I didnt realize how maxing confidants had an impact on the end game scenes, and only focused on maxing it out on my waifus, even going on to hanging out with them after alr maxed out lmao. Gonna play P5R with a new mindset.
At the very least? Royal has improvements across the board, with running outside, fusion alarms, auto text, even adding a phone call at most confidant ranks to have it level faster.
I used Kaguya after I died about 4 or 5 times to this boss. Had refused to do so because the Shining Arrows ability is broken but whatever, the game wasn't playing fair either haha.
I remember when I got to cognitive haru, and the game’s dialogue told me “KILL HER BEFORE SHE EXPLODES!!!”... so I attempted to do that instead of guarding... and I died :)
My ONLY problem with this fight was the fact that enemy waves can flee and essentially come back with full health for no reason. The least they could've done was bring them back with half health, but no all that time you spent damaging them was for nothing. I actually thought the last robot was fun, but getting there was torturous. Had 3 minutes left on Hard and most of that time was wasted on the previous enemies respawning.
@@Lazaruz95 Eh. Thats silly. Why not just a smaller ffinite amount period. The biggest issue is damage sponge bots IMO. I don't care about the rotation. Just why are the bots are able to take double LV3 Baton Passes that's stupid
That and there's no all out attack with no explanation. Like, I'm all for a boss that wants you to emphasize a specific mechanic, but it feels cheap when the only way for that process to "work" is to randomly remove another core mechanic.
@@keithrichards8123 Pretty sure it's because Okumura is still vibing in the background, but considering he's unable to be damaged (thus preventing all out attacks) it's still a stupid idea.
I know i'm going to sound like a crazy person but put this fight on merciless. Do yourself a favour, treat yourself. Trust me. This is the one fight, where putting it on the hardest setting is going to HELP.
Kuuga In Merciless the damage multipliers are increased due to the stronger enemies, so in reality you can actually defeat the robots a lot more easily.
@@amirgarcia547 Don't regular attacks also become a lot weaker as well? Never played on merciless (currently playing hard) but it looked like in the video he took way less damage than my blocking defense buffed party on hard.
@@snozer6966 The increase in damage and health from the enemies is not nearly enough to make the boss harder than if you did it without the merciless multipliers, it'll guarantee you can take them out without worry. Trust me I did it on the first try on merciless and couldnt understand what everyone on normal and hard was talking about, it just seemed like a very boring fight.
Okay it's good to know I wasn't the only one having a hell of a time with this boss fight in Royal. I managed to pass it, after like 7 or 8 tries. It was ridiculous. Not to mention every time the enemies take their turn you gotta sit through their slow, stand-up animation EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I got him on my scend try. It was so annoying. That you have to hit the grunts.with a specific attribute. But you have to kill all of them. In one shot. Or you have to do it all over again.
This was the 1st boss i actually "failed". I got frustrated after 20 minutes in the actual boss cause my personas were too weak. Beat him in under 10 minutes in the 2nd try.
Literally all I did was go back a day, and then splatter kill a bunch of underleveled personas in mementos for like 20 minutes to gain about 4 levels (and bought items to buff attack from Jose) and beat him in 2 tries after. Compared to the ridiculous amount of grinding you'd have to do in P3 at times, this is nothing. This boss is a bit frustrating admittedly, but it's really not that big of a deal
I hit it was a super buffed arsene, I made him a gun build OSK, Riot gun and gun amp, gun boost apt pupil. 1 shot first wave, 1 bottle second wave, almost 1 shot 3rd wave, and ripped last wave in seconds
Same here. What I think really helped me was that Hifumi ability of switch party members in their own turns. And since I already lost the first fight also knew the order of their weaknesses.
2:10 the reason you can't All-Out Attack is because the game sees 5 enemies, not 4. Even though you can't attack him, Okumura is still taken into account. So if he's not knocked down, you can't AOA
Wow, that makes perfect sense. Tho tbh, I also figured out pretty quickly that you needed bombs to get through the first 3 waves, which I did pretty fast. You need Concentrate and/or Magic Ability tho, which is obtainable via Network Fusion (you can also obtain Satanael's Pagan Allure trait by spamming the heck out of it with the menu)
This fight made me so mad, I turned down the difficulty, and used Thanatos Picaro, and I was trying not to use the DLC personas. I honestly clapped when Akechi shot Okumura.
My friend warned me about this boss fight and when I took out the first 3 waves I was thinking “Ah it’s not that bad”. Then I got to those green assholes and died 2 times before I somehow got lucky on my 3rd attempt. I’m warning everyone who’s playing the game right now, to be prepared for this boss battle because it’s bullshit. If it weren’t for the fact that the enemies respawn infinitely, and they didn’t resist everything that they weren’t weak too this fight would be sooooo much better.
I basically grinded up an 99 all stat Arsene and nuked it with a gun build I didnt know about the boss change, but when under merciless, with the right buffs(speed master and attack master) a good build destroys it Also utilizing the hell out of itemization can get multiple great items like an psi attack st item for a person, or yuske with a +12 str item by the 3rd palace, which thanks to the double stat glitch, is +24 strength early game Tech damage destroyed them also, things that were not put in the non royal, the game isn't easily done without it
Persona 5: Okumura may have been a bad dude but Akechi is a horrible person for shooting him repeatedly. Life ain't fair for my favorite Cinnamon roll Haru. Persona 5 Royal: ............ WAIT, I saw him twitch. SHOOT HIM AGAIN!
I would have felt shame. This battle is actually hardest on hard. Which is retarded because it shouldn't be super easy on the hardest difficulty compared to just hard. I beat it on hard after 5 attempts a lot of raging and a couple of breaks a way from the game. Didn't use cheese dlc persona either. The best feeling in the world was getting past those goddamn green robots. That was the only portion of the fight I struggled with.
What's your take on the whole Ryuji and Morgana conflict? I was on Ryuji's side the whole way. Sure he said some harsh words, but Morgana bullied and degraded him through the entire game with little to no reason.
I remember it being much worse in P5 then P5R. Seems like they toned it down a little. I do feel that both were at fault but yeah morgana totally picks on Ryuji a ton. Also it felt more like Ryuji was teasing Morgana back more then anything else.
its not only mona, all of them do it, u can see it after shidos palace, ryuji saved all of them and they beat them up for something he had no controll over.. it made me so mad. yeah ryuji is loud and he is a little dumb but why does everyone have something mean to say to him? ryuji is often the person who brings the plot in motion, he says something and ah yeah whats it..
@@LinUzumaki that enraged me more than anything, but I was trying to avoid turning my comment into a rant. Ryuji may be a bit book dumb and impulsive, but he's far from stupid. He's the one that brought the model gun and medicine in the first place. But after nearly dying they just leave him unconcious on the street. Even you, his best friend. Single worst moment of the game for me.
James McDonald What Morgana and Ryuji had before that moment was just playful banter about Ryuji being dumb and Morgana being a shifty cat. It honestly surprises me how much it bothers a lot of people but everyone’s different. In terms of that argument, I don’t think Ryuji did anything wrong since Morgana was literally looking for a reason to leave in that instance. Felt weird how everyone was on his case for just defending himself.

I completely agree with you that the whole Okumura arc was the weakest in the entire game. I didn’t really enjoy it in P5 or P5R so I’m glad I finally got it over with the other day
I think the Okumura arc could have been allot better if Kaneshiro's and Okumura's palaces had been swapped and they didn't make it as obviously Akechi was the traitor. Medjed would then have a reason to target the PTs, and they'd take Kaneshiro's heart to prove their justice, and Sae would be told to look into them much earlier. After Okumura died would be when Morgana leaves, and instead of finishing the palace to unlock Futaba, you instead unlock her from the beginning as a replacement nav to Morgana
“You won’t be able to beat this boss with a level 90 Persona using Almighty Attacks.” Welp, that one more mistruth that Izanagi-no-Okami has to wipe away.
Yeah a concentrate plus using items to knock down the enemies then using baton pass to get to joker and then using myriad truths decimates them. So hes dead wrong on this lol
this video just proofs that if you know how to overcome an obsticle its a breeze. granted if you dont have the dlc personas you dont have a lvl 90 persona at this point to disproof his arguments
Yah...didn’t appreciate that major spoiler in what is supposed to be a video about near the halfway point of the game...still tho, i appreciate not being the only one who thought this fight was atrocious!
Could you at least edit your comment and bring the spoilers down, so people have to press *read more* Appreciate the warning but your words are literally just sitting out for anyone to accidentally read/skim through....luckily I avoided it
I got spoiled already that Akechi killed Futaba's mom, but he did that too? Goddamnit I'm just about to steal Sae's treasure, this prolly gets revealed in the hour and half dialogue after it right??? Man I was hoping to relieve some Okumura pain but now I think I've come across more pain knowing that Akechi really seems to dislike Joker

I feel that Okumura's boss fight or Palace as a whole was designed, coded, tested, and written by some interns that never seen the rest of the game at all.
his palace isn't that hard. Weird, yes. Difficult, not really. Not to mention his boss fight is a joke, especially if you know what you're doing. maybe it's because I barely remember it and I just found Shido's palace way more frustrating.
@@GiordanDiodato It's definitely annoying, with its time limits, Morgana telling you the treasure is just up ahead but then needing to spend time completing airlock puzzles, and this boss fight is something else in Royal. This is just a nitpick but I also felt that Okumura's palace had the worst palace theme.
Especially when you consider how palaces have been thus far. Castle? Yeah thieves always loot castles Museum? Paintings like the Mona Lisa have the eye of many theives for years.(and a certain blond-haired murderer) Bank? THAT'S BASIC THIEVERY 101 Tomb? There's entire games and movies based around tomb robbing. Then there's a fucking space station... WHO STEALS FROM THERE??? THE ALIENS???
People kept saying how bad this boss was in vanilla Persona 5, so I was expecting them to improve it in Royal. I didn’t expect them to make things even worse. Those big green guys can fuck right off. If you don’t have enough damage output, you can get stuck in a fruitless infinite loop. I died once to this boss just so I could have a second shot. I was level 46 when I fought Okumura. I ended up having to fuse a LEVEL 64 Yamato-no-Orochi with Mapsio to get through that annoying phase. Meaning if I hadn’t ranked up with the Twins, I would have been screwed. And Cognitive Haru is just salt in the wound. I am fairly certain that a reasonably leveled party would have a near-impossible time defeating her before she self-destructs. I’m just glad it’s not an instant game over. Yeah, I know I’m just repeating what was in the video, but I really needed to vent how badly designed Royal made this fight.
seeing as how they vastly improved the madarame fight, I was really hoping they'd improve this one but instead they did the opposite. Sucks cause i'm about to start his palace soon too
You clearly didn't see how much Ryuji's confidant breaks Mementos requests then(put that along with more items from Jose and you'll have everything you'd ever need and levels to back it up, along with special treatment at level 5 if being op is your way of going about things)
@@ryanp7546yeah, my only complaint about royal is new game plus lack of challenge, and merciless being so dumb because it doesn't increase the health bars of the enemy, sure they hit harder but so do you, and if you make op personas then you are literally invincible, there's no big reward for being start, you feel like Saitama honestly, holding back just to have fun, I know it's not going to happen but I wish Persona 5 got an update that made Merciless as difficult as it is in P5 Strikers, because there you practically need op personas, and even then you'll still probably get a game over.
It’s crazy how easy this fight becomes on merciless Enemy defence is greatly lowered Attack is upped insanely Beat it on my like 2nd try After losing to it a million times on normal and easy
yea it's so much easier on merciless, you just gotta make sure not to get crit, technical or weak attacked by the enemies or it will like insta kill you
I think some dev probably inverted logic accidently for difficulty in this boss fight... Imagine boss fight where hardest difficulty is easiest and easiest difficulty is hardest... what the actuall heck xDD
What I believe most likely happened is that Okumura's palace went through a rewrite. After all, it's the palace that introduced Haru yet unlike other palaces does not have her give an introduction "you suck" speech to her father before the boss fight. Don't believe me? Don't worry, I have the Persona 5 opening to back me up as well. Haru is the opening is portrayed as a more sassy looking rich girl or an aloof rich girl instead of her extremely kind and caring demeanor in the game. Thus, suggesting that Okumura's palace most likely went through a rewrite to change Haru's character for who knows what reasons.
Bro, when cognitive Haru came out onto the battlefield I almost shit myself because I only had 1:30 left, luckily I was leveled enough to take her explosion and I killed Okumura within the final 5 seconds. I mean I thought it sucked before, but it sucks harder now. This was on my third try btw.
I spent around 5 hours grinding to level 50 for this fight. I was playing on hard. I couldn't beat it. Broke a controller, turned down the difficulty to easy, and accepted defeat as I gleefully got past this god forsaken palace
Level is not as important as having the right teammates and personas. Granted, this fight in particular also requires at least a few psy and wind items to make it doable, which is not something you can get on the spot.
Man, I went blind into the fight thinking it would be like the last ones, I've been fighting this thing for 2 days on level 34, was about to advance once and at the last minute, with a punch away from being defeated the chuncky green guy fleed, like wtf?
This was my first Persona game and I was hooked from the start. I played this game 15 hours a day every day until this exact boss fight. I was so tilted I stopped playing for a week and had to force myself back in to finish it and enjoy the rest of the game. At the end this game is still one of my favorite games of all time, however this fight very nearly prevented me from having that experience. It is truly a miserable boss.
It only happens twice, the boss inside Futaba's palace (who kinda sucks btw) and the Holy Grail (Atleast Yaldabaoth is slightly better). It could be worse honestly.
Then you have players (like me) who never use items for God knows why I kid you not I probably have enough attack items to kill Yaldabaoth with those by themselves
Evan DeVore lol same. It’s definitely a common theme around Rpg players with resource management. It’s a semi-needless habit that validates our worries that we’ll run into something horribly tough later with 12 unexpected battle phases.
Good luck is what's really needed for this battle. Best thing I can say is build up a persona that is has block on physical attacks and DR and block for some elements. The battle is tough but what makes it's real hard is when joker gets targeted several times in a row.
@@buckroger6456 not really in my multiple attempts at this boss joker was actually targeted the least so there is rng there. you dont really need to be on the defensive in this fight you want powerful personas that can deal magic damage to all the enemies on their weaknesses defense wont get you too far in this fight though it is important. use the item you got from the will seeds of Kaneshiro the one that buffs defense and you should survive fine as long as you arent weak to the enemies attacks. you want to really aggresive and try to debuff the enemies defense cause if you dont the enemy will just respawn
Kevin Espada I would also recommend bringing a persona that can inflict dizzy or sleep, specifically for the black robot. The reason being that technical damage in Royal is a lot better and more viable then regular P5. Assuming you have your technical rank at 3 from playing Billiards, it makes it that if you technical you will have a 50% chance of downing the enemy with a physical attack. Also I would recommend using Makoto because she can heal and has access to Dekunda which clears away all of Okumura’s debuffs from your entire party.
Ben Laufer Yup. I'm thinking making Makoto into Buffer/healer/attacker character. I had good success doing that in OG P5, especially now Makoto got better in royal.
@@zyvan3179 the respawning part is what makes the battle hard since later the enemies will just dip out on you at half health. What I've found out is most people don't get that in this battle it's all about the batton pass and knocking enemies down then making them stand up again to get knocked back down.
You've really done something wrong when the boss is easier to beat on Merciless then on Hard. I have failed it numerous times on hard and wasted around an hour or two on him just to beat him first try on Merciless.
me after the boss fight in p5 : oh my god, how could akechi do such a thing? why would he kill him omg?? me after the boss fight in p5r : THANK YOU AKECHI
They attack one ally, buff the ally's defense or evasion and your good to go. Hell switch out the target so only one of your allies take 3 damage instead of the 4
@@iceboundsatyr5108 Who the fuck do you baton pass to after the 2nd? You can't baton pass to yusuke because they resist physical, and you can only hit their weakness a max of twice with haru and joker. And if you wasted a single turn using charge or concentrate or buffing attack or decreasing defense, then they'd run away. I bet you played on easy or merciless.
Running away is defintely an annoying change, but having four of them to get a max baton pass attack twice makes it much easier, especially with the inclusion of traits and removing baton pass as a confidant ability so Haru can be not only useable, but useful
The fury and rage in my eyes when I made it to the big dude after 4 attempts, and he one shotted joker. I have not hated a boss fight like this in a very long time. And I was playing on Hard with level 45-46 so WTF XD I thought I was overpowered before the 4 green guys appeared and made my night into a living hell. This fight actually made me search for a "retry" button because of the stupid timer. I mean what's the point in fighting the green bosses when there is like 7 minutes left and they all respawn?!? Commit a slow suicide?
Here’s a hint for anyone who gets to this awful fight for the last Giant robot before robo haru. If you have haru in your party, the big robot will only target her with his normal attack (unless he charges and uses his Big Bang attack). Haru naturally has a skill that erects a physical wall, so put one on her and watch him take 250 damage every turn!
Joe H. did you beat it? put it on merciless and keep baton passing hitting their weakness one at a time. then once everyone but one is knocked down, baton pass to someone who can finish them lol
The only problem I had with the fight was the lack of all out attacks. It’s surprising to hear that u got one shot as joker with full health while guarding since I didn’t have that problem at all and I was under leveled.
Brock Biever his story doesn’t add up either he was debuffed and did nothing about it or he didn’t come prepared which I think is the case since he was using curse bombs when the game allows access to several curse possessing personas by Okumara’s palace, sounds like he went in with a plan and when it failed he decided the game is bad 🤷♀️
Ditto here. Either he wasn't using buffs and debuffs properly... or he was lying. Or he was actually just Level 15. Because every replay of that fight, I'd take a max of 90 damage when handling that stuff correctly.
@@tezmick9590 To be fair, i went into the fight normally as every other fight. I had to restart this fight because i just wasn't doing enough damage. Had to fuse Pale Rider to get Triple Down to EASILY win this fight.
Tezmick To be fair I think he meant he using curse bombs so the two other characters he brought who didn’t have anything weak against the final wave could continue the baton pass. I only say that because that’s what I did, I had Joker and Haru who were able to knock them w their personas, but my other two didn’t have anything, so they had to use the little bombs to keep the pass going. However I do agree I don’t understand how his fully healed and blocking Joker got knocked out in one hit. Once I saw Haru was going to self destruct I knew I was in the clear because only Joker needed to survive, which was a guarantee w full health and no debuffs.
Wallabies to be fair I did it on normal without curse bombs on hard it depends on how safe you wanna play it and what random skill rolls you got from alarms if you got concentrate the fight is dirt easy, if not then the curse bombs for a suped up lv4 baton pass is nice, however I found even having curse amp is more than enough
Just fought this boss last night and damn is it a pain. Odd since so far I've been finding the game way too easy and now I just finally got hit with a challenge. Don't mind the jump up in difficulty, but not a fan of time limits in a boss battle.
@@darknesswave100 What do you mean out of nowhere, the time limit makes sense as the place is about to explode. The All-Out Attack is restricted because it's a boss fight and it ups the difficulty. Its worse when Joker is targeted because you lose even if he's the only one down, which is forever stupid. Good on Akechi for shooting him. Deserved it.
I'll never get why when the main character dies in these games everyone else forgets they can just revive him for some reason. Maybe if they made it so it was game over if he stayed dead for 2 to 3 turns or something it'd make a little more sense and feel less like bs.
@@Superluigi881 I was about to say they can't do it without his orders but then realized when you let them act freely they can use Revival Beads Why dude
Ehhhhh... To me this game would be WAY TOO EASY if Joker could be revived. It's all about balancing. It doesn't make it any less frustrating, I'm not happy when Joker faints and the rest of the team are alive, but being able to revive Joker would break the battle system more than it already is
I can't believe they still kept Morgana's hypocritical temper tantrum. Atlus makes him leave the team and forces you to try to sympathise with him, even though he is obnoxious and likes to trash talk everyone except Ann and maybe Haru, throughout the ENTIRE GAME. They want you to think, "ooh Morgana leave because he think he useless ooh how tragic ooh" but it's just thrown into the game for no reason. And I agree with P5R's version of the Okumura boss fight being one of the most annoying, frustratingly awful boss fights in the game.
Would not recommend unless it was a challenge or for shits and giggles. (If I think you’re fighting the boss I’m thinking) he spams light attacks and if you use a certain team member that’s weak to light, he’s gonna die immediately. I did that fight and that team member kept getting hit even though he had Ali Dance on him. The only reason Merciless works for Okurmura’s Fight is bc if a person (both teammate and enemy) is hit with their weakness, the damage is tripled making it easier to kill the green douchebags.
Yup no issues until I got to the three Psy bots on normal and couldnt get all before running away. After several tries out on Merciless and blew through with only some dumb mistakes. Never been so happy to beat a boss.
A tip for anyone thats struggling with the okumura fight, use the magatamas and try to down them individually to trigger tripple downs on every turn, it turns the fight into a breeze
Did not appreciate the spoiler but I love the analysis of the video. As P5R just got ported to Steam and the Switch, this was my first introduction to Persona and knowing that this particular boss fight was just ridiculous. I went to this video after the frustration of defeating him on Normal without guides after the third try and killing him on literally the last second. I think it should make sense that there is a spoiler alert at least in the description or particularly the parts you spoiled the story on; more people like me will definitely encounter this video and I would wish that they could enjoy the story to the fullest since it is really good. With that aside, I think making a joke about an important turning point in the story while discussing a fight before that turning point shouldn’t have even made it into this video. (The spoiler was at the end of the video)
@@randomprotag9329 Even then, challenge would, and does, feel at least slightly fake, due to not being able to do a mechanic that we're normally able to do.

I’m soooo glad I wasn’t the only one not having a good time with this boss fight, the whole boss wasn’t fun at all and thought I was missing something.
It took me like 5 or 6 tries. One instance I had managed to get through the the robot hordes, and only had like 2 minutes left to deal with the huge honkin robot. I was under the impression that was the last phase I had to go through. I was upset when I ran out of time, but now I had at least developed an effective strategy to plow through the robot hordes at a much quicker rate. Get to the robot boss, whittle him down bit by it. Okay, that HAS to be it. Most of my characters are running low on SP, and- "I'll fight for you, father!" You have GOT to be shitting me. Okay. Got through her. Running on fumes here. BARELY survived her self destruct because I just didn't have the firepower to take her out in time. That HAS to be it, right? "I'll take you on myself! ARE YOU FU-
I don't think this is correct. I had trouble the first time I went in. So I reloaded a previous save, ground out 2 levels in Mementos and got out a couple better personas and got through it without abusing the baton pass as well. The trick is to have Joker and Haru use Psio on the one with the buffed defense, then use Mapsio on all of them, then use Triple Shot. I got through the two strong waves in the first attempt each. After all was said and done, there was still like 17 minutes left on the clock when the final, single robot comes out.
Lol that's what I did to beat it. Psychic and triple down on both Joker and Haru. Psychic items on the other teammates definitely helps. I honestly don't know why people are complaining so much.
I think my favorite part of this boss fight in the "walkthroughs" was how they spoke of this stuff matter-of-factly, and after the big bad guy say "The rest of the battle takes place mostly as you'd expect". I suspect they didn't actually play it. I ended up just going back to the start of the day and grinding Mementos until I was running EVERYTHING over with the cat van instantly. Still barely squeezed out the gauntlet phase. And was now comically over-leveled for everything else that followed. I'm still roadkilling everything in Mementos.
Hey, thanks for sorting by new! This fight is actually very fair and can be done without grinding at all (I did it on hard), but you have to be extremely precise, understand what party members and accessories are most necessary, fuse the right moves on your personas (you don't have to overlevel them), utilize your element-specific items, and know exactly when and how to baton pass. For example, you can't knock all of the green guys down at once because you need to power up your baton pass as much as possible AND end it on the right party members. This fight requires a moderately deep knowledge of the game's mechanics, and trust me it can be figured out. For those looking for a challenge, it's actually really well designed. Keep in mind that all of these enemies have two weaknesses!
Okay, this guy forced me to turn the difficulty to Safe my first time, and I hated him for the longest time. But recently, I started another playthrough, and I did some things differently. This time, I FUCKED HIS SHIT UP on my first try. Here's how I did it: TL;DR: Abuse the hell out of Baton Pass, use elemental items to aid in that, keep tabs on your party's condition at all times, make sure you have appropriate Personas and abilities, max out Baton Pass ranks beforehand, and make sure you can survive the biggest threats. For my party, I used Joker, Makoto, Morgana, and Haru. Haru is pretty much a MUST for this fight. For EVERY wave, I used elemental items to build up a Baton Pass followed by an multi-hit attack at the end, and if that wasn't an option, I just did a full Baton Pass to Triple Down. Oh, right-before I forget, MAKE SURE YOU STOCK UP ON ELEMENTAL ITEMS for this fight. You absolutely NEED them to get those full Baton Passes. Also, I sure hope you increased your Baton Pass ranks with the darts game, because you are ABSOLUTELY gonna need that increased damage bonus for this fight. For the first three waves, I did the strategy described above, and the robots went down in no time. When the Wind-weak robots showed up, this is where I switched things up a bit. I used Morgana and Air Cannons to build up a Baton Pass, then finished it with Joker by unleashing Kaguya's Shining Arrows, since these robots are also weak to Bless. Two full-power Shining Arrows, and they melted like putty. When the Psychic/Curse robots came in, I did the same thing, but this time, I used Psycho Bombs and Haru's Psio ability, then finished the Baton Pass with a Maeigaon from Joker. Two of those, and the worst phase was wiped out. For Mr. Big-Shot-Super-Robot, I made sure to use Tetrakarn on Haru's turn, since Mr. BSSR will pretty much ALWAYS use Executive Punch on Haru. When he started using the Big Bang Order+Big Bang Challenge combo, I had Makoto use Makajam on him, and it would cancel the Big Bang. All the while, I would make sure to use Dekaja and Dekunda to remove robot buffs and remove party debuffs, respectively. Finally, when Cognitive Haru appeared, I just made sure to keep the party healthy enough to survive her explosion, and I finished the fight by shooting Okumura right in his fucking jaw. And I did all of this on Normal, and without having a SINGLE wave reset. All in all, this fight is still fucking ridiculous, but if you take the proper measures, you can steamroll this guy with little to no trouble. If you're well-prepared, this guy can go down without a hitch, but if you're not prepared…you better get comfortable doing this fight over and over again. I GENUINELY feel for anybody who's suffering against this guy.
And then there are the numerous story issues with this arc like with Morgans hissy fit and that the game somehow expects me to find Okumura more sympathetic than the other targets. Oh, and just a sidenote. Minotaur is not really a well designed boss. He is a rather awfully designed one that relies on excessive luck while stripping you of resources. Matador meanwhile would have been a better example as you can steamroll him if you know what you are doing while Minotaur is a gamble if you are to beat him even if you know he is coming. And god help you if you get Walter with you in the fight.
@Tum Tum Except the game does nothing to make him seem like it wasn't earned, it falls into the same trap it used for all the other antagonists of making them as despicable as possible. The problem is that Okumura's actions do not win him any sympathy points. First of, he's a cruel boss who shows little to no regard for the welfare of his employees whom he forces to work under terrible working conditions, as seen by his palace's cognition of his employees as mindless robots. Secondly, there were implications that he was a frequent patron of Black Mask whom he has several of his competitors assassinated, which is confirmed when you infiltrate Shido's Palace. The last reason, is his horrible treatment of his daughter Haru. He only sees her as a bargaining chip to sell off to a politician's son so he could enter the political realm himself. What's worse is that Okumura's Shadow is fully aware that Haru's fiance is a potential domestic abuser and unfaithful, yet encourages his behavior. He's no different from any of the other power abusers in Tokyo whose hearts you change, except that he happens to be related to a main character. The problem with your argument is that you put the sympathy on Haru and how she is affected, yet the game tries to portray Okumura as less vile despite his actions and his death as tragic even though he had had it coming for a while. No one deserves to die, however narrative consistency is important, and Okumura suddenly being portrayed as a lesser evil is not an example of that. Like I said, this arc was a narrative mess of them trying to shoehorn certain story beats without making sure that they actually work.
@@matteste P5 story all around isn't great, it pretty much peaks at the end of the first palace and never reaches the same heights. All of the villains are one dimensional saturday morning cartoon villain without any reedeming qualityed (besides the painter guy who is said to have legitemately been a caring father figure to Yosuke), which work for a few, but quickly become repetitive or are the final generic "humanity is hopeless" type. The confidants are of varying quality, but that's pretty normal for persona games, but for some reason you get to romance every female character including Futaba, which seems extremely messed up. The pacing isn't very goodeither as it feels like bery little happens in the middle part of the game which is different than just, recruited a new character. Also let's not forget the forced: "We were all being selfish with our powers" crap, even Haru says it which is extremely contrived as she had to change her fathers heart otherwise she would be sold off. There are many other things to complain about, but this palace show everything wrong with the games writing already. P5 is a good game to play once, but after that you'll see many of it's cracks. Maybe Royal fixes my complaints, I hope it does, but from what I've seen things are mostly the same.
@@vanjagalovic3621 Pretty much, it's just that there are some moments that fall lower than the rest. The game just felt narratively shallow and hypocritical despite trying to appear otherwise.
matteste I felt everything you were saying about the Okumura’s palace arc. There wasn’t a real for the group to be so conflicted or for this to be about Morgana more than it was about Haru. Kunikazu also was just evil as hell. We get that at some point he was a good man, and of course he was caring towards Haru but he was too far gone unlike say Futaba or Sae. It’s hard to feel bad for somebody having people assassinated and purposely selling their daughter to an abusive rapist all for political gain.
@@vanjagalovic3621 That bit about the villains being Saturday Cartoon villains you really feel with the likes of Madarame. What I mean is that when you invade him he comes across as a far cry from as bad as Kamoshida. He come across as corrupt but nowhere near enough to warrant a heart change. And then all of a sudden it is like the writers realized this and just input that scene that reveals him as having killed Yusukes mother through inaction. It just comes so out of nowhere and is then never mentioned again. Can't have the Phantom Thieves being wrong now can we.
I just finished this fight. Took me 8 min under 4 hours to finally beat it. I am so beyond anger, frustration, and infuriation that I have somehow reached a form of peace. I have never recieved less joy and more stress from anything before.
I'm surprised this boss fight is so divisive. In my experience it was a fairly simple matter of using Concentrate on Joker, and then baton-passing to him for an aoe Curse or Psio attack, just rincr and repeat and debuff or attack with the other characters - this is one fight where erasing stat increases on enemies is actually useful. I made sure to have my baton pass ranks up by this point, of course. Like you said, the game gives you the tools you need to succeed.
Im going to be honest. This boss is way easier than people actually think. Its how theyre trying to fight the boss thats the problem . My party was haru morgana and ryuji. I didnt rush into the boss right away and created magic damage items at the workbench for characters who didnt have attacks that could knock down certain waves. When i fought the boss i had the two characters who couldnt perform these attacks use the magic attack items to knock the enemy then baton pass to the other who cant then to joker and the character who can knock them down. I cant stress this enough. DONT USE AOE MAGIC ATTACKS. If you do you wont be able to keep up your baton pass and cant maximise damage output. I also set the difficulty to merciless as it makes the boss easier. After you get to the robot haru the boss is pretty self explanatory. A tip for that final robot before haru. Use lightning attacks to cancel its big bang attack where possible to stun the robot and make sure to keep all party members hp up to avoid getting killed by any of his attacks
Oh look someone's actually good at the game. I'm horrified to see how these guys would handle a SMT boss fight. Now I don't wanna see SMT V cuz they're either gonna make it too easy cuz of these cucks and if they don't then these idiots will complain all over the place about the difficulty.
This boss made me fear for what they did to the later bosses in the game. Like how is anybody supposed to know you have to stock up those items that deal Psy damage ahead of time?
Or you could I don’t know maybe bring a persona with psy attacks🤷♀️ maybe swap Haru in 🤷♀️ I beat the fight without psy bombs so either I’m a genius or maybe your way of thinking is too narrow.
If you even went to Mementos once(even without a single stamp spent on more items from Jose), you'll have enough psy and curse damage to get max baton pass. Considering that the robots have many resists, finding what they don't resist is crucial and can be done in the process of getting the ID to progress further
Before royal came out, i was hoping that they would somehow improve the space palace because not only was it full of BS it was also the most uninteresting one out of all of the palaces even tho it taking place in space shouldve made it one of the most interesting ones. Instead, they barely changed anything besides adding the grappling hook areas and they made one of the most boring bosses one of the most frustrating things ever in a video game. After several hours of attempts and finally beating okumura, i stopped playing for a couple days due to how discouraged i was. Also is it just me or does okumuras muffled voice cause a headache? Anyway, i felt bad for him dying before but after that remade battle, he can burn in hell
God, the original Okumura fight was so fun! It turned you into a speed runner for one fight, getting you to learn every wave and the exact sequence of actions to optimally clear through the waves with enough time for the real challenge! I can’t believe that they took the best boss fight in the game, and turned it into this garbage!
This is actually one of the best fights in the game because it changes the gameplay from being simply spamming AOA or spamming buffs/debuffs like in smt games. At this point of the game you have access to a treasure demon with mapsio, the ability to itemize personas into psio, and the trait that increases AOE magic spells. The errors you are making is not utilizing the max baton pass, and not ending the max baton pass on a character with mapsio. Simply buff/debuff/concentrate on joker's turn ( assuming he has mapsio) then whenever you are ready start knocking each enemy down one at a time so you can max the baton pass. When there is only one enemy up pass it back to joker or haru and have them use mapsio (assuming the trouble is with the last wave) so that way they can get two empowered mapsios off, and do this within two rounds. If you dont want to fuse an item for psio use items that are single target. You can apply this to all the waves. The baton passing allows a ton of versatility, as well as the elemental items and elemental accessories too, this fight on hard becomes easy when you apply all the mechanics, that's what makes it rewarding and challenging.
Oh thank god I wasn’t the only one who struggled with this fight. I had to look up guides and everything just to figure out the strat since I was sure I was doing something wrong. I eventually had to back out of the entire fight to go buy Morgana an accessory that boosted his wind skills, otherwise I would have been fucked.
Yo now the worse thing it's that his palace it's less bad this time than the previous one, at least here you have way more sabe rooms, and the dirt part of the palace it's not a painful ass shore anymore.
Yeah in many ways it’s more manageable but it’s still a fucking slog. The airlock section is still a convoluted mess. Not to mention the Okumura boss breaks the core design philosophy of “take your time” for no real reason other than shit design. Unbelievable they remixed the game and sold it full price without fixing a part of the game so bad it takes a whole letter grade off my rating of it.
@@plosonen I thought it was just me that thought it was easier in royal. I remember taking a long time to finish it before but in royal once I got there I was to the treasure in like 30 minutes cause I fought everything. Probably would have been 15 I didnt
My favourite part of this fight was when you get to the Haru bot and you're told to take it out before it explodes, and when I tried that, it exploded it's next turn and killed me :)
I did this boss recently, and it took me 7 consecutive hours and another 2 hours to beat by learning who to use when to use and if they need to be switched later also praying on rng. Although I agree with you it is still some skill dependent like I saw you do psio then baton to Haru and then just do Mapsio, which is terrible because you could do 3 weak psio baton passed attacks then a baton passed mapsio all while you have either Ann giving offense buff and Ryuji the Kaneshiro will seed defense buff and at the last boss joker keeps guarding and you keep doing physical reflect skill from Haru on herself since the Fiance only attacks Haru.. And in the end I did it within like 12 minutes. Still I mostly agree with you and I too hate the big green boys.
I'm here from the future on the PC version. I beat the original P5 when it came out and decided to start playing P5R on PC since its on gamepass. I seriously don't understand how a late mid-game boss fight could stump someone who beat the original game 3 times over on increasing difficulty levels. The insanity I felt when I laughed out loud upon discovering the fight is easier on merciless was almost joker levels. That said I'm here as a new member of the Post Okumura Trauma Centre.
I find that hard to believe. After 7 hours you didn't save once? Either your brain dead or have a smooth brain to pull that off, I would have believed you if you said 1 hour even 2 hours but 7 is a fairy tale
I honestly thought this was just me being too dumb and missing something crucial for this fight. Thank Gods someone else feels the same that this fight was terrible.
The thing about that phase of the boss fight is that everyone seems to go about it wrong. An easy way to beat it is to start the chain with anyone but joker or haru like makoto for example. Use psy/curse items to pass from makoto and team member 2 to joker/haru. The strat i used was makoto, ann, joker, haru. On harus turn, she has a full baton pass, and she has an aoe attack with one enemy still standing. So she can get two aoes off in a row, doing the most damage possible if joker doesn’t have a heavy hitting psy or curse attack.
that's exactly what i did and this shit was a breeze, but i guess people just looke at items and thought "well i have skills that scale with MA, why would i need items that do flat damage" Like the items are so obviously not designed for damage but rather to set things up for strong baton passes
David Prater This is going to sound very antagonistic but, the game isn’t just about spamming abilities, it’s also about preparation and optimization, the items can easily be crafted and bought especially by Okumura’s palace, confidents can easily be maxed by this point and personas can be built that extend your ability to set up combos. This palace (especially the boss) tests your preparation and understanding of the game (hell even Morgana tells you to better prepare if you try to use items in safe rooms if you don’t have any)
@@iceboundsatyr5108 If a fight has you doing something you never needed to do before, or after, that's bad design. Like I said elsewhere, if this was a superboss, this would be expected but it's not. This is something that's mandatory.
I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who struggled with this fight. Its a shame as I thought the Palace it's self was a good improvement over the original plus I liked the addition of shadow haru but the I just don't understand the changes to the boss fight. I get they wanted to make it more difficult but they really fucked it with the robot run away mechanic in combination with the lack of all out attack. I feel if we either had access to the all out attack or they didn't run off I don't think the fight would be any where near as bad
I had never went through his whole timer before, after finally beating Okumura by setting it to merciless, I was upset and amazed that Okumura's fight somehow got WORSE
I'm genuinely suprised no ones been talking about how much worse they somehow made okumuras fight worse. It litterally took me an hour of trial and error on normal difficulty
It took me like 4 or 5 tries (all costing most of the half hour I'm given in each) to get through this on Normal difficulty, but what I think I ended up doing (with my personal team choice of Makoto, Haru, and Ryuji, Ryuji being max baton and I think Makoto was too) involved Haru and protag using psi skills from their Personas and Makoto and/or Ryuji switching between recovery items, Psi bombs, and status inflictions to set up for possible technical attacks. I wouldn't use a Mapsio until only one robot stood up to where I could knock that one down AND add extra damage to the already-downed robots, and either hitting it with a baton-boosted Gun attack from Haru, or Ryuji with a Swift Strike (if any of them happen to be shocked in the exchange, which the chances of that were also boosted from Makoto's godly presence) .... or something like that, it's hard to recall. I was somewhere between unyielding rage and blackout-intense focus, so it's tough to remember how it went down in the end. I think whatever I did, I was still extremely lucky and went to bed right after I was done to sleep my struggles and sorrows away
I've been playing jrpgs for 20 years and this was the most awful experience I've ever had. So frustrating for all of the reasons you've mentioned here. I was even playing on Easy because I knew how long this game was and didn't want to get too stressed out, but turns out lower difficulty setting makes this somehow harder? So thankful I'll never have to do it again.
Am I the only one who didn’t have too much trouble on this boss? Yeah, the green guys were annoying, but I beat them in 2 turns, as opposed to only one like every other wave. Yeah it’s a boring fight (enemy rushes are not bosses) but as long as you have a way to revive, it’s not as hard as everyone says. I also had no idea the robots ran away. The more you know, I guess. SPOILERS But yeah, I think the final boss did Baton Pass way better for it’s gimmick. Plus, the targets can get extra weaknesses randomly,(?) so team members can attacks targets they can’t attack normally.
You must have been FAR overleveled then, because at level 45 or so which is about average for this fight, it's definitely impossible to kill them in 3 turns, let alone 2. You need atleast 2 turns to buff and debuff anyway
I had a bit of a hard time, game over once, went to fuse up some stuff, murdered the fight with smart use of Buffs/Debuffs. People just suck at Okumura.
@@adachicabbage3847 nah sorry bruh but you dont have to hella buff and debuff just let futaba do that shit, i was only 41 and the fight was ez by using items and baton passes as well as confidants
I literally finished p5r today. I remember fighting Okumura's green cancerous minions and I was raging. And not being able to do the All-out-attack was irritating. This was probably the most frustrating boss fight. I loved everything expect this boss.
Hey, just came back after doing the Okumura fight in Royal: It's not that bad. In fact, I would say it is a good example of how much of a crutch the all-out attack is for the player. You should be making use of the baton pass system, using the attack items for the other party members, you most definitely have them if you haven't spent them already, even without making some more with Morgana. You didn't prepare at all for Okumura's boss fight. You're just mad. I came in with a plan and did it pretty easily, I was level 43 used a baton pass combo from 1 to 4 to get through it. It is pretty straightforward and challenging.
"I came in with a plan" That's part of the problem, honestly. You shouldn't be REQUIRED to look up the boss or lose to it a couple of times in order to actually beat it. Good boss designs allow you to make a few mistakes and then adjust your strategy mid-battle. If you happen to not have attack items, which is something NOBODY uses, you're just fucked. THAT is horrible design.
@@Ausar0 I mean, in the video, he sites two other hard bosses that required him to come up with a plan and build a specific team to beat it, and apparently, that qualifies as "good boss design". Like, you do realize a core part of the gameplay loop in a lot of other game's boss design is mastery by repeatedly trying to beat them AND losing. Dark Souls, Devil May Cry, and so on all do this and they are beloved for it. Bad design comes from dominant strategies, such as weakness span and all-out attacks, that result in players not engaging other, valuable game mechanics, like baton pass and attack items. Hell, another strategy to go down could be a status ailment/technical combo team, since technical attacks have also been revamped in Royal. Royal encourages players to fail and try again since they can literally just start the fight over at the beginning immediately after death with no penalty. Also "If you happen to not have attack items, which is something NOBODY uses, you're just fucked" if you haven't been using attack items, then you definitely have enough of them, since you acquire plenty from just naturally playing through the game.
@@Ausar0 if it helped after Okumura I was definitely stacking up on attack items now. They're pretty useful at times just for getting to AOA without using your weaker Personas.
@@Ausar0 "Good boss design" Really you people need to at least play one mainline SMT game or any spin off that isn't Persona 3, 4 and 5. One of the point of bosses in SMT games is to punish people who takes the game mechanics for granted. I finished off this fight in one try without ever relying on rng or even merciless mode (on normal mode btw) and it was a breeze.
@@nickkuroshi0 I had 3 psy magatamas at this point. That was it. I could only effectively get max baton pass against the green ones once. I actually wouldn't mind this as much if it was a normal SMT game because your time isn't limited there. You can safely go back and prepare for as long as you want. Persona has the time pressure though. You don't have unlimited time to grind items and stuff. Not without sacrificing valuable social link time. Also, how does this boss not have a single dominant strategy? Assuming you're not overleveled, the only conceivable way to win is to have Haru in your party and use psy attack items. I would love to see someone do it without those two things. It wouldn't happen.
at the very least, Morgana not forcing you to sleep has made maxing stats and confidants much easier
I maxed all confidants on my first playthrough and I'm normally bad at managing my time the game is way too generous now.
I didnt realize how maxing confidants had an impact on the end game scenes, and only focused on maxing it out on my waifus, even going on to hanging out with them after alr maxed out lmao. Gonna play P5R with a new mindset.
@@genericgoat1475 focus on the fortune confidant as soon as possible, her affinity reading ability is now a rank 5 ability instead of 7.
At the very least? Royal has improvements across the board, with running outside, fusion alarms, auto text, even adding a phone call at most confidant ranks to have it level faster.

I refuse to believe that Okumura's boss fight was tested before implemented, it's an insanely hard fight for no reason other than bad design
Or you need to have dlc 99 personas, and still then it knows how to be difficult

Same! That was Haru herself who told to do that, damn Haru!

This was the 1st boss i actually "failed".

I basically beat him in 10 rounds with only MC surviving because the last robot put im in "Hunger " und "Heal" purgatory, lol-
Literally all I did was go back a day, and then splatter kill a bunch of underleveled personas in mementos for like 20 minutes to gain about 4 levels (and bought items to buff attack from Jose) and beat him in 2 tries after. Compared to the ridiculous amount of grinding you'd have to do in P3 at times, this is nothing. This boss is a bit frustrating admittedly, but it's really not that big of a deal
I hit it was a super buffed arsene, I made him a gun build
OSK, Riot gun and gun amp, gun boost apt pupil.
1 shot first wave, 1 bottle second wave, almost 1 shot 3rd wave, and ripped last wave in seconds
Same here. What I think really helped me was that Hifumi ability of switch party members in their own turns. And since I already lost the first fight also knew the order of their weaknesses.
My persona was level 51 and I still didn’t beat him also I was at level 44 and I still can’t beat him :(
I genuinely wish Akechi would've saved us all the tears and just finished Okumura off at the start.
Of memory serves right you weren't able to all out during this fight in P5O so him commenting on it makes no sense

Every single robot has no resistance togun damage.
I basically used items to increase baton pass for my other allies then a mapsio from haru ending with a double mapsio from joker
I basically grinded up an 99 all stat Arsene and nuked it with a gun build
I didnt know about the boss change, but when under merciless, with the right buffs(speed master and attack master) a good build destroys it
Also utilizing the hell out of itemization can get multiple great items like an psi attack st item for a person, or yuske with a +12 str item by the 3rd palace, which thanks to the double stat glitch, is +24 strength early game
Tech damage destroyed them also, things that were not put in the non royal, the game isn't easily done without it
deathblade32 how do you make an arsene like that ?
Icematt12 yeah but guns do little to no damage

I completely agree with you that the whole Okumura arc was the weakest in the entire game. I didn’t really enjoy it in P5 or P5R so I’m glad I finally got it over with the other day
I'm glad they nerfed the Palace tho. It was way fun to go through it imo.
did they change Shido's palace to not be a boring and frustrating mess?
@@GiordanDiodato The rat sections are less tedious and way shorter, and it feels more streamlined, and I liked the will seed placements so I think so.

Yeah, I know I’m just repeating what was in the video, but I really needed to vent how badly designed Royal made this fight.
you thing yamato was bad after 2 attempts i went fuck it and spawned in messieah picaro
seeing as how they vastly improved the madarame fight, I was really hoping they'd improve this one but instead they did the opposite. Sucks cause i'm about to start his palace soon too
Getting Strength Arcana to Lvl5 by them is easy as all hell though, I think I had them at lvl 10 by then not sure, but easily 5.
I was level 44 or 45 when I beat him on hard mode. This fight was just using baton pass to the max and swapping members.
You clearly didn't see how much Ryuji's confidant breaks Mementos requests then(put that along with more items from Jose and you'll have everything you'd ever need and levels to back it up, along with special treatment at level 5 if being op is your way of going about things)

You know this fight is broken when I couldn't beat it on hard, but absolutely steamrolled it when I ramped it up to merciless.
merciless triples the damage for critical, weak and technical for both foes and you along with ur allies
It’s crazy how easy this fight becomes on merciless
Enemy defence is greatly lowered
Attack is upped insanely
Beat it on my like 2nd try
After losing to it a million times on normal and easy
Yeah, bit of weird game design where the boss is easiest on the supposedly hardest difficulty. I beat it on hard, but took ages.
yea it's so much easier on merciless, you just gotta make sure not to get crit, technical or weak attacked by the enemies or it will like insta kill you

I refuse to believe the same writers for easily the best palace in the game (sae nijima) wrote Okumuras palace
My theory is all the effort for the space port of greed went into the casino of envy

Level is not as important as having the right teammates and personas. Granted, this fight in particular also requires at least a few psy and wind items to make it doable, which is not something you can get on the spot.

The only battles worse are those where you spend resources only to be wiped out because of story reasons.....At least in my oppinion.
A lot like The Hollow Forest From P4G which I hated.
It only happens twice, the boss inside Futaba's palace (who kinda sucks btw) and the Holy Grail (Atleast Yaldabaoth is slightly better).
It could be worse honestly.
Then you have players (like me) who never use items for God knows why
I kid you not I probably have enough attack items to kill Yaldabaoth with those by themselves
Evan DeVore lmfao saaaame I just hate using non-reusable stuff up
Evan DeVore lol same. It’s definitely a common theme around Rpg players with resource management. It’s a semi-needless habit that validates our worries that we’ll run into something horribly tough later with 12 unexpected battle phases.
Now I understand why people were complaining about Okumura's Boss in Royal on Persona Community. I think it's time to prepare for this battle
You've really done something wrong when the boss is easier to beat on Merciless then on Hard.
I have failed it numerous times on hard and wasted around an hour or two on him just to beat him first try on Merciless.

With that aside, I think making a joke about an important turning point in the story while discussing a fight before that turning point shouldn’t have even made it into this video.

They teach you baton passing very early and even tell you how to raise its effectiveness playing darts and pool.
Okay, this guy forced me to turn the difficulty to Safe my first time, and I hated him for the longest time. But recently, I started another playthrough, and I did some things differently. This time, I FUCKED HIS SHIT UP on my first try. Here's how I did it:
TL;DR: Abuse the hell out of Baton Pass, use elemental items to aid in that, keep tabs on your party's condition at all times, make sure you have appropriate Personas and abilities, max out Baton Pass ranks beforehand, and make sure you can survive the biggest threats.
I really don't understand how people had a hard time with the boss. It's really easy just use god damn elemental items and batton pass.
ArcVaranus exactly, you just need to exploit their weaknesses
What I hate the most is that the special battles in the velvet room PROVE that they could do this fight better
@@alanlight2715 ok alan
This boss made me fear for what they did to the later bosses in the game. Like how is anybody supposed to know you have to stock up those items that deal Psy damage ahead of time?
Okumura is pretty much the only boss they made worse. The rest of them are just fine
Or you could I don’t know maybe bring a persona with psy attacks🤷♀️ maybe swap Haru in 🤷♀️ I beat the fight without psy bombs so either I’m a genius or maybe your way of thinking is too narrow.
I did it with Triple Down + Gun Amp or Boost don't remember.
Have you never played a fucking megami tensei game, fuse something with psi attacks you brainless animal.
Was playing on Merciless, found this fight pretty easy with Morgana, Haru, and Ryuji. Much easier than my Okumura fight on normal in regular P5.
This line up is elite for this boss fight
I’ve heard about how harrowing Okumura’s palace and fight is, so I’m definitely dreading for when I eventually reach it...
@@hithere5553 Oh really? I actually enjoyed the Palace (with airlock section) waaaay more than og.
@@Elsuya_Milo It's a lot easier in Royal. That's why I didn't hate it as much. I still didn't like doing it.
I never felt this because I made the mistake of doing a solo merciless run. Him and Wakaba were actually the only bosses I didn’t spend hours on.
Heaven forbid if you went into this fight without any psy damage items to get a maxed out baton pass
How is a twist being telegraphed bad? I’d rather that than it coming out of nowhere and making no sense.
Rage quitted the boss fight and then realised I didn't save for 7 hours fml
I find that hard to believe. After 7 hours you didn't save once? Either your brain dead or have a smooth brain to pull that off, I would have believed you if you said 1 hour even 2 hours but 7 is a fairy tale
@The FunSociety bruh the answer is ez, the blind rage messed his brain up, making him forget to save
So she can get two aoes off in a row, doing the most damage possible if joker doesn’t have a heavy hitting psy or curse attack.
that's exactly what i did and this shit was a breeze, but i guess people just looke at items and thought "well i have skills that scale with MA, why would i need items that do flat damage"
Like the items are so obviously not designed for damage but rather to set things up for strong baton passes
I mean yeah, but it's still a shitty boss fight. I did the same thing (just not with Ann in the mix) but it was still a bitch.
@@iceboundsatyr5108 So what do you say to those who don't have these items?
I was able to beat this fight on easy with 1min left. I’ve never wanted to uninstall a game this badly before
I thought i was stuck in a loop because i destroyed at least 40 waves of theses f* green guys
Bro, you saved me additional headaches with this video. Thanks!
I wouldn't use a Mapsio until only one robot stood up to where I could knock that one down AND add extra damage to the already-downed robots, and either hitting it with a baton-boosted Gun attack from Haru, or Ryuji with a Swift Strike (if any of them happen to be shocked in the exchange, which the chances of that were also boosted from Makoto's godly presence)
.... or something like that, it's hard to recall. I was somewhere between unyielding rage and blackout-intense focus, so it's tough to remember how it went down in the end. I think whatever I did, I was still extremely lucky and went to bed right after I was done to sleep my struggles and sorrows away
Imagne only having a level 22 Jack frost w/ Garula to deal with the green guys. (my only wind skill)
SPOILERS
But yeah, I think the final boss did Baton Pass way better for it’s gimmick.
The Arch I didn’t have any trouble either.
I wasn’t overleveled but I had played darts with everyone except haru.
I had a bit of a hard time, game over once, went to fuse up some stuff, murdered the fight with smart use of Buffs/Debuffs.
People just suck at Okumura.
for real this shit was ez
"I came in with a plan"
That's part of the problem, honestly.
@@Ausar0 "Good boss design"
Really you people need to at least play one mainline SMT game or any spin off that isn't Persona 3, 4 and 5.
One of the point of bosses in SMT games is to punish people who takes the game mechanics for granted. I finished off this fight in one try without ever relying on rng or even merciless mode (on normal mode btw) and it was a breeze.
@@nickkuroshi0
I had 3 psy magatamas at this point.
