . I’ll say the skills you do learn in school ,for me anyway ,came back to me for a parallel park in a rest area on the LIE, Blindside to boot.
Thank you, Alex
Baxter was the best.
My seargent lab had lots of miles with me.!! I'm dog lover n I will pray for him n totally get it!! It's so hard to loose a puppy dog. !! I know I've out lived few. N each one dem I learned. N love the next one more n better. I feel so bad for him. God bless him n family n puppy. !! I will pray .
Prayers for baxter
Lost my mastif on xmas day my dude I was on my way home for hometime. He passed at 3am and made it home at 6am been a tough year. Brain tumors we didnt know about made him have 20 seizures. He went blind and had brain damage. My wife and the vet tried to keel him alive for me to say good by but he was in such pain and bad shape I had to say good by and make the decision on facetime. It was devastating because 24 hours prior he was fine and running around and playing like normal. He had just turned 9
Arkansas already lets you to restart from where you fail you don't have to restart unless you have to get a new testing pack
Yep, had to parallel park Alley dock double clutch pre-trip move the tandems hook up the trailer that's what I learned the new test they give you a pen and paper and hope the instructor makes it back to the DMV!
Massachusetts if you failed one part of the test you had to take the whole thing again
Big prayers
Absolutely 💯 Washington State already participates in the fail one retake all 3 in place works great
Failed my OTR test by stopping to reset to avoid stalling out because I lost the gear trying to shift into 4th before making a turn. Took the test on a Tuesday and retested Thursday of the same week.
Prayers to that driver i just had to put my beatiful pug down it brokre my and my wifes heart we lost our big girl but we had 2 dogs it is nice to have a dog in the truck its a very enjoyable thing.
The other day I was at the fuel island and seen this guy filling up. This man could barely walk, he had a walker and very obese; literally he would move his walker up then move one step forward then he couldn’t get open the door to the building; I had to help with the door. I’m thinking to myself “ how can this man medically disabled person get a medical clearance to drive a truck. ?
$$$$$ it's all about the dollars
Never see politicians at a truck stop or loading dock. They should sit down and watch the circus sometime
I'm in Massachusetts and we already do that I'm takin my test next week
No one is entitled to be a driver, if they can’t pass they can’t pass and need to find another career.
Three years ago I didn’t pass my parallel parking and had to do my whole pre trip testing and the other parts of the driving test all over again even though I passed. This was in Indiana
I passed my Pre trip, air leakage test, and my final road test in Virginia. Fail any stage of the final exam, you will have to start the test from the beginning.
What i never get is that some people take better care of their pets than their children.
I really don’t get this thing of treating a dog as human.
Love the music at the end 😊
Little Bobo Jittles sends hugs and condolences ❤
They should take the same approach to four wheelers as well.
I passed my Pre trip, air leakage test, and my final road test in Virginia. Fail any stage of the final exam, you will have to start the test from the beginning.
Massachusetts if you time out on a section but pass the section when you come back you just have to do the sections you didn't get too.
30 minutes per section a lot of applicants time out on the Air Brakes,in cab, and pre trip in the 30 minutes allowed. The skills and road you have enough time but with Massachusetts air brake test being more stringent it creates a failure point. You can one and done but some people plan on going back a second time to do the skills and road.
Here's the deal. It used to be that you could pass one section and fail a different. It worked back then. It wasn't considered unsafe then. What all the sudden makes it unsafe?
In 1990 in pa with class 3 license I failed road test but they had me do the rest ( off set alley and drop and hook) in 93 ( pa) for cdl i failed the skills part ( serpentine both front and backwards) retook the skills part only ( straight line and blindside dock )
In texas at the time when I got my cdl in 2015 I passed my written exams, but failed the road test because my front bumper went over the double yellow line on a button hook right turnstop sign.. I was pissed but whatever went back the next day only redid the road test portion and passed with flying colors idk if texas still does that,.if so then we been doing that for a while
That's how it is in West Virginia I got my CDL about 7 years ago and that's how it was
I been driving for 45 years Alex and I am still learning something, if someone thinks they have mastered it don’t ride with them!!!!
I'm happy for this, because my CDL that I did everything for my license to get stolen for someone to go to Miami and make a copy to run off my information, because there is a lot of people not taking time out to get schooling, when I did go to school, it's easy when you read and actionly driving you can pass the test.❤🎉
Years ago when I did road test, the state trooper was looking over a box of dirty magazines that were in the truck, basically it was 5 minutes and done. I guess I was 18 years old? That was 45 years ago, and I guess I'm lucky being owner operator, I'm just using a few agents and that's all. Sorry that driver lost his copilot, hope he can find another one, one day.
When I was an instructor, I refused to let anyone drive my truck until they stopped calling the drives the "front trailer tires" so no they shouldn't get to drive if they failed the pretrip.
Yes they should repeat it all!!
Alex I’m with you on that.safety is the key I think that they need to get hard because they are to many CDL people that they don’t know what they doing out there on the road.
In Toronto i had to pass them all in order
Alev back in the early 2000's when i was not only driving but i was training drivers to get their class B CDL with Passenger endorsement. I was living in Maryland at the time. If someone failed the test you paid $20 for another appointment and picked up where you left oft off. If you passed the pretrip but failed the skills course you repeated the skills and if you passed you took the road test. If you fail the on road test once again you paid $20 and took the road test without going back to square one. However if you failed the 3rd time you had to wait 6 months before you could take the test again and then you had to start from the pretrip.
If i didn't have a medical condition I would be back on the road.. BTW if there is a shotage of drivers or not i see on line advertisments for Class A drivers.
I came to hear your opinion on the changing CDL test and then you hit me with the road dog feelings from the get-go. 😭
This has been the case in Delaware since I got my CDL my tester failed me my first time for not having a tire pressure gauge to check air pressure during my pre-trip test but I passed everything else all I had to do was show up again with a tire pressure gauge and do my pre-trip again. This was 30 years ago though I do not know what they go by now?
Having to put my 12 yr road buddy down last fall i feel the pain. As far as the testing thing. Im kinda indifferent. I see how it would be more efficient and less time consuming, but if they fail they pre trip, they should not be allowed to proceed with the other parts of the test. I get the safety argument, but if you aced the pre trip why should you have to retake it, cause when blind siding you ran over to many cones or pulled forward to many times. What does that have to do with pre trip???
Driving a 10 speed should be a requirement.
I agree with this decision.
Although I don't agree with the new law passed last year requiring the attendance and graduation of an accredited driving school. I learned how to drive a tractor trailer from working on a farm and studying the PENNSYLVANIA CDL Manual.
One and done I took my cdl training at CR England and passed everything one time. It’s not hard just study!
When i got my cdl i failed hazmat first go around was able to redo that another day.
If you fail airbreaks its automatic you got to redo entire thing
Not sure how it is now here in alaska. Here there is a trucker shortage.
Its not lack of truckers so much as they cant pass drug tests or background checks or just dont want to work. There is a slow down in things being transported as well.
Just not much moving.
I'm a driving instructor in Arkansas. If a student passes a section of the CDL test and fails one of the other two, they don't have to retake the the section that was passed. They start over where they failed and continue on from there.
They used to send new drivers to us that said they NEVER had to open the hood!
Most of these new drivers scare the hell outta me. Trucking is a marathon not a sprint. These guys are driving way too damn fast out there. Its ridiculous
Agree.
I am an examiner in AZ, and am shocked at how easy the new vehicle inspection is to pass. My students have NO idea how to safely operate their trucks. How do you feel? :(
You're right. I didn't see a shortage of truck drivers. There is a shortage of jobs because I was selling my truck a year ago because of the market
I'm not sure about this testing and can't figure out what Florida is talking about.
My Company has a CDL testing program in accordance with Federal regulations. Missouri, Pennsylvania and Utah already do this. I know because I am a CDL instructor and have had students fail backing but pass pretrip. Return 2 days later and start with backing. They usually pass on second attempt backing and road test.
So I'm not sure what this is about.
I agree. There's no shortage in trucking, and there's an overage of unprofessional CDL operators who come in with their 4-wheeler mentality. It needs to be harder to become a CDL operator for everyone's safety and the do something about allowing everyone to qualify to drive any vehicle on the road.
Rip! Little doggie bet it was a tough Road Dog!
There on dmv should be reading test and check point for head phones and wire tap with small camera
I thought that’s how it already was, I got my CDL through Prime Inc. And there if you fail the road test, you don’t have to retake the pre-trip or the backing same as if you failed the backing you would not have to retake the pre-trip. However, the test stops as soon as you fail. So you failing, you don’t get to move to road test. So I’m surprised to see Florida trying to change it to this. I thought it was already like that.
This was how it was when I got my cdl too. You had to pass everything the day of
if you ace pre-trip and maneuvering, but auto fail on the road piece for some ridiculous reason, then why waste everyone’s time doing pre-trip and maneuvering again? just so government guys have job security? the guy i road tested with didn’t even have his cdl 🙄
I thought it was like this from the beginning.
Oregon let's you come back anywhere from 1 hour to 3 days. Once you pass, you don't have to re take that test
They need to do something, its gotton a bit scary out here
He's not fat his fur makes him look chubby
Pass all 3 at the same time is the entire test. Trucker shortage? Not at all. Supply & Demand Law. If Supply is high and Demand is low then rates would be higher. Nuff said!
During the pandemic several states allowed 16-18 yr olds to get their regular drivers license without 1. Taking behind the wheel drivers education 2. Behind the wheel drivers test. All they needed was a parents note saying they had the "required hours" driving with parent supervision. Unfortunately i dont trust the parents of most 16-18 yr olds these days.
The way a lot of cdl license holders drive now days I wonder if they had a note to get their cdl.
Illinois already does this, my co worker failed at the DMV, and only had to do the parts of that he failed. Didn’t have to do it all over again.
Not in Maryland! Students pass the Pre - Trip- then fails the range skills - that students does not need to do pre trip again. Passed the pre trip and range skills then failed the road test. That student will just retake the road test. Been doing this for years in many states and in Maryland.
What I just said, was in the article. Only a few States if a student fails a range skills or road trip they will need to start from the beginning.
1:34 Atlas the Trucker Dog sends his condolences.
That’s how it is in ca if you don’t pass you only do the test you failed not all 3 or whatever I’m currently in a trucking school and hear people talk about it all the time
I miss my husky’s so much man
Hi Alex
Ironically they will remember everything doing that way but passing it all together n then see drivers not fully pre-tripping but the ones who had to figure out what part they miss is going to remember because they are more motivated to pass that part is what I've notice when training folks to drive lol
This is confusing.
That is exactly what the test in N.Y is like
If you fail 1 you don't have to do the pre-trip again.
If you failed the road test you don't have to do the other 2 again.
I retired from driving because of all the young drivers that have no idea what they're doing nor the responsibilities they have underneath their ass.. 40 tons of weight going down the highway isn't something you play with. Unless you don't value your life very much. When you stop and you see someone passing away in front of you.
Remember this is just a job you still have to go home to your family.....
God bless America. Remember less is more.
It's always something with these Politicians
Alex this Is All About Money Florida is Just under pressure to do this from big companies it’s Sad 😞 😎🚛
There is talk in Alberta that they’re looking at making trucking an actual trade, and that is to clean the industry up from faulty schools and the people that do your road test from being bribed there’s a lot of it in Alberta. I don’t think I have to mention what two nationalities they are.
