Interesting fact: after JWG death all his painting were auctioned off and at the action one man bought ALL of them, people were disgusted because they couldn’t believe this man would spend this much on an evil man. However it turned out after the action the man contacted all the victims families and invited them to come watch as they burned the painting and that he had bought all the painting so no one else could keep them for the notary. It’s because he targeted boys who worked for him - they probably had a sense of trust because he was their boss and he seemed like this upstanding likable man in the community.
An evil man who was an abused and mistreated child. He wasn't born like this...it doesn't excuse his monstrous crimes it just sheds a light on the monster behind the makeup.

it's so good that you acknowledge and say the names of every single one of his victims. most true crime channels just say, "five murders here, three murders there" but you tell the story of each and every one, which is so important. most of the time, the killers get all the fame and the victims get lost in the dust
This dude was sick. I just can't even begin to comprehend what his victims suffered through in their last moments of life. I truly pray they are in a much better place. No one deserves that.
Yes, honestly he’s one of the absolute worst I’ve ever heard of and I’ve watched a lot of stories like this and read quite a bit too. There’s different levels of evil and he’s at the highest notch you can get. Right there beside people like Hitler.
Yes but honestly John just had a lot of head issues. I feel for him. Obviously doesn’t give him rights to kill or be the way he was. But his parents had a big part in his issues. It’s so sad.

I recently learned that my close friends uncle was murdered by gacy and her mother is so traumatized :( I remember she mentioned something about her uncle passing away but didn’t tell me any of the details, I always assumed it was because of illness until we sat down to watch season 4 of American Horror Story “freak show” where the clown character twisty is loosely based off of Gacy and she made us turn it off. Her uncles best friend also suffered immensely from the trauma and fell into substance abuse, it has completely taken over his life...so heartbreaking for the victims and their families I can’t imagine their pain
Activist. Ya I am so sure what you say is so true. I live how so many people come on here and " CLAIM" that someone they know. Or how there father was "almost " a victim. Or how their father's friend was a " victim " of John gacey. It is so pathetic. What are you just needing some attention or something. Then go get the attention from your friends and family. And stop using this story to get the attention that you are seeking
My sophomore history teacher told our class that he and his friend were trying to hitch a ride after a concert in Chicago back in the 70s and that Gacy picked them up. Him and his friend sensed that something was wrong and that the guy was being really creepy and they managed to get out of the car before anything happened. Year later my teacher saw a reporting of John Wayne Gacy on the tv news and realized that he was the one that picked them up...
oh yeah i’ve heard of that story and i could be wrong but i’m pretty sure that’s what also led to gacy taking the handles of his car so no one else would escape
Holy shit! I read a stat that said that each of us with come into contact with AT LEAST one serial killer in our lifetimes. There are that many active one out there. But man did you teacher do the right thing by trusting his instincts!!
It’s literally the same thing every time, terrible criminals get charged with a sex crime and then RELEASED. Big shock they start it up again and start killing. Wonder if the justice system will ever figure this out.
One of the considerations for sentencing is how likely the perpetrator is to reoffend, right? It's baffling that child rapists, who are among the most likely to reoffend, are so often given light sentences and released back into society.
If it’s charges against sex crimes I don’t think every person is released and they go on a killing spree But the fact that there are reports of MORE sex crimes after their release and the fact that police officers ignore/don’t fully look into the possibility that they have committed more sex crimes it’s just fkn crazy to me
Yeah German Police is worse. A guy followed me at night. Attacked me. After That he followed a woman to the toilet, Tried to Grab her. Police allowed him to still be free. After Showing his P to women in a public toilet he had to Go to a mental Institution for ONE year

Smart woman, your Mom! Having worked in the Parole System I can say that the most successful pedophiles are 'nice', charming, kind and often warm people... and often are attractive🤮. Also younger then what is stereotyped! People still have this view of pedophiles being old creepy men, who are strangers. When the opposite if the case!! Yup! I agree with your Mom. Maybe it's because I'm a naturally weary person...or maybe it's because I've watched/read/listened to so much serial killer stuff, but I'm actually more put off by the "overly friendly" ones. My guard automatically goes up and my first thought is "what are you hiding?" when I come across people like that. Sometimes that's just a person's personality, yes. But in my experience, the ones that are too friendly....too nice, always have something dark hiding just underneath all of that. Usually it's the weirdos with an outwardly bad attitude that "look" like murders that I get along with the best, lol. They end up being the most genuine because they have nothing to hide by "playing a part."
@@c.r.t1586 No one knows what is going on inside people's homes. Just because something "looks perfect" does not mean it is. Also, children are far more sensitive and their subconscious minds absorb everything without a filter, meaning that what adults might think is a small harmless incident, can be traumatic to a child. Then there's a whole other aspect to this, which is past life traumas that are still stored in the soul's consciousness. That of course is not included in the studies and research because humans still commonly reject the spiritual side of life.

Of course, nothing excuses his crimes and he had no right to do that but his later life aside, belittling what he went through as a kid is a bit insensitive.
My dad was once telling me some stories from when he was a kid and the friends he had, etc. He told me that he had one friend that one day just disappeared and he never knew what ever happened to him. The dark joke amongst his friends was that "Gacy got him", that he and his little friends were just being little shits and that they never really thought that. It was just a twisted joke to make themselves not so scared. Shockingly, vaguely roughly around 2015, news broke that by using similar DNA samples, a relative came up as a match for an until now unidentified set of remains from John Wayne Gacy's crime scene and that it was, indeed, that friend that went missing.
That guilt must’ve been intense. I think somethings jokes disguise peoples very real fears. Still wild that the police didn’t think to act at all towards these allegations, I mean if he didn’t confess would he really be caught?
Agreed. Ruin a life, give up yours. Who's really believing pedophiles get cured..? No one. They get better at hiding it, and more desperate to cover up.

So many reoffend after getting released back into the public, and it’s just not worth EVER taking the chance of giving them the opportunity to hurt someone else! This is not the type of thing that just goes away. Sure, some SO’s can reduce their urges with intensive therapy, but therapy will never cure someone of that level of pervasive sick sexual attraction and gratification, which will always make them a danger to the public.
Right! It shows a true disregard for humanity. Its not a sexuality its a sign that something went really wrong in their brain. These guys ALWAYS get off so easy
I empathize with his sister. It's okay for her to love her brother in spite of his horrific crimes. She's not defending him or forgiving him... but it's still her brother, you know? That has to be so difficult to sort through, emotionally.
Honestly it’s sick that he had been molested as a child and knew what it felt like and how horrible it was yet he did it to other boys knowing what he was doing and knowing what he was putting them through.
Yes, it's disturbing. I think the way JWG turned out had a lot to do with his childhood trauma and his psychology. In no way, it's an excuse whatsoever, because his actions were truly horrific and he deserved everything he got- but also, it's similar to the cycle of abuse- a child who is abused at a young age grows up and either continues to be the victim or asserts power by becoming the abuser- but JWG was a full on psycho, regardless. Plus, the cycle of abuse is no excuse for ANY of his actions in any way.
From what I know people who regularly faced sexual abuse early in their life, it is common to do the same thing. There are quite a few accounts of sexual offenders having experiences similar things in their childhood. I'm not saying that this is the reason he behaved this way, it just makes sense that it didn't deter him from it.

Some privileges, anyone with common sense knows that a person will be good in jail because they are watched.. The minute they get out they are back to their monsterous behaviors
There is another killer named Arthur Shawcross, and this statement is true of him as well. He murdered two children in the early 70's and was sentenced to 20+ years, he only served like 14, and then murdered a whole bunch of women in the late 80's early 90's. Also, when he got out of prison, he was unable to find a place to live so the police took it upon themselves to shield his file, which meant no one could see what he had done, not even other police departments. So, when the cops were investigating the murders, they were looking at everyone in the area with a criminal record, but they were blind when it came to the guy who actually did it. It pisses me off to no end.

One of the considerations for sentencing is how likely the perpetrator is to reoffend, right? It's baffling that child rapists, who are among the most likely to reoffend, are so often given light sentences and released back into society.
If it’s charges against sex crimes I don’t think every person is released and they go on a killing spree
But the fact that there are reports of MORE sex crimes after their release and the fact that police officers ignore/don’t fully look into the possibility that they have committed more sex crimes it’s just fkn crazy to me

My guard automatically goes up and my first thought is "what are you hiding?" when I come across people like that. Sometimes that's just a person's personality, yes.

Right, all I could think was, crawl space huh...seemed more like continuous space to me.
Crawl spaces are really small too, so he could’ve he stood and poured concrete and not just once?
Can you imAgine the stench coming through the floors

Literally looking through the comments for this one…
My thoughts exactly.
The police were grossly negligent w/ victim reports. It’s so disheartening.
I’m disgusted but far from surprised. Typical cop shit
Hi- I live in the town where this happened and this is all we are known for. Everyone here is linked to this somehow, everyone has a story about it. My fathers good friend was murdered. He can’t talk about it without crying. My grandpa was the one who tore down his house and saw the horrors of the basement. Please please please remember the victims and those forever involved, they’re not just statistics to us, because this is still affecting everyone in my town to this day. Please pin this comment or like it, I need their stories to be told, thank you.

Do you think that the fact you live in the town males you special? Or do you think that the fact your grandfather helped to tear down the house.( so you "claim this fact ".)
Or do you think that it makes you special that you saw his basement
( or so you "claim this fact as well.").
Well let me tell you.
NOTHING that you CLAIMED makes you special.
It makes you an attention seeker. That is all you are looking for. Clearly you don't get enough attention at home or from your friends and family. So you have to seek attention from strangers on RUclips.
HOW PATHETIC that makes you LMAO 🤣 😂 😆
That is why you begged her to pin your comment. And ask other people to like it. You JUST HAVE TO GET YOUR ATTENTION.
So so PATHETIC
Oh and of course you "claim that your fathers friend was murdered by John. Ya you just have to make your story so good that people are going to want ask you questions. There you go. Keep adding to your story. Make up more details as you go. I mean you probably add to your story every time you tell someone about it. Just to get thar attention that you so DESPERATELY are seeking. But it is sick that you have to make up this story and have to use this horrible story to get the attention that you are looking for
this case makes mo so angry due to the signs that gacy had, he sexually assaulted young boys years prior, the missing were employees of his, the missing were last seen with him as well. also, he was allowed to employ minors after his charge.
Okay are we gonna forget he convinced an underage boy to sleep with his wife. She had to of known SOMETHING
Wtf
exactly!!
Exactly! I never bought the idea that she knew nothing at all. A lot of women in these cases get away easy when I know they knew something or at least something was off.
Briar Rose yeah almost 0% thats the case. That would have made it into the story and it would have been said “and he convinced an underaged boy to rape his sleeping wife”.
@@Kyiecutie 0% she definitely knew more
i can’t believe that one of the victims reported it, and it was dismissed because John said it was “consensual”.Why would someone report something if it was consensual? And why is he coming in to young boys doing things like that?
I know!!! The system failed him and the many victims that followed. So sad. Especially considering the had already been in prison??!! For assaulting a minor. Did they not even look into his past. Honestly so disturbing.
Something similar happened with Jeffrey Dahmer too
Wouldn't be the first time, unfortunately. :(
This victim’s list... is just never over. The names just kept coming, this is terrifying.
I believe you naming the young men’s names was amazing. You acknowledged the victims. You’re an angel Kendall. You’re very talented with your reporting and very thorough.
If he was kept in prison for the ten-year sentence he got in 1969, most or all of his victims would be alive
Some privileges, anyone with common sense knows that a person will be good in jail because they are watched.. The minute they get out they are back to their monsterous behaviors
Butterfly effect?
There is another killer named Arthur Shawcross, and this statement is true of him as well. He murdered two children in the early 70's and was sentenced to 20+ years, he only served like 14, and then murdered a whole bunch of women in the late 80's early 90's. Also, when he got out of prison, he was unable to find a place to live so the police took it upon themselves to shield his file, which meant no one could see what he had done, not even other police departments. So, when the cops were investigating the murders, they were looking at everyone in the area with a criminal record, but they were blind when it came to the guy who actually did it. It pisses me off to no end.
Even though lots of people have covered John Wayne Gacy, I’m interested to see how you tell the story Kendall!
Edit: wow how big is that crawl space good god

this makes me so sad. the victims were so young, seeing their pictures and hearing about what they went through is heartbreaking.
R.I.P to his victims poor people. I hope they are in a better place and happy now
John's father was so terrible. I'm sorry that fathers like him exist.
It's a shame he reproduced, too. The monster son he made, visited a lot worse upon his victims than he ever got himself.
@ridhima jharwal You're so right. I'm proud of the person your husband is! It says a lot about his character that he can rise above this treatment by his father. It's so hard on males, who often look to their fathers for identity and approval.
I would bet money that John Stanley's dad was just as terrible. People from the 1800s and before were just so violent and savage. Reflections of the time they lived in but still no excuse.
@@breakfastattiffanys741 There are still violent and savage parents out there. Fortunately, there are more eyes on them, not allowing them to reek havoc on their children as easily, without consequence.
I think it's his fault all this happened
Poor Timothy, he was only making breakfast. So heart breaking.
How big is this crawl space?!?!? WOW 😮 I have never seen a huge space like that under a house.
I don’t understand how the physical space didn’t run out and the smell wasn’t overwhelming?!
I don’t understand why he’s known as the clown killer, it’s not like he lured them by being a clown it was just a thing he did sometimes it’s just for media attention
it's the dichotomy thats freaky. The idea that a man who dressed up as a clown for childrens birthday parties also murdered children. Teenagers, but children nonetheless
He would dress up while he killed them sometimes
@@taylortate8106 no he didn't.
You are WRONG! I have studied this killer and he did dress up as a clown and performed magic tricks at Birthday party's for children and scouted for victims! He also drove an ice cream truck while living in Rochester NY! He absolutely dressed up as a clown and looked for his victim's!!!

At least one smart guy then. I don't get how all those 15-16 and older boys, men even, let themselves be lured by this guy. With all due respect, I think some of them weren't really smart or really gullible. No way would I have trusted any creep at the age of 15 or older asking me to get in the car or come to his house. "Oh, and now that you're here, put one these cuffs, just for fun."
"Oh Sure!"
What?!

Within 5 years of Gacy's arrest began the daycare abuse hysteria and that's where the stranger danger stuff really took off.
The Amaranthine Man Remember that was the 70s-80s. There wasn’t as much awareness about murderers and stuff like that. Also, the fact that he was loved in jail despite him sexually assaulting a young boy tells me he was very manipulative and ‘fun’ to be around. An easy going personality gets you a lot.
"look at his mugshot, what a creep" HAHAHAHA omg i love her comments
My friends mom was his banker, she was the only one at the bank that wasn’t too scared of talking to him, everyone had a bad feeling. She was young 20’s and super headstrong and refused to admit how scary he was. But she said he was never anything but nice to her! It’s icky
that doesn't sound like headstrong that sounds like ignorant no offense meant at all, ignorant just means you're unaware of something and if ALL of her coworkers knew the dude was a creep except her then her intuation is wayyy off. or it might be a thing where bc she's a girl she was pressured to be "nice" to the creepy guy. either way that is beyond terrifying and shes lucky she never came across a straight serial killer she only survived bc she was a woman
@@patriciacurtis349 being headstrong usually means u dont care about intuition or count it as reason, u only see what u want to think, regardless of others, its common to ignore feelings bc "it doesnt make sense", with him being nice to her the logical thing would be nah hes fine
"Let's raise children who won't have to recover from their childhoods." Not saying that JWG is innocent because of his harsh upbringing, but I think that quote is very true and children with less traumatic childhoods would definitely make this world a better place.
What do you have to say about children growing up in a privileged lifestyle that commit serious crimes?
Dude my dads friend was killed by this guy and my dad almost was....he offered my dads friend construction work and the friend in turn asked my dad to come along too because he needed cash. My son's biological mother lived next door to John Wayne Gacy. She has some really interesting stories
I would love to hear those stories
I read something somewhere about a mother and a son who lived next to Gacy often hearing cries and screams late at night and him coming and going at late hours. Wonder if it is the same person? I always wondered why they never called the police though. I've also read most of his neighbors liked him and maybe that's why they never suspected him.
