I feel the same way, and I kind of feel bad for it, but at the same time I definitely feel like Niantic finds a way to skew it for some folks.

indeed, been feeling like niantic turned off shinies for some accounts like mine XD over 150 phantumps, 200 pumpkaboos and more than 500 pokemon caught with not a single shiny 💀 not to mention the last shiny i caught prior to this event was during timber comm day...
@@bellephantoThat's really not unusual, 500 Pokémon caught isn't much. It's just random, the same chance every time - you might get it on 1, you might get it on 1000. Or 10,000.
@@bellephanto Statistically speaking, if you shiny check 1000 pokemons there would still be a 18% something chance (i forgot how much exactly, but definitely not under 15%) you wouldn't get any shiny. This is pure mathematics btw
I just did my first cliff of this event and first leader of the event.. and got Shiny Dratini on the first go while watching this video… side note I haven’t battled a leader in months

8:35 This turned out to be my favorite spot to catch pokes in LB. The whole area from the end of the "JHook" all the way to the lighthouse had a ton of pokestops. They aren't as dense here in rural Washington 😢 Great video
don't forget to battle a Grunt that says "Do you know how hot Fire Pokemon can breathe?" because you'll get a Costume Shadow Vulpix...

it's kinda the theme of the game nowadays: remember to do million things or your plans fail and you'll get frustrated.
I will say that is a huge gripe I have with the rocket takeover events. They always spawn so many grunts at stops that you can never find leaders. Whenever these events come around I will end up just sitting on a radar for 3 hours until a balloon shows up because you just cant find any leaders at stops.
How hard can it be, that for said day of the event started, to set the new line ups for the shadow Pokémon.
I've never run onto a Decoy Grunt but being rural means less opportunities for most of the game. Edit: I did get shiny outfit Gengar.

I love that you catch your shinies in pokeballs. Im the same way, i wont catch anything i care about in anything other than a pokeball. Its all about the aesthetic.
We’ve used Factor for a couple years now, and we LOVE THEM.
Unlike previous years Halloween event, the bonus was guaranteed double candy awards once a pokemon successfully caught. But this year candy awards depend on which type of ball throw on the pokemon that successfully caught. Also the worst 👎 Halloween event bonus up to date.

Same or I get ones I already have. Tyrunt, phantump and turtwig are ones I really tried hard to get and of course didn’t get one

I've caught 3 XXL fake buddies & when they changed over to Zorua unfortunately none of them ended up being XXL.
The first one hurt, the next 2 in a row was just rough. Never been so lucky & unlucky with XXL.

I've found that if you switch over to your second Pokemon while battleing will sometimes cause the grunt to give you their second Pokemon instead of the first one. Personal observation. :)
Did a very similar strategy as you did for this video. I didn't do 100 grunts but that's because I'm more rural than Long Beach. Although my first Sierra from the balloon was a shiny S. Sableye.. ivs meh like normal but I'll cherish it nonetheless
I’ve been checking grunts all weekend and only found one gastly and one litwick… you weren’t kidding when you said they’re the rare encounters
I think I hatched around 200 12ks with 20 Salandits and finally got my female about 2 months ago! Named her Papa after my one in Scarlet and Violet and my first male Baby
I swear the grunts have full odd shinies as I’ve never gotten a shiny from a grunt.
I haven’t been able to catch a single shiny the entire Halloween event I’ve been playing like crazy too
maybe theres something to catching more pokemon to have a higher chance of running into shinies. or this was plain badluck

FYI, you screwed up with your lucario. You should always give a second charge attack to babies BEFORE you evolve it. It will save you a ton of candy and dust
