They are the only group for which I’ll listen to Christmas music all year round. Their rendition of The First Noel is exquisite and I love their version of Oh Come All Ye Faithful, both with unique/creative arrangements unlike any other singers.

Amazing Grace was written by a man who was a slaver. On one of his last voyages, his ship was caught in a devastating storm, and he prayed to God for safe passage, and he'd change his ways.
God saved his life, and he went on to be an abolitionist, saving many other lives.
The Prayer
oh I love this song by Pentatonix so much and so often go back and watch it over and over again- Chills and gossebumpss
You hit it on the head! What I’ve always loved about Pentatonix is that when they cover religious songs it’s typically with no frills and just haunting beauty! And while I’m a traditionalist at heart when it comes to hymns, the Chris Tomlinson rendition of Amazing Grace that they’re covering here adds even more depth to the classic and so glad to see them go that route.

They don’t perform between sundown. Friday to sundown Saturday. (Kevin observes sabbath and they all support him.) They all gather and say a prayer before each show.
All the group believe in God. Matt's dad is a Music Pastor so Matt (1st singer) grew up singing in church..there's some adorable pics of him singing at age 5 or so. Kevin ( the beatboxer...the last to sing) is a Seventh day Adventist and very religious. The other three are all Christians and are all kind, loving people.
The third singer was Mitch Grassi in his lower register ...he's usually the one singing soprano.
1st singer was Matt , then Scott, then Mitch, Kirstie and finally Kevin.
There's some really AWESOME new stuff out from them lately...O Holy Night (audio only so far), Kiss From a Rose (Seal cover). Pure Imagination/ Christmas Time is Here ( blending of two childhood songs), Please Santa Please ( an original written by Kirstie and Kevin).
BTW...I think that mayo jar has finally reached Original Art status.
If you think that this is one of the oldest songs, you haven't listened to PTX sing The Evolution of Music.

I would recommend Prayers for this World off of their last year’s Christmas album (which has been nominated for a Grammy). It’s absolutely stunning!
This was my top song (tied with The Prayer and Love Again😜) until Kiss From a Rose came along….😁❤💚
after watching “The Making of Evergreen” it appears that these people have an unspoken “check your ego at the door” policy …. and after seeing them in person, they seem to actually LIKE each other …….
You just said of this song (and you're right) exactly what I've always thought to be true of another of my favorite songs. Oh, Holy Night. There are so many singers out there who sing it in a way that screams "LOOK AT ME!", when it should be sung with reverence saying, "listen to the song and its message".

You can't go wrong with any of their songs. The Prayer and Sound of Silence are both amazing. Since it is Christmas time, O Come All Ye Faithful and Little Drummer Boy are also both amazing!

I've witnessed so many reactors lose it when listening to PTX's version of this song that it's not even funny anymore. Not saying that you lost it, you didn't. But the line was fine, and I loved it. ❤

Even though I consider myself agnostic, every time I listen to this song I almost believe in God for a little bit! Fool us or not, they're powerful when they sing.

I think they all believe in God and they do say a prayer before each concert (or at least they used to) but don’t know how religious they are. Kevin is very religious but I haven’t heard the others say anything specific. Either way they are passionate about music and it shows.
Yes, they're all Christians. Most are just that, but Kevin is a Seventh Day Adventist and very religious. Matt is the next in "religionism"...his dad is a Music Pastor and Matt grew up singing in church. I suppose and the rest are fairly religious.

It was written by Chris Tomlin for the movie ‘Amazing Grace’ which was about a British abolitionist named William Wilberforce. Beautiful isn’t it?!
