I just found out about knotting and tatting. I've done crochet and knitting. But was board and looking for something else. Thanks for this video of a lost art. I'm a reenactor and my husband and I wear medieval clothing and go to events and I wanted something that women from the Eara would have been seeing doing at camp. I'm very new to embroidery and I like this version a lot better. I found simply tying the knotting around my wrist while I work and keep knotting and as mine lengthens I wrap it around my wrist like it's a shuttle itself. No need for a bag that way. Plus it looks like of cute.

When I saw the first video and you showed how to make those knots, I thought how it could be applied in embroidery, now I see the result and it is beautiful. thanks 🌺

So, it’s a bit like couching- after the actual knotting?

This reminds me a bit of chenille! I've gotta give this a try one of these days.

I've yet to give chenille embroidery a try! it's hard to find the right thread :(

My question is, did the chenille knot come first and then chenille thread was made later in time to replace it?
