  • There's a lot of new Acronyms lately. PPP, EMPA, CARES etc. Most Stimulus checks from the CARES Act have already been direct deposited, but you can check the status of yours online with the IRS. In this video I discuss the NEW bill being proposed that includes $2,000 a month in stimulus checks (03:45), plus the Emergency Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Legislation (05:11) being discussed by Congress. In addition I share my thoughts on PPP Loans (01:25).

I would prefer to keep paying my mortgage during this time. I’d rather have the 2k/mo but it seems too good to be true. I haven’t received the first check yet. Thanks for this video!

Why not help citizens? We are the ones who hold the bag for all these bailouts of businesses and corporations. Think about it we would use the money to pay rent, mortgages so those businesses would survive. The money would pay bills utilities etc so those businesses would survive, etc etc. I am sick of bailing out businesses it’s time to help citizens even for a short time. It just makes sense.

It sounds good but nothing is free. I think the government will have to raise taxes eventually and the poor and the middle class will be the ones paying for it.

I think paying someone when they haven’t experienced financial hardship is foolish. Why not keep the funds on reserve in case unemployment becomes worse. Once that money is dispersed it becomes a liability for all of us for the long run. I certainly would continue to pay my mortgage.

Kimberly Kimberly . I understand the need to make some concessions but we need to be smart. IE: we should not give to those who don’t need it. We already contribute to the economy.
For our part we did with our stimulus as we normally do, give first, enjoy a little of it and save the rest. We started a new car fund. It is what we will do if there’s a second round but I hope this time they will opt to pay those that are hurting first. This isn’t free and will affect us all for years to come.
My friend is a claims processor at NH unemployment. Everyone is starting to receive $600 in addition to their normal benefit. In essence some folks will make more on unemployment than they do working until July. Folks are telling her that they aren’t going to go back to work even if they are called back since they will make more money. Employers calling asking how they should handle employee request to be laid off so they can draw unemployment and make more money. This is insanity. I could see paying folks what they normally make rather than the typical 60% but paying them more is ludicrous.
Let’s be responsible with the assistance. There’s no money tree!

Nothing in Life is "Free"! While it would be great to have some extra money, especially since I am on Disability, I still want to be able to afford to live when things have settled down. I hope the bill for the $2000 dosen't pass. As far as the free Rent/Mortgage, We rent and we recently received a letter from the owner that says NOT everyone will be eligible for free rent in her community. You will have to prove that you have NO income before she waves your rent!

Thanks for explaining those acronyms! I saved the $1200. I can see owing this in the future. I'm all for helping those who have lost their jobs. They really need the assistance. Free rent for me sounds like a bad idea. How will the maintenance and other support staff get paid? Do they go on unemployment? It seems like that one would cause a cycle of dependency on the government.

Military wife...government loves acronyms! You are correct that it can be a problem in communicating. I'm very concerned about that new bill (first one you mentioned) is setting us up to be dependent on the government long term rather than ourselves, particularly with evidence coming out that the infection rate is much higher than they thought which means the death rate is very close to a regular flu. The sooner we can go back to work, the sooner we can pay off this massive debt our government put on us as taxpayers. May you all be well!

So that is something to consider as well. 🤷 for us rent is at the top of our priority list before other people that may not because they might think they're safe during this time.

    $2,000 Monthly Stimulus Check Eligibility:
Americans aged 16 and older earning less $130,000 per year.
Married couples earning less than $260,000 would receive $4,000 per month.
Qualifying families would receive an additional $500 per child - for up to three children.
*Eligibility includes those who are unemployed or have no earnings.*
Eligibility would be extended to the recently unemployed who wouldn’t qualify under 2018 or 2019 tax returns, but whose income situation has changed in 2020.

We did not get the first stimulus check. I would be annoyed if we continue to pay people who are telecommuting now. Just add more to unemp!payment and give money for peopl!e who are Not working. Working peop!e do not need a stimulus.

Unemployment system has collapsed in Florida 94% as of April 20th, have not received their UI money for Florida or their federal supplemental payment as it is tied to the state unemployment approval. People cannot get a response, by computer, phone, or mail-in application. Many have been trying for weeks. Shameful incompetence!!
The PPP loan to business requires them to keep all employees on the payroll, it is in effect a stealth bailout of the state unemployment funds. Since most business will have to payback these “loans” due to some very minor compliance issue, they should not borrow to pay payroll. The employees (except high pay or management) will likely collect more on unemployment due to the federal supplement of $600 per week. Assuming they will get retroactive benefits to the date of layoff.
Unless they have received their stimulus, these claimants have received no money since their layoff. This is why people are in long lines for food pantry food. Help your neighbors or employees with food if you can. God bless you all.

I'll believe that $2,000 a month stimulus check is real when it actually happens. Canada did it but they have a government that cares about its citizens.
