Were you able to do this? I have to do mine… I don’t have any tools or a lift. Checking to see if someone else has done it on their own and not in a shop

@@talorryan1730 Sorry just noticed this comment tonight. I was going to and was ready to buy the skid plate. I took my jeep in for shocks and new front calipers (they were sticking) The mechanic did the skid plate too, Materials and labor for the gas tank plate install was what I would have paid for the plate. I couldn't pass it up. Folks, if your skid plate rusted out this means you should get under you Jeep with a wire brush, Rustoleum rust converter and then some under carriage paint on the frame and whatever else looks like it needs it. I did this with my old pickup(looks great) and will do the same with the Jeep.
@@HomeOwnerRepair I had some work done on the Jeep and asked how much it would be to do the skid plate job...I like to see how much I'm saving when I do stuff myself. Parts and labor turned out to be the same price as what I was going to purchase on Amazon. They did the work. I brought the Jeep in with an empty tank....learned that from your video. They were thankful.
@@talorryan1730 I was be able to do mine by myself today. I used 4 jack stand to raise the car a little higher and get everything done within 2 hours.
This came just in time. I am replacing my shifter and noticed my gas tank skid plate is rotting out and definitely needs replacement. Thanks!

I purchased it off of Ebay. Just looked but not seeing any new OEM ones. You may want to ask your local Jeep dealer to see if they can get one. They are very expensive. This one was almost $500.00
@@HomeOwnerRepair I found one for my grand Cherokee on Amazon for 300. Dorman. Not OEM but says it weigh 65 lbs so must be pretty solid.
Hello, does the skid plat affect throttle response, and will a bad skid plate cause check engine light to come on for an 02 sensor?

Yes it was ..unfortunately... It was a ton of money..UGH!
