Thank you so much. I went to a river today and I saw more than 20 dead bofin on the bank. I was so disappointed because I personally think they’re super cool fish.
Thanks and yes, bowfishermen are my best guess as well. Damn shame. Bowfin are a fun fish to catch and interesting species. But for some, it’s just another thing to kill for fun.
I was told by a fisherman in VA that they have found some crossbreeding between the two. Not sure how factual that is, but that would be pretty cool. Tight lines 🤙🏽🎣
I'm ecstatic I've seen one bowfin caught in Florida using a chunk of meat and it was about two and a half feet long and I just caught my first Snakehead which is about 16 in
Earlier today, i had a big bowfin bite my jig in front of my face but I waited too long to hook set and it got away (would have been my first) (it was also in north FL, don’t know if that’s common or not)🥲🥲🥲
Man that’s rough brother lol. That’s the kind of memory that’ll stick with ya too. The ones I caught when I was down in Augusta, GA were some of the most aggressive fish I’ve caught. Once I saw them and put a lure in front of them, they ate it roughly 90% of the time. Never seen a fish since that was that aggressive.

@@Jacobthefisherman123 sad to see brother. It is a shame. Bowfin are one of the most underrated sportfish in existence.
People probably caught them and killed them because "they destroy the bass beds" it is so stupid
Awesome short! I’ve noticed more dead Bowfin along the banks of my fishing spot..im assuming uninformed anglers thinking they are snakeheads.

You can tell because of the way they are!
😂😂😂
Caught my first bowfin last night at about 11:00 on a jerk bait good fight to them
Congrats and they def pull like champs

That would be wild. I doing it given their genetic dissimilarity, but it would be very cool
Very much doubt it that would be some good Jurassic park material though
How can I prepare the bowfing
I haven’t actually eaten bowfin yet, so I’m not sure how good they are to eat.
Ty for making this video, love bowfin and hate that people make the mistake of misidentifying them and kill them
You’re welcome. Bowfin are a criminally underrated sportfish.
Wait are they the same?

Congrats on your first snakehead 👊
Wish we had more bowfin here in MD. Aggressive, hard fighting fish
thanks man out here in nc costal area they are fighters !
I wish we had more bowfin in md waters.
Me too bro. Very underrated fish.
Same here Jared, we've caught a few in the Rappahannock but Steve seems to be catching the Giants...as usual 😁💪
Awww shucks 😋🤪
All the old timers killed them cuz they weren’t pickerel lol
My dumb ahh thought u said Mountain Dew water😂
caught a bowfin off a whopper plopped in the st lawrence one time really strong fish
Shame they don’t get more respect as a sportfish. Hard fighters and aggressive fish.
Cant you also tell.them by there coloring and pattern
In most cases, yes. However, I have caught some snake head that are really more of a solid tan or light brown color, similar to Bowfin.
Thought they were invasive species?
Did you mean the Bowfin or the Snakehead?
The snakehead are invasive, bowfin are not and you should always release bowfin since they are a necessary predator in their ecosystems.

I think the snakeheads look like catfish without thw whiskers
Beautifull ❤
Yes they are!
I caught a bowfin yesterday .. I thought it was a Snakehead… it’s on my channel
Same I thought it was a catfish cause I’ve never seen either of them mine was ten pounds
Chill out bowfin, he's doing you a favor 😄
He wasn’t trying to hear it 😏
We call them mudfish
Heard “dogfish” too
Not the easiest way is to look at the head and colors
In most cases, and especially for experienced fishermen, I agree.
Both gorgeous toothy critters that I love catching... Well, one slightly more than the other. 😜
Lol same
I need to make a trip up there.
Yup, we gotta go bro. Beautiful water, not a crazy long drive, and a very unique range of fish to catch relative to MD waters.
Bowfin: American Snakehead 🤷🏻♂️
Wouldn’t help their image with a lot of folks 😂
@@KambotroutFishing Lol It is what it is. Just like you have the Asian Carps and European Carps.
