Tim has a five octave range, Adam Chance, the baritone, covers the bass when Tim has lead and has 4 octave range himself. For examples of Tim's upper register, Snow Globe, Mayday, Let's Get It On/Living Out Loud. And as far as Austin's appeal. I'm an old girl, not into squeaky high boy band tenors. For me, no disrespect to others, but Austin has the "manliest" buttery tenor voice I've ever heard. The fact that he's easy on the eyes (as are they all), is pure bonus! Great reaction and new sub. Keep it up.
I agree about Austin’s voice it’s just so buttery and Rob’s has so much soul. Before Home Free I did not like listening to tenors. Then of course you have Tim’s amazing five octave voice and Chance’s incredibly smooth baritone; and there are just no words to describe Adam’s massive talent. Added to that, all of them are easy on the eyes. But besides the incredible music they make the best is that you can see that they really love what they do!
I'm a seasoned lady, (as Tim calls the women at their concerts) who has always loved barbershop. Was even a Sweet Adeline back in the day. I just found Home Free June 2021 and regret not knowing of them from the beginning. So as a well seasoned home fry, I can tell you, all five boys are extremely easy on the eyes, especially Austin's smirky side mouth grin to the ladies. But Tim is the one for me. Chance, Rob, Adam, Austin and even Chris can make your heart skip a beat, but Tim's bass can make it vibrate to a stop. So, we all may have a favorite, but, nothing beats all five performing together!
You are so right, they are great solo, but Nothing beats them as a Total group. They were just born to be Home Free. I love there solo work, Austin especially speaks to me, but absolutely nothing is better than the 5 of them together as a tight group !!!!
Amen Dawn! Tim, Tim, Tim. The way he plays with the audience, his respect for his wife, and that Voice. I know he can sing that low, but it still makes me gasp.
Dawn, I just found out about Home Free last summer. I just turned 70 this last February, so although I'll probably never hear them live I guess I will still love being a seasoned lady. Thank you for sharing.
@@kathleenzeigler8285 To see Tim Austin and friends live you need to check out - Shanrocks channel he goes to their Backyard Bashes and upload videos from them ,and believe me when i say that the european fries are so greatful and loving him for doing it , remember they are not coming back here till 2023 at the earliest
Hi Larry! Tim has a five octave range. The unique thing is that what ever register he's in, his words and runs are absolutely spot on. You can understand ever word and note.
For some time, when they did the introductions, Tim introduced Austin as „our sky high tenor and Home Free heartthrob“, while Austin introduced Tim with „he can sing as high as I can.“ And that‘s true to this day.
You should check out Tim's newest solo, from his Doo Wop album called Pieces of Me vol. 1 ... The song is Come Go With Me, it's Fantastic. He has a 5 octave range....and by the by, I love HF, PTX , and Voiceplay.... They are all insanely talented with each having their own flair.😁
I believe Tim Foust’s range is about A0-A5. Sometimes Rob and Austin will tell him to get out of their tenor range and back down where he belongs - LOL!
Austin, the high tenor, is called the "HF heartthrob" of the group. Tim is the "dragon". Rob (beard) is the "cuddling teddy bear", Chance (half beard/newest member) is the "country boy", and Adam (beatboxer) is called the "freak of nature". All in fun!
My granddaughter (13), got in to a capella because of Austin!! Going to see them in March. She gave up her Christmas gift to get to see them again. Already planning her outfit and everything. 😆
I got into accapella in high school when The Coats (Then the Trenchcoats) did a workshop for our choir. I'm a bass girl though. Tim is my favorite. I recommend Ring of Fire. 💚
Peter Hollens is a fabulous vocalist and arranger. The songs "Misty Mountain" and "Sound of Silence" with Tim and Peter are jewels. For pure Peter, you may want to check out some of his prolific Christmas catalog, most of which is layered solo a cappella, especially "Carol of the bells," and "Oh come oh come Emmanuel". He has collaborated with Tim and with The Hound and the Fox many times. His "I still haven't found" with HF is breathtaking, well worth your time! Together, Peter and HF are unbeatable :) Thank you for your reactions!
I love all the guys in the group but i love Chance's voice its smooth like chocolate. The others are great too. Tim with his low bass, Austin with his high tenor, Rob with his beautiful voice, and Adam Rupp with his beat boxing it pulls everything together.❤
I was a big fan of PTX as they were the only acapella group that got TV exposure during Christmas. Still love them. But after I found Home Free....that was it. They are my go to acapella group. Their richness...maybe because they are all male....won me over. And Timothy and his bass....mature female fan girl. But in love with his Do Whop album.
🤣🤣I am 62years and love Tims and Austin, but we have Adam and Adam and our sweet Teddybear last Peter have awesome voice, they can sing awesome east other of them and thanks for your reaction hugs from Norway 🫂🫂💞💞Tim has 5 octave 👏👏
As mentioned, Tim's solo "Come Go With Me" really showcases his range since he does all the layers. It's incredible! He just slides in and out of that range with ease every time. But if you want to hear him do a song in 'complete', insane bass, listen to "Brothers In Arms".
A great reaction! After O Holy Night was Amazing Grace the second song I heard from Home Free. To hear the absolutely perfect harmonies - WOW. But when Tim was starting that just blew me away. He is in my eyes the best singer at this time with his 5+ vocal range. Every note perfect and clear, phenomenal. My Maria and Maday are just two examples.
TIM FOUST HAS A 5 OCTAVE RANGE!!! LISTEN TO "SNOW GLOBE", WHICH TIM CO-WROTE. HE ALSO WROTE "FULL OF CHEER" and many many more that are unreal! Thanks for your reaction!
Tim Foust said in an interview that you had to be able to sing in a higher range in order to practice going lower and lower into bass. That is why he is able to change octaves so easily, he has honed his voice to perfection. Now not everyone can sing bass like Tim but he started singing in a higher register prior to being able to actually sing in bass. He has a natural deep voice but normally a bass singer is not able to reach the notes that Tim can. Even when singing bass you will notice that Tim can keep up at different registers. He is absolutely amazing and REAL......!!!! Carole and have a great Christmas Season Larry.....
For Tim Foust's bass, listen to 'Misty Mountain", a collaboration with Peter Hollens who is featured on this track, though not a member of Home Free. Peter often makes multiple tracks of his own voice and sounds like an entire choir. left to right, they are Adam Rupp, beatboxer and cofounder of the group from Mankato, Minnesota. His brother Chris, the driving force behind Home Free since school days, left to take his own path in 2016. He was still with them for "Do You Hear What I Hear?". Next is Austin Brown, high tenor from Tifton, Georgia, Peter Hollens, who also collaborated with Tim Foust on "Greensleeves", Adam Chance, the newest member (baritone/bass) called Chance to avoid having two Adams. He is from Alabama. The bass, Tim Foust is from Lumberton, Texas which is, as we say in Texas, just up the road from me. Far right is Rob Lundquist, another Minnesotan who sings tenor and was on board before all those southern boys turned them into 'country' a capella. Edit: Tim's higher range is highlighted on "Mayday".
Hey, Larry, I have always loved a cappella. I used to sing in a choir way back when but I have to say that Austin does makes my little old heart twitter...I am 71 years old but I can still look and admire a cutie....just like you are......!
lol....Austin the heart throb...the best example of that is " When a Man Loves a Woman ". The original by Percy Sledge and more recently by Michael Bolton...but gosh....then there is Austin...oh my....he is not a blue angel....but he is an angel singing lead in this song. Don't let your significant other hear this lol. Thank you for your wonderful reactions :)
I think I read that the bass had a range of 5 octaves. 😳 Great reaction to a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. I enjoyed the reminder of the Blue Angels, Chris.
To highlight Tim’s range, maybe try back to back reactions to “Brothers in Arms” from Home Free then swing over to Austin Brown’s channel for “My Maria” Both beautiful in really different ways, and also contrast Tim’s ranges.
The heart throb Austin Brown can get into counter-tenor maybe into alto range. As you hear you'll be impressed. They covered the song Crazy by Patsy Cline, he did it in her key.
Another song where Tim goes from the basement up to tenor is the mashup of Thinking Out Loud and Let’s Get It On (Austin leads Thinking and Tim leads Get It On and does a surprise sound effect at the start.)
Great reaction...I knew you would enjoy this one....it just doesn't get any better than this...absolute perfection! If you want to hear Tim's higher range...check out Austin's channel...Tim and Austin sing My Maria! Also Tim just released a solo video on his channel...Come Go With Me! It's all Tim ....all doo wop!
I live in Pensacola, Florida and your analogy to the Blue Angels was spot on. Just as you think Home Free has peaked they take off even more kinda like the Blues. So AMAZING!!
Love your Blue Angels analogy, it was perfect, I think Home Free and Peter did an absolutely beautiful version of Amazing Grace, great reaction! Please check out Street Corner Symphony's cover of Uptown Funk, Adam was their bass before he joined Home Free, it is a fun cover. I am not a young girl (I have children older than these guys), but I can appreciate a fine young man when I see one and Austin is adorable.
Often, Tim (who does most of the talking during a concert) will make mention of the most asked question by audiences: How do we take these men home. Personally, I've raised my kids and don't need 5 more! And comparing them to PTX (or Voice Play or Voctave for that matter) is like comparing apples to oranges or even bananas... depends on what you like; it's all good fruit! I prefer HF.
Tim sings a pretty high tenor lead in the Christmas song he wrote and Home Free performs-Snow Globe. As others have said, he has a 5-octave range. Plz consider reacting to Do you hear what I hear by HF-the one that was about to play at the end for today. You’ll love it. Enjoy your reactions!
Listen to MAYDAY! It starts and I thought it was the high tenor, Austin Brown, but it was Tim Foust, the bases of all bases. Been a fan since 2015, 3 generations of us. They are funny, kind, talented men that love their fans and worked so hard during COVID to stay relevant. Check out their version of Kenny's the Gambler. They filmed and sang it from their own homes, in LA, Nashville, and Minnesota..............and it looks like they were all in the same room! Best group to come out in ages.
This group is so versatile that it isn't "me, next", but "dude, you should lead first", when they have song meetings. When I was on bed rest pre-surgery, I did middle of the night Google and RUclips searches on their ranges. For your enjoyment as a reactor, I will leave you with some hints only. During songs the same person might sing high, higher, middle, low OR beatbox, and then switch! As a group, the vocal range is G0 to D6.
Tim has a 5 octave range and can sing competantly in all 5....sometime after Christmas you should listen to Home Free do a cover by cam, called MAYDAY....but be ready for a surprise or two
Excellent example of Tim's vocal range, in my opinion, would be "My Maria" sung by Tim and Austin on Austin's back porch. Pure perfection. Love your reactions as you traverse the Home Free universe. HF's rendition of "Do You hear What I Hear" was the inspiration of Adam Rupp, the beat boxer. The background you'll see is real, no green screen. Merry Christmas and blessings always to you, your family and friends. Glad to be a subscriber.
A couple more songs to think about. Gospel - How Great Thou Art. - Absolutely stunning , film in the Alps. The next a Vince Gill cover “Go Rest High on That Mountain”. Very moving song
Fifty-ish girl here and the more songs from Home Free I watch, the more every member of the group makes my heart melt as they all have their own specific unique talent and they are all amazing. I am in love with all of them, not just Austin. They are such a fun loving super talented group. Have you seen Home Free "honey I'm good" such a fun video to watch. So yes don't get me started on falling in love with any of these guys and yes i would love to sing in a vocal group, but these guys are better without a soprano in the mix LOL
In regard to the question about being I to a cappella. I’ve always had an affinity for it growing up but this group brought it back into highlight. Tim is the heartthrob for me. That deep bass does it.
My mother and I sang this song at various churches. Depending on my voice that day. Mom had melody and I had either upper or lower harmony. Good times.
All of them eye candy for us old gals too smarty pants! LOL-I really love acapella groups, especially Home Free. You really need to check out Mary Did You Know, and When A Man Loves A Woman. Stunningly beautiful!
This is just beautiful. Peter has done many collaborations with Tim Foust and a few more with HF. Tim has a 5 octave range maybe more. Try Snowglobe and Mayday to hear his tenor. Try Misty Mountains he does with Peter Hollens for his deep range or Brothers in Arms…he’s amazing. They are all so talented. Do You Hear What I Hear is amazing and arranged by the beatboxer Adam Rupp. Angels We Have Heard on High is wonderful. So many good songs. Another great one is Helplessly Hoping. Enjoy and have a wonderful Christmas!
Tim Foust has a duet with Austin Brown of "My Maria" - it's terrific and shows Tim's range! They have another duet of "What's It To You" that also does so.
ATaste of Tim's Range would be his first solo release from his all acappella all Tim Foust Do wop album. It doesn't show his full top note Range but it'll give you a taste. Tim Foust "Come.Go With Me." My heartthrob of the group is Tim but I just adore them all.
In concerts shortly after their SingOff win, Tim introduced Austin as their ‘Home Free Heart Throb’. Loved this collab with Peter Hollens. Merry Christmas!
Tim sings high tenor on "SNOW GLOBE" and " MAYDAY", but you are not ready for "MAYDAY" yet. If you would like to hear TIM GO SUPER DEEP, WATCH "MISTY MOUNTAINS". HE BLOWS THE SPEAKERS!
I’m 65 years old and I love listening to Home Free, and especially Austin Brown! Beautiful voice AND specimen of the human male! LOL. And I LOVE good harmony and a cappella!
Tim's higher range, "My Maria" with Austin Brown and Tim Foust (not Home Free). Another would be "Mayday." Lower range, "Ring of Fire." Season 4 of the Sing Off is better than the studio version. "Misty Mountains," with Peter Hollens. "Folsom Prison Blues." The list is never ending!!
Go! Team Blue. And Go! Team Tim :-) You know, I'm a pilot, and you just added a fourth dimension to flying, as if three weren't enough. Great analogy there ! Hard to get that picture outta my head I guess, not that I WANT to.... Have a great week my friend. Toodle-pip from Norway :-)
It's great that you're expanding your horizons! Your reactions are awesome! Peter Hollens and Tim Foust have done several collaborations.. their voices mesh so beautifully. "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "The Sound of Silence", "Misty Mountains (from The Hobbit)" - Peter filmed his part at home in Oregon, and Tim was in the Caribbean when he filmed his part... Peter is a MASTER of layering voices. I think Misty Mountains by those two would totally blow you away. Peter & Home Free did a WONDERFUL collaboration of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" with an additional surprise that I won't spoil here, but I think you'd be impressed! Tim's range is 5 octaves (probably more now - his Do-Wop album he just released (Pieces of Me) has some incredibly high parts (falsetto, obviously, but still), and he doesn't shy away from filling in the the middle with glorious harmonies and the bottom of the harmonies with his bass). Maybe it's because I'm more of a "seasoned Fry" but Austin's never done much of anything for me looks-wise (he's cute and all, but I dunno... but he has an angelic, pure and beautiful voice, and I love it, don't get me wrong!), but Tim could read the phone book and my knees would probably go weak. :D :D
It's not just the young girls who find Austin's smiling face a draw, I'd bet I'm older than you. They may come for the face, but we stay for the gorgeous music.
Tim has a 5-octave range. Peter Hollens and Tim does a duet of "Greensleeves" and Tim goes High and low in it, also a Christmas song you might like to look at is their original "Snowglobe" where Tim does lead and goes higher, but even more than that check out their cover of "MayDay" Tim sings around a tenor range in that song. If you want to hear Tim's lows, as well as their harmonies, check out "Helplessly Hoping" and or a recent cover dropped on veterans day that is bass heavy called "Brothers In Arms"
Awesome reaction as always! The Pentatonix version is obviously amazing! We are so lucky to experience both groups & appreciate when they put out the same songs they have a uniqueness into themselves!
This is a great version of Amazing Grace. Thanks for your reaction. Love your comment about vocal gymnastics! Indeed!! You mentioned doing a reaction of Pentatonix 12 Days of Christmas but it seems to have been take down. Hope it will be posted again. You should also definitely react to Pentatonix Amazing Grace - another masterpiece of A Capella vocal gymnastics.
Hi Larry, TIM FOUST is a main fixture in HOME FREE. He has a 5 octave range and writes many original songs they sing! He is super talented!!! He is my heart throb! Many more than I am "crazy" about him!! You should play "My Church" by Maren Morris, "Brothers In Arms", and "Everybody Walking This Land". Also "Children Go Where I Go" with the late, great Kenny Rogers! It is a CHTISTMAS SONG! I think that you would really like it. Also since you are not a huge Country Music fan, try "End Of The Road". They are MARVELOUS and I almost like it better than the original; really I like it better. Larry, you are so very likeable! I sure wish that you would delve deep into the HOME FREE rabbit hole! I truely like you and you would fit in so well with us! GREAT JOB SS ALWAYS!!!
Yes, Tim can go higher, Tim can go lower...and for posterity sake I am a Team Tim, lol. Actually any given song that changes too. Inconceivable 😜. In the future if you can, please listen to Peter (ft. here) with Tim doing Misty Mountains. Just sayin'. Thanks for reacting!
Check out Unchained Melody, At Last, Crazy, and Put Your Head On My Shoulder. All solos done by Austin Brown ( high tenor of Home Free). He'll blow your mind away! 'CRAZY' was performed by the entire group which was done to perfection!
Great reaction and Blue Angel analogy! These guys just floor me with their talent. They are as funny as they are talented. I would recommend Snow Globe and Mayday for Tims's high notes as well as his new doo-wop song Cone Go With Me. For his low notes, Hillbilly Bone and Misty Mountain.
They all have a good range, and Adam R. sings good tenor, but never alone. Tim has 5 octaves, and I absolutely love the real deep bass, when he uses it.
I'm a real Home Fry from the Netherlands. I'm in love with all 5. They all have their own specialties. I understand that Tim is so popular with his incredible bass. But also in his high notes he is great. Austin with his big smile and great high tenor and his ad libs etc. Chance with his real country baritone voice and sometimes also his low bass. Adam with unbelievable beatboxing which is actually just not beatboxing but he is just an orchestra/band on his own. But Rob with his voice like an angel and with so much soul touches me the most. Maybe because I'm a bit older and in certain circumstances.😊
Thanks, Larry, you really hit the nail on the head with your comment about their harmonic perfection as is always the case with Peter Hollins. One of my all-time favorites also.
I've certainly been enjoying your holiday specials. Thank you! I think I mentioned on one of your other videos that you hadn't heard Tim hitting his lower notes yet. Well, you just heard some of his lower singing as well as a little of his higher notes. Once you get out of the Christmas season you should check out Tim Foust and their guest Peter Hollens singing Misty Mountain. It's fabulous!
Go listen to their performance on the Sing Off they sing Ring of Fire and when Tim hits that last deep note, the judges can’t believe what he done!!! ITS AWESOME

The original by Percy Sledge and more recently by Michael Bolton...but gosh....then there is Austin...oh my....he is not a blue angel....but he is an angel singing lead in this song. Don't let your significant other hear this lol. Thank you for your wonderful reactions :)
lol, thanks Melissa!
Austin got me from the beginning in OH HOLY NIGHT.
I thought you were going to fall off your chair when Tim hit that low part! I love the reactions when Tim summons his inner dragon.
I just ran across Austin Brown singing Who’s Loving You when he was 13 and he was amazing even then❤️
And as us oldies just love him. He can smile and wink while singing!
I think I read that the bass had a range of 5 octaves. 😳 Great reaction to a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. I enjoyed the reminder of the Blue Angels, Chris.
Tim and Peter have done several songs together. Most go crazy for Misty Mountains...and it is great! But, their Greensleeves is wonderful!
Austin's range reaches D6, which is first soprano territory.
@@roberthudson1959 I've heard him get pretty high, but I wasn't aware of soprano levels.
Yep! Just following acappella because of them...I'm 57 years old!!! But Geoff Castellucci has me
has me hooked as well!!
Austin was raised in a "SOUTHERN GOSPEL SINGING GROUP". His father sang in a Southern Gospel Group that traveled across the South!
Adam Chance - not Adam Rupp. :D Adam Rupp has always been with HF. :D Too many Adams but not enough Adams, IMO!
Snow Globe will surprise you, Tim singing a wee bit higher 😉
If you are in awe of Tim Faust's lower register, look no further than his performance in Home Free's "Brothers in Arms." You will be blown away!!
Tim is my heartthrob.
He already did it
Listen to MAYDAY!
Home Free never disappoints. They are a great group of men. Great reaction
Actually thousands of us have a crush on Tim Foust the marvelous base singer. Their is most assuredly an army of Austin fans too.
You definitely need to check out their song Snow Globe. Tim “Mr. 5 Octave Range” Foust rocks it from the low to the high. And he co-wrote the song!
So glad to have you along for the ride!
A couple more songs to think about. Gospel - How Great Thou Art. - Absolutely stunning , film in the Alps. The next a Vince Gill cover “Go Rest High on That Mountain”. Very moving song
Austin is a heartthrob for sure, but for me it's Tim all day every day, yes please and thank you.
I’m an older girl and I’m into accapella because of Austin. Both his voice and looks blew me away a few years ago.
My mother and I sang this song at various churches. Depending on my voice that day. Mom had melody and I had either upper or lower harmony. Good times.
Ring of fire is probably the best example of Tim’s range.
You as well!
Tim Foust has a duet with Austin Brown of "My Maria" - it's terrific and shows Tim's range! They have another duet of "What's It To You" that also does so.
How great though art is another great hymn they did
ATaste of Tim's Range would be his first solo release from his all acappella all Tim Foust Do wop album. It doesn't show his full top note Range but it'll give you a taste. Tim Foust "Come.Go With Me." My heartthrob of the group is Tim but I just adore them all.
Yes I'm watching this again. 5. It's 5 a octave range for Tim. I'm still so confused & bewildered & amazed yayyyyy 👏 👏 👏 😂❤❤
In concerts shortly after their SingOff win, Tim introduced Austin as their ‘Home Free Heart Throb’. Loved this collab with Peter Hollens. Merry Christmas!
a dissonant chord that gets resolved, beautiful
If you want to hear Tim singing high, then let the song he wrote, "Snow Globe" be your Christmas gift!
Good suggestions 👍❤
Also Snow Globe
Go! Team Blue. And Go! Team Tim :-) You know, I'm a pilot, and you just added a fourth dimension to flying, as if three weren't enough. Great analogy there ! Hard to get that picture outta my head I guess, not that I WANT to....
Have a great week my friend. Toodle-pip from Norway :-)
😎 (some aviators for ya!)
lol, thanks Kristy!
Yes. Austin is a beautifully God made man💜
It's not just the young girls who find Austin's smiling face a draw, I'd bet I'm older than you. They may come for the face, but we stay for the gorgeous music.
I am now a fan of your reactions can’t wait for your next Home Free reaction
Tim has a 5-octave range. Peter Hollens and Tim does a duet of "Greensleeves" and Tim goes High and low in it, also a Christmas song you might like to look at is their original "Snowglobe" where Tim does lead and goes higher, but even more than that check out their cover of "MayDay" Tim sings around a tenor range in that song. If you want to hear Tim's lows, as well as their harmonies, check out "Helplessly Hoping" and or a recent cover dropped on veterans day that is bass heavy called "Brothers In Arms"
Wow their harmonies are absolutely 💯 beautiful, Besides the Bee Gees I'd have to say these guys are brilliant 👏
This was the first song I heard home Free do. Hadn't ever heard of them before.
Can't help following in love is a song that Tim sing well that shows his range.
Love this, but please do PTX... So different, but stunning as well. Amazing Grace is my favorite song ever. Both are first class.
Tim Foust and Peter Hollens worked together in another group some years ago and have remained good friends.
This is beautiful. PTX also has a beautiful version of this song. They are both great groups
ITS AWESOME
In my opinion, the guy with the glasses and beard is the best singer out of the group.
