Playing this game as Knuckles is hard as hell man especially with the final boss since he can't jump as high like Sonic or Tails. I managed to beat the final boss as Knuckles and yeah I died many times on that fight. The only good thing about Sonic 2 Knuckles version is that you can obtain the Chaos Emeralds easily because the requirement of collect the rings has been reduced and not only that your rings are retained after exiting the Chaos Emerald stages. In the original game (with Sonic and Tails) you lose all of your rings after leaving the Chaos Emerald stages.
The 'lock on' feature was a life saver to me as a kid. After finding getting those bloody emeralds such a chore with the new 'not losing rings' feature Knuckles had I could pretty much get them all just in Emerald Hill zone! :D
It's difficult, but what's harder is playing as Amy Rose on Sonic 2. She can't attack enemies by jumping on them. You have to use her Hammer for everything. That's the real hell.
Oh, also here's an extra tip for the final boss. When the Robot lands, make sure you are standing at the spot where he is over your head. Then jump up and hit him the underside. Works for me everytime.

When you go into a checkpoint special stage in Sonic and Knuckles and in Sonic 3 you do not lose your rings and Knuckles in Sonic 2 uses that function for the special stages here because the game is registering Knuckles as a Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles character and not a Sonic 2 character. It's an oversight the developers didn't see.
Simpleton Apollo well I just finished the game with knuckles and the rings did reset but I played the mobile remastered version. So that might explain why
I bet Dust Hill Zone is where the Mirage Saloon idea came from. It would be nice to have a PS4 version of this game with all the levels 2gether in one game

I didn't realize this was an emulator at first. It was like a jump scare when Wood Zone popped up. Lol Wood Zone definitely had the best reuse of a boss since it was a bit different than the original with the pit in the middle and changed color scheme. I didn't care for the haunted house theme of Genocide City. When I first heard the title, years ago, I pictured it having more of Scrap Brain Zone Act 1 theme. I pictured a burning destroyed city, not a "spooky" level. I liked the Wood, Dust Hill, and Hidden Palace additions, but I thought the Death Egg was completely pointless. Also, I'm really glad you didn't go Super Knuckles in Hidden Palace. I love that music! It's probably my 3rd favorite Sonic music after Ice Cap and Starlight.

Pues así es. Esto era posible gracias a los niveles secretos del Sonic Knuckles, desbloqueaba niveles más largos y ocultos. Tambien solía ensamblarlo con el Sonic 1 para jugar a los bonus 3D y practicar para conseguir todas las esmeraldas en los bonus 3D del Sonic & Knuckles. Una pasada de tecnología que sólo la llevó a cabo SEGA y el Sonic Team ;)
Sonic 2 & Knuckles really sucks. In the Death Egg level, after you beat the Sonic robot (which is the easiest boss, by the way), you will have trouble beating Eggman's mech with Knuckles! And why? Because Knuckles does not jump really high like Sonic does because Knuckles's legs are stubby and he will easily get killed by Eggman's mech! I prefer Sonic 3 & Knuckles over this shit.

This is the worst reason I ever heard of S3&K being better than Knuckles in Sonic 2 yet. For Sonic and Tails, I attack the mecha robot when Eggman flies up and tries to crush them and attack again when Eggman lands because he's crouching. I finished it with Knuckles once but it was hard as hell. I mostly attacked Eggman when he tries to crush Knuckles after crash landing. My older brother never beated this game as Knuckles because of the fact that Knuckles can't jump that high. He's been good at Sonic games and most games when we were little. :\

Try rollling on the ground at the spot where he is about to land. That causes Knuckles to attack and damage Metal Sonic.
