I enjoyed your interview with Pagan Scholar (heard his channel mentioned so many times but never sub until now), and I am looking forward to your interview with Jacqueline Dubois whose vlogs I have been following for about 3 years now. She was one of those first channels I found when I first started seeking. Thanks for this comparison. I can see why the Greenwood has such a following, but I can also see why the Wildwood is a very very good take on its spirit. Thanks for sharing!
I think you transposed Justice and Strength in your comparisons, which is a classic renumbering to get Leo and Libra in position (or not). Justice is the Stag, Fortitude/Strength/Lust is the cat person, a Puma in the Greenwood, the lynx wearing Woodward in the Wildwood. Great to see these side by side though - I love the Greenwood but each has its virtues. I think I prefer the Court Cards in the Wildwood (although I miss that woodpecker!).
Interesting talk! Thanks! I am a happy owner of the Greenwood deck. When it was published, I had been watching for a few years for a deck that I clicked with. This was the one! I am parting with many possessions right now and am considering selling them - I might regret it later - but it feels like the right thing to do. That deck has an amazing warmth to it!
Thanks for making this video! I love the greenwood art so much, it has this happiness that I don’t see in other tarot decks, but it’s so expensive that I’m intrigued by the wildwood. I kind of see a William Blake influence in the greenwood art, especially The Fool (looks like Albion) and The Blasted Oak.
One of the differences that I find between the decks is that the Wildwood is more grounded in the physical world (they are much more literal) in the way the artist has drawn them. I prefer the warmth and ambiguity of the Greenwood.
I just ordered Wildwood from Amazon that advertised 2003 version but shipped me 2011 version. Is there a 2003 deck version before 2011 for Wildwood? I tried to do a search but it is conflicting. BTW the Greenwood deck is way out of my price range LOL a $100 would be, but $1300.00 something is definitely is.
Really depends on what you like. I have a lot of decks that I've reviewed here. My go=to is to start with the Rider-Waite-Smith and a deck you are drawn to. Many don't sync with the RWS but it is the deck most lessons are based on.
The Wildwood Tarot has made sure to remove any diversity from the deck. The Greenwood tarot have people of color throughout the deck and feels very inclusive, honoring the mystical within various cultures. The Wildwood Tarot doesn't. It's a striking difference I'm surprised you didn't mention.
Well since I didn't mention it, I didn't notice it. That points to my own white privilege and is something I'm working on. Thanks for being so kind to point it out.
Serenity Jewel And she mentions repeatedly the Egyptian/Celtic dichotomy of the decks. Perhaps your mind was preoccupied with social justice and not the shared human spirit during your viewing of this video. Osiyo.
I do not believe that skin color is irrelevant. Not at all. It's more relevant now than ever before and will remain so as long as people make judgments based on skin color. I can walk into a store and not be followed. My POC friends cannot.
Arwen oh well. Sucks. Shouldnt really matter if you're woke and dgaf. Its current year. If you are bothered look within and find what is causing you to hurt simply because you perceive others as treating you differently by following you around a store you are not stealing from. You should instead revel in the fact you have garnered an audience simply by being you. Then you can use the opportunity to shine some of your light infront of your audience, however small it may be. Hopefully they will beable to use some of it to illuminate the darkness within themselves.
Thank you for this, very helpful! Personally don't like the Greenwood. Artwork doesn't appeal to me and like you say, deviates from Celtic/Pagan much more. Just that one card JOY that has the Triskele. A shame that isn't in the Joy of Wildwood Tarot.
I love working with the energy of the Wildwood deck

I've had the Wildwood on my wish list for quite some time, it's nice to see it more up close. Thanks for sharing!
I would love to see a video talking about the Lumina, and/or the Wild Unknowns.
What a lovely comparison between two amazing decks.
I liked seeing some of the Greenwood, interesting comparison!

Loved this. Thanks for doing the side-by-side! I enjoy the hell out of my wildwood. :)

The Wren is also In the Wildwood just as the Page of Arrows
The Stag in Wildwood is Justice. Woodward is Strength.
Thanks! Did I get them wrong? Whoops! I appreciate the information, Meredith.
Thank you for the great review :)
Did you sell your Greenwood Deck?

Arwen Lynch I believe you didnt notice because skin color is irrelevant (its current year right? Lol) Confused white owl is confused.
