Interesting fact: after JWG death all his painting were auctioned off and at the action one man bought ALL of them, people were disgusted because they couldn’t believe this man would spend this much on an evil man. However it turned out after the action the man contacted all the victims families and invited them to come watch as they burned the painting and that he had bought all the painting so no one else could keep them for the notary. It was just a twisted joke to make themselves not so scared.
Shockingly, vaguely roughly around 2015, news broke that by using similar DNA samples, a relative came up as a match for an until now unidentified set of remains from John Wayne Gacy's crime scene and that it was, indeed, that friend that went missing.

In no way, it's an excuse whatsoever, because his actions were truly horrific and he deserved everything he got- but also, it's similar to the cycle of abuse- a child who is abused at a young age grows up and either continues to be the victim or asserts power by becoming the abuser- but JWG was a full on psycho, regardless. Plus, the cycle of abuse is no excuse for ANY of his actions in any way.

There is another killer named Arthur Shawcross, and this statement is true of him as well. He murdered two children in the early 70's and was sentenced to 20+ years, he only served like 14, and then murdered a whole bunch of women in the late 80's early 90's. Also, when he got out of prison, he was unable to find a place to live so the police took it upon themselves to shield his file, which meant no one could see what he had done, not even other police departments. So, when the cops were investigating the murders, they were looking at everyone in the area with a criminal record, but they were blind when it came to the guy who actually did it. It pisses me off to no end.

At least one smart guy then. I don't get how all those 15-16 and older boys, men even, let themselves be lured by this guy. With all due respect, I think some of them weren't really smart or really gullible. No way would I have trusted any creep at the age of 15 or older asking me to get in the car or come to his house. I always wondered why they never called the police though. I've also read most of his neighbors liked him and maybe that's why they never suspected him.
