Sodium, potassium, PTH and phosphorus are labs that can give you an idea. If the kidneys are not working well but there is not advance kidney disease the body will compensate, the labs would look good. Symptoms of CKD are feeling tired, puffy eyes and lower back pain, however most of the times people ignore or do not have any symptoms.

I'm worried - I have continually higher Creatinine levels, around 120 and eGFR of 57 - my doctor is not overly concerned!! For the past 3 years, my eGFR levels have been 60.4, 63.8 and recently 57.2. My Creatinine levels have stayed pretty consistent at 120 - 140. Now, I weight train and have a fair amount of muscle mass (according to other people, I don't think I have), so could my eGFR levels be underestimated because of my higher Creatinine levels? All my other levels are within range. I do eat about 200g protein per day, 1g for 1lb of bodyweight. Surely, if I had Kidney damage my numbers from 2018, till now would have steadily decreased over time? I know I need a better way of testing that leaves out elevated levels of Creatinine.

@@nicksardo3105 Hey Nick, hope you're feeling well. It's good your GRF has gone up. I had my last test, it went from 57 to 61, I still asked to see a specialist.
When I saw the specalists, he basically laughed and said "You are very muscular, you have nothing to worry about, forget the numbers!". I was like, wtf - all I want is an accurate test, so I can adjust my lifestyle if my readings/Kidneys are not working great. Reduce protein, not workout so hard etc.. So I have a phone call setup, in a few weeks, with some from his department who may be able to do a test that by-asses the Creatinine.
Its been a hard slog though - it gives me the hump, soon as people see that I'm fairly muscular (nothing big in anyway), they automatically assume its anxiety and there is nothing to worry about. o.0

My blood test results said my creatinine was on the high side (1.23), the normal range said .67 to 1.17, however, I read that normal for adult males is up to 1.30. Also my GFR read >60 is this healthy? About an hour before the test, I drank a pre-workout and worked out for an hour. I know your supposed to fast before a test, but the test was done randomly at my Dr. Visit. Can doing these things cause an inaccurate result? Other thsn creatinine serum levels everything else is in the normal range. I live a healthy lifestyle, gym 6 days per week, pretty healthy diet in addition to taking daily vitamins (fish oil, vitamin d, vitamin b complex, milk thistle and a lot of water. Also, 2 days prior to the test, I had a horrible stomach bug and threw up a lot and hard. Should I be worried with these results?

If you are 30 and have a gfr under 60,that is concerning. I am going through the process for live kidney donation,if your gfr is under 60,at any age you would not be able to donate your kidney. My age is 65,just got recent gfr results, it was 71.Ideally over 90,they would love. But 61-89 is intermediate level and they will weigh all factors moving forward, like age.Good luck, and good health.
