I'm thrilled to see your channel taking off! Phil, you wear out my wallet from time to time, but I absolutely LOVE your love and enthusiasm for all the great music that's been an essential part of our lives all these years! Especially your appreciation of all the high quality audio remasters. To me that's the very best part of it all!
Good morning from Western Australia Phil 😂 I am sitting here listening to UFOs Strangers in the Night box set . Just arrived this morning . As we say in Australia it is a bloody ripper , well us older fellas say that . Thanks for this recommendation Phil , it is a magical set , and a bargain at this price . Thank you Phil , have a magical day 😂❤
Agree with you 100% re 12th place Hawkwind Space Ritual, it was your enthusiasm that persuaded me to buy the full set so thanks again! Dust of Time is also another essential Hawkwind Box set IMO. You'll have to try and get an interview with Dave Brock.
EPIC Phil! You have stimulated my hand to wallet rellex several times so far. My favorite I knew nothing about so far is Feel The Heat by Nitrate! Keep up the great reviews!
Another great entry in the series! I love that there are different boxsets and collections for different types of fans - I'm personally hoping to grab a few of those collection/clamshell style boxes for artists that I know I want to try out and enjoy but don't own anything yet.
This is fast becoming one of my favorite channels! Phil, really love what you’re doing here. Especially breaking up your lists like this, it’s much easier to digest than to doing all these at once. At 3:02 you discuss Kirsty McColl’s box set, we too love the “book style” packaging and wish more artists would start packaging CD’s like this. Happy New Year and keep up the great work sir! 🎧
You have my wife Sue to thank for these being in bite size chunks. I actually recorded it originally as one huge video but for some reason the microphone did not work. I could not face doing the whole thing again and Sue suggested I did it as separate videos counting down 10 at a time. I’m very pleased as well with how this approach has worked. Phil :)
I'm DELIGHTED that one of my favourites, Kirsty MacColl's superb box set is in your top 20. I didn't think she'd stand a chance against all the heavy rock and prog (which I love, btw) but surprise, surprise, there she is at number 18!! Thanks Phil, fingers crossed my own top 2 box sets are in your top 10 👉🤞
Thank you so much for what you're doing on your channel, Phil. My wishlist is growing with every video (and I just ordered those Trapeze boxsets) 😅. Those Scorpions reissues look amazing too! Greetings from Italy!!
Box sets are great with the hardback books added BUT .... the (heavy) books are usually slightly smaller than the 12 inch discs, and so have a folded card (hollow) buffer all around. That's not really good enough as that card buffer gets mashed in transit. They should either make the book 12" square, or fill that hollow void with polystyrene to prevent the inevitable damage.
I've had the Scorpions Uli era lp's since the seventies and In Trance is my favorite, I am hearing that the scans for the new remasters are terrible and I can believe it as that seems to be the way they do it now as I experienced with the Stones sixties albums box set years ago, the lack of quality in the scans and the thin cardboard etc are a bummer and I am confused with todays technology why they cannot duplicate the albums properly . Cheers Phil. love your reviews.
Hi Robert, I have not seen any negativity myself although I’ll admit I tend to avoid looking for it. I am really pleased with the Scorpions vinyl reissues ( see my detailed reviews) and especially In Trance. If people are upset that the shading hides the models breast more than on the original then it was fairly obscure back then. The actual card is to my mind far superior and as for the sound, it’s amazing. If people want an original then eBay and Discogs are your friend. If you want a new pressing with fabulous sound then these new BMG releases are the way to go. The other thing to remember is physical media makes up about 15% of the music biz so these are also very short print runs.
I might pick up the first 3 reissues ( Rainbow, Trance, Virgin ) if the sound has been improved and can always insert the vinyl in the old jackets, back in 1980 I picked up a new copy of the original gatefold for Virgin Killer, nice to have although rather controversial cover art. Thanks.@@NowSpinningMagazine

Wishbone 👍⭐️
I like those BMG sets. I hope that there will be more. I want to see a box set of Kix, and some ATCO artists like Vanilla Fudge and Iron Butterfly
That would be fab!

Great you have positive views of box sets, others moan oh wished it had bla bla or i have got all this on cd etc or it's too expensive lol .
Others say oh i don't like live albums but buy box set for live tracks and still moan lol.
number one.... what will it be. I'll say the Mott The Hoople box set. To me it's better than the who's one by miles
