The new ambient occlusion definitely brings environments and units to life. I still find that explosions look a bit dull compared to coh1 and coh2. Howitzer shells in coh1 looked particularly incredible. That dark earthy plume is etched in my brain forever 😊
4:31 compared to COH2, this 155mm feels like a 80mm (if even that) when it hits the ground 😅
good point. Effects and other elements really did lose their sense of scale or more so their weight. Like when a tank had to get moving. You felt the weight of that thing surging forward. Despite the gripes of pathing or responsiveness it certainly added a layer of immersion coh3 just falters by comparison.
nothing make sense in this game. like why is the archer larger than a valentine, its the same chassis. a humber armoured car is squishier than a flack half track with no doors let alone armour

It'll be really hard to get 6 zooks or 6 flamethrowers over the duration of a normal match. But if you fancy the challenge...! The good thing though is that a Ranger with 6 zooks probably isn't as good as having just 2 AT infantry squads (Yeah!). There is more to a squad than just their weapons. They at least come with an AT satchel, movement speed, and decent range on the bazookas. Whilst Rangers are decent at firing on the move. It's questionable as to whether sacraficing a really good anti infantry unit to a purely anti tank role will be worth it late game. It might just be for some circumstances, but not always.

I'm hundreds of hours in and find that i really enjoy coh3. I will be in line for the new battle groups. Its hard to sit on my hands seeing this.

Severely disappointed by this being the “expansion” promised for premium game. Expansions used to mean something, in COH2 you got a whole new faction and new units, vehicles and equipment, this is such a joke and should have been something way cheaper, this is only worth $5.00 at best, I’m just going to stick with COH2, I’ve lost hope on this game that dwarfs the player base of its predecessor and the studio that works on it
Imagine how everyone who preordered or bought the premium edition feels now, realizing that they were tricked into paying for expansion content that will be unlockable with free in-game merit points...

So they nerfed Jagers for being "too op" with their stats and upgrades, but a 6 man elite Ranger team with 6 slots for zooks and/or flamers able to fire on the move will be somehow "balanced" what are they smoking...i wouldnt do such nonese in a "lets make my units op for the lolz" mod...double bar rifles are already obnoxious enough and now this BS...
Rangers seems broken already.
They are expensive though! Ultimately if they do turn out to be strong. There's lots of good ways that their performance can be reduced. So I wouldn't worry too much about the initial balance so much as how interesting it seems. Pretty much everything that is ever released in any game these days ends up being adjusted in the balance department.

This amount of content should be released in regular patches, and not called an "Expansion Pack". You can create more than ten battlegroups in a month on a backend with mechanics and units that are already in the game. Where my content? What do you do? And new abilities and units, such as rangers with 6 bazookas and automatic artillery, however, as well as a multiple increase of artillery in the whole game directly shows that the Lead Game designer does not understand the game, does not play it, and even more so does not listen to the community. Even if the new battlegroups features will be nerf in the release, the original idea is absolutely wild. The only thing that works well in relic is the community department, pretending that some kind of dialogue is really being conducted with the players

WTF you really releasing this Battlegroup? What is this Terminator Troop with 6 Flamethrowers that can be used on the move? It also has frontline reinforce and special artillery with auto fire? I mean why would I play any other Battlegroup? This enables you to have strong infantry, strong artillery and strong tanks at the same time. This is completely overkill. Who designed this?

So let me get this straight COH DEVS. U GIVE a battlegroup that can make a IMENSE AI ATTACK as CALL IN. RANGERS WITH 6 WEAPON SLOTS that will just be OP in all ways possible. and give AUTOMATIC ARTY CALL INS BY A BEACON?? Man i understand why Skippy ain't playing and all our group only likes to chill on COH2 still. I'm sorry but there is NO WAY this is fully thought trough. I don't see this being balanced in any way.
Alright, based on what Ive seen, this looks DISGUSTINGLY BROKEN.
Upgrading Rifles into Rangers while keeping all acquired weapons and veterancy seems like a slap in the face to how swapping Grenadiers works for Wehr, as unless im mistaken, they dont do that.
Weapon paradrops instead of upgrades does seem like a neat idea, but having 6 man elite inf completely bypass the need to stay in their territory to upgrade seems a tad too strong, in my view.
Frontline medical tent not needing any sort of input from an engineer unit also seems quite strong. Combining that with Rangers means there is now very little reason to actually hard retreat your units.
Im sorry, but there needs to be a limit on how many weapons a unit can hold, if there isnt already. Im not sure if this was just for the video, but seeing a 6 man ranger squad with 6 flamers instagib 4 gren models in 1 attack while on the move is hands down one of the most broken things Ive seen in my time playing COH. Youve just made release Guastatori again. Same with zooks, as that sort of thing happens in coh 2, where a us player can just spam multiple ranger squads, give them 3 zooks, and rush into a tank formation and wipe/heavily damage multiple tanks before they can even react. Not to mention the bonuses those weapons get in rangers hands.
Infantry assault seems cool, as this is the first time (i think) where ai controlled units can be summoned to the field. However, this is literally just an on command blob summoner.
Artillery observers seem cool, its a given that theyre just upgraded scouts with increased vision range. Hopefully they do not turn out like pathfinders and can be spammed to decimate any other infantry force. Not like they need it with the rangers running around.
Im sorry, but a camo beacon that passively bombs enemies, along with those observers just sitting near it is just absurd. With the increased vision range, you can literally just put a squad or two of rangers between them and the enemy and there isnt really much they can do to stop them. That auto barrage is insane for what it provides.
The ammo storage decreasing cooldowns is fine, depending on how much, but increasing damage is dumb.
Howitzer emplacements, in my opinion, are just dumb as a feature due to how tanky they make them. Emplacements can just wait out a barrage from a wespe or italian 105, get repaired and continue on as if nothing happened. Having them auto fire is just plain obnoxious as its now literally a set and forget system. Atleast calling it in manually required atleast some micro, now its just build howitzer in base territory, and watch it kill anything soft with no chance of it being return fired.
155 rapid artillery is dumb due to how fast it arrives. Things like this should be reactable, giving you atleast some chance to move units, particularly team weapons, out of the way. Based on this video, it is quite literally a "delete unit" button.
So in summary, this battlegroup looks completely broken in terms of balancing and will probably be the main thing most us players pick. Combined with the support centers that give 76 shermans will completely shut down any axis opponent when played with any decent micro capacity.
Exactly dude, unless somehow the new Wehr battlegroup is somehow insanely more defensive and has similar or better capabilities they will definitely have to rework and balance this entire battlegroup within the first week of its release, one balance I can already see that they should add on launch, is to at least make most of these battlegroup options, at least 2-3 command points at minimum
afrika korps gets a medical truck with no munitions cost and it can dodge incoming fire, a medical tent which we don't still know the cost, is prob going to be ok, but can easily get sniped by stuka, nebel, artillery, also we haven't tested the rangers in game yet, the trailer was exaggerated to make it cinematic but I feel like infantry is pretty easy to control in Coh3. Finally Axis players will get what they deserve 😆
I would disagree.
The dak medical truck atleast requires a tech up and fuel investment, along with it being a fairly fragile unit. One dive with a Chaffee and it’s pretty much dead due to how fast those things are. While yea you can play the rng slot machine of using arty, particularly the nebel, and hope it hits and destroys it, it seems there’s nothing really stopping them from rebuilding it almost immediately. And I’m not sure stukas are a good idea due to how potent anti air is now. Dive bomb sure but that’s quite alot of munis for a single building.
I’m not sure what axis getting what they deserve means. In my experience, allies tend to be a lot stronger than axis.
Is not about destroying the medical tent, is all about killing the infantry retreating to it
@ArrangedKarma unbalance due to newer people are bad at the games recent match I played due to my opponent team have 4 tigers even 1 sent out early for veterancy Gustatori are wearing suit that protect them from flameable from UKs Sapper US Combat or Regular Engineer Flamers the Field Tent use to save up munition and fuel for the M3 halftrack and save up population room for vehicles Arty Observer are best for rooting out outpost or forward base set up DAK/Wehr even where they retreat at the (155mm do not exist WW2 kinda more like a 105mm) Ranger are still debuted b##### boy it’s still celebrated as anyone US battlegroup player favourite unit unlike the special operation SSF Commando Ranger can make par trade against Gustatori and can’t replicate the only ability in CoH2

This looks very busted. The rangers especially, a 6 man squad that can fire MGs, Flamethrowers and rockets AT THE SAME TIME and while on the move. We’ll have to wait and see but I can imagine relic are already planning to nerf them soon after release.
i really hope they didnt just add a Lefh arty from COH2 into the US, thats gunna be soo toxic for the game

This seems way too broken and unbalanced if the Axis troops do not get a buff for all their units.

I believe the announcer says its "free" if you have the preorder or premium edition, but (the battlegroups, at least) can also be acquired by everyone (regardless of edition) using merit points. So you don't have to pay more money, but you have now already paid for something that can be unlocked for free. Relic says "You're welcome."

Where are the heavy armor battlegroups?
So basically instead of worrying about rifleman spam with 2 bars now every axis player has to worry about ranger spam with 6 bars, 6 flamers etc etc, all while they can be overly aggressive by firing on the move without any consequences and in fact, receive improved stats from being overly aggressive, all while you get to spam artillery from the support lines. I’m sorry but this is why people stick to playing coh2

Yea i have a question, have you actually thought about how you will ballance any of this?! I mean for real, rangers with how many weopen slots? AI zerg rushes? Artillery that will fire on its own? Cashes that just bomb stuff by itself?

I got to talk to the lead designer for the Battlegroups and yes! There's actually a bunch of considerations already made for how things might go and what could be adjusted in the future. There's lots of internal playtesting too. If Rangers do end up being oppressive specifically because of 6 equipment slots. That could be reduced quite easily. No problem and an easy fix! However there are some other potentially interesting and creative ways to make some tactical nerfs but I don't want to overstep my bounds on what I can say about that!
The AI zerg rush. You gotta be careful of that one. It can actually work against you. It's not too difficult to stop the push. Every single one of those squads could end up being free experience for your enemy. So be very very careful where you send them!

i can definely see mass arty spam in 3v3s and 4v4s at the point even at your own base you are not safe.
I'm excited I hope with comes with some tuning to the ISC because damn as it is, USF is already overwhelming but it make them even stronger? I mean as is, with the ISC upgrade, they feel like an endless onslaught of infantry, They literally bleed your man power to death. I cannot imagine the rangers, with filled up weapon slots vetted up with weapon bonuses along with forward artillery observers with ISC upgrades as is....with call in infantry🤢🤢🤢
Okay i am going to give this the benefit of the doubt and say the USF will get tuned down during the patch.
I hope I'm wrong but its sounding like the Rangers are reusing the Captain's voicelines and/or voice actor.

For me, firstly ranger with flamethrower is gonna be issue since first launch flamethrower had not been patch yet. It gonna same issues like guastatori terminator flamer squad. Second ranger with 3 bar is enough 6 weapon squad with all weapon slot is too much. They should rebalance just do like ranger in coh2. Third artillery auto fire is ridiculous, why would do that for you just spotter to make auto fire. Lastly ai swarm zerg infantry assault.. better change to amour group much better
The artillery auto-fire is not the same range as it's bombardment ability. You'll need to position the Howitzer closer to the action to make use of it. So it's a pretty decent trade off and makes the Howitzer vunerable.

It’s 3 fools it has 3 slots you can’t look at the buttom part you look at the right side of the picture that’s their slot you can make them equipped with balance build Anti Infantry Build or Anti Tank build

As someone that is still on the fence about buying this game. This battlegroup worries me about the balance, that 6 ranger bazooka squad and other parts of the video reek of cheese. I ll wait till summer to see how the game ends up before delivering judgment. Hopefully it wont end up as dow 3.
Ah yes even more stuff for me to hate it wasn't enough every time I fight an American the spam 3 machine gunners early game and don't forget the paradroping machine gunners now rangers can have 6 special weapons max looks like a certain unique unit in afrikan corps that can use only 2 flamethrowers max will find some competition

Yeah, Riflemen with 2 bars are strong just imagine a squad with 6 bars or 6 flamethrowers, why not just 3?. Also I feel like the game is going for a fantasy ww2. Unlike the 1st and 2nd that tried to become a bit historically accurate. But with 3.....Its out the window...

Everything can be earnt with Merit. The challenge system will also be changing making it easier to unlock new Battlegroups than CoH 2 and a lot easier than it is currently!
