I am 68, soon to be 69, and I have heard Amazing Grace performed many times and many different ways to include by bagpipe at a police funeral (very heartbreaking). I had never heard the version of my chains are gone. It took my breath away. I believe they released this December 2020. It is, by far, my favorite version. When my husband of 46 years passed away in February 2021, this song immediately came to mind. He had been chained by dementia to a shell of the man he once was. When he passed, his chains were gone and he'd been set free to return to his Everlasting Father in Heaven. God bless him. The other song that came to mind was Go Rest High on that Mountain, by Home Free. Music is a powerful force, and these two songs helped me through that emotional time.

Kirstie just keeps getting better and better, as do they all. Their latest performance for the July 4 show on PBS, "Seasons of Love" from Rent was great and Kirstie hit new highs. You need that song in your life. As others have mentioned, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is fantastic as well. Heck pick any recent song. To me, Pentatonix is like fine wine. They started out a little "green" but with obvious, amazing potential. They have aged beautifully. Smoother, richer, more complex. What more could anyone ask?
I've heard thousands of versions of this song in my life, but this is the best I've ever heard. It was literally perfect from beginning to end. I wouldn't call this Kirstie's "best" performance, but it's right up there. She literally does soar in this one, and she gets better and better with every new lead. I think her best, however, was their live performance of Seasons Of Love on the Capitol 4th of July TV Special this year. I was literally SHOCKED at her stunning solo when I was watching the show live. This video was shot at the Wayfarer's Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, just outside of Los Angeles. It really is one of the most beautiful and scenic spots in the world. If you want to check out some truly FUN Kirstie leads, I would suggest The Wizard Of Ahhh's (Pentatonix's collaboration with The Trio's childhood friend Todrick Hall), Rather Be, and her two collaborations with Superfruit (Mitch & Scott's side channel), Frozen Medley & La-La-Land Medley. The last two are actually hysterical comedy videos, but the singing in both is top-notch. Some of her more emotional leads are Shallow and Say Something.

Yes, I love Mitch in this one. But then again,, I love Mitch in most anything!😉 You're right about him being clear when he sings. It's one of the many things I love about his singing, he tends to enunciate every word.

When Kirstie 1st comes in in her solo part, I always hear shades of Dolly Parton! Just the tone and vibrato are so similar. Not a put down, just a personal thought. But then she jacks the tension in that wall of sound up and they drop you over that cliff, just to have you land softly back on the ground! One of my favorites from PTX! Great reaction!
I know basically everyone refers to Kevin as a tenor. I guess because his falsetto can go super high and sounds insanely beautiful. But in his chest voice, Kevin really sounds like more of a baritone/high baritone to me. No big deal either way…because Kevin’s falsetto is INSANELY beautiful. Truly angelic, and rivals Mitch’s. I could listen to Kevin’s falsetto all day, every day. 😂 But I could also listen to Kevin’s beatboxing and/or cello boxing every day. 🤷♀️😂
A couple of Kirsten's great songs are "Say Something" and "Shallow". Plus in both of them you get the bonus of Keven celloboxing! They are both amazing!

I don't know if this is the BEST ever for her or for the group. But it IS among MY top 5. I can't just listen to it one time when I hear it, I have to listen at least twice. One thing I particularly enjoy is that we get to hear Kevin's voice which is unusual. He DOES have an AWESOME voice and everyone would like to hear him more, but he is so outstanding with his beatboxing and adds so much there that we never get enough of him either way. The harmony between him and Matt on the last line is some of the BEST I've ever heard from not only PTX but from any group. It's a pleasure to hear them.

Some suggestions, if you love Mitch try "AHA Shanghai star vista" It's live and shows off the talent of both his and Avi's voice, Mitch takes the lead.(Avi blows the speaker). If you love Kirsty try "Be My Eyes" which was both written by her and she takes the lead. If you love Avi I recommend "Change on the Rise" where he shows his talent as a single artist. If you like Kevin try "Kevin Olusola Down" where he gives you an idea of his talent as a singer, cellist, and beatboxer in one song. If you like Scott I recommend "All of Me" by Scott Hoying. And I think Matts best for me was Pentatonix "The Grinch". If you want to watch their beginnings I recommend Season 3 of the sing-off Pentatonix. There are like 12 videos. Want something just fun, I recommend Mitch and Scott in Superfruit Gye.exe. This is a fun journey, happy to be on it with you.

You need to try Seasons of Love. They filmed this at the Wayfarer's Chapel in Palo Vista California I believe. I can only pray that this place is a little bit of Heaven on Earth.
I get goosebumps every time I here Kirstie sing this. And I have listened to it a lot! Probably will for a very long time. This is by far my favorite version of this song and I have heard some "amazing" versions.
Better is hard to say. She kills it every time she's out front. Kevin is insane but what gets less noticed is the amazing variety of "stuff" she is always doing. If it interests you, run back through songs you've already done & let us know how many it takes before you're like, 'hey, wait, there is so much going on back there... (From everybody to be sure but her variety seems wider than the other "singers" to me.)
Yeah, never thought I would hear a performance that affected me as much as Hallelujah, but this one made my top five list for sure. Beautiful arrangement and a stunning performance that includes all five singers...Kevin's solo at the end was just the cherry on top. Best is subjective, of course, but for me, this isn't Kirstie's best performance, just a huge leap for her. I do, however, believe that this is their second best all around performance after Hallelujah - but again, best is subjective. For me personally, Kirstie's best performance is the live performance of Seasons of Love that they did for 4th July. It's not just the one huge note she hits in it, it's the entire thing; if it was the only PTX video one had watched, they'd very much believe that she was out in front of everyone else in terms of talent, and that she is the lead singer of PTX, which is stand out. Second best from her IMO is Say Something. But you can also look at a bunch of other songs for standout performances from the other people; Shallow is an incredible song for both Scott and Kirstie, as well as showcasing Kevin's cello-boxing, Problem has Mitch rapping and Avi making some sounds that genuinely confuse my brain, Love Me When I Don't is written by Kirstie, Matt and Kevin destroy on both Attention and Feel It Still, Scott is just incredible in terms of his entire range of songs, and each one he's on builds appreciation for him doing something new and different and unexpected. I have barely mentioned Mitch, which speaks volumes of the others, really.

And I think Matts best for me was Pentatonix "The Grinch". If you want to watch their beginnings I recommend Season 3 of the sing-off Pentatonix. There are like 12 videos. I get goosebumps every time I here Kirstie sing this. And I have listened to it a lot! Probably will for a very long time. This is by far my favorite version of this song and I have heard some "amazing" versions.

Better is hard to say. She kills it every time she's out front. Kevin is insane but what gets less noticed is the amazing variety of "stuff" she is always doing. If it interests you, run back through songs you've already done & let us know how many it takes before you're like, 'hey, wait, there is so much going on back there... (From everybody to be sure but her variety seems wider than the other "singers" to me.)

Yeah, never thought I would hear a performance that affected me as much as Hallelujah, but this one made my top five list for sure. Beautiful arrangement and a stunning performance that includes all five singers...Kevin's solo at the end was just the cherry on top. And I love Mitch's angel wings on his jackt - wonder if that came from his personal wardrobe...

These were both recorded during Covid lockdown from their respective homes and they are absolutely phenomenal.
I looked on google and came to the conclusion that it is "Wayfarer's Chapel" in the L.A. area.

Best is subjective, of course, but for me, this isn't Kirstie's best performance, just a huge leap for her. I do, however, believe that this is their second best all around performance after Hallelujah - but again, best is subjective.
For me personally, Kirstie's best performance is the live performance of Seasons of Love that they did for 4th July. It's not just the one huge note she hits in it, it's the entire thing; if it was the only PTX video one had watched, they'd very much believe that she was out in front of everyone else in terms of talent, and that she is the lead singer of PTX, which is stand out. Second best from her IMO is Say Something.
But you can also look at a bunch of other songs for standout performances from the other people; Shallow is an incredible song for both Scott and Kirstie, as well as showcasing Kevin's cello-boxing, Problem has Mitch rapping and Avi making some sounds that genuinely confuse my brain, Love Me When I Don't is written by Kirstie, Matt and Kevin destroy on both Attention and Feel It Still, Scott is just incredible in terms of his entire range of songs, and each one he's on builds appreciation for him doing something new and different and unexpected. I have barely mentioned Mitch, which speaks volumes of the others, really.
